Chapter 23

Hello again! Thanks for the new review! Because of it, I was extra excited to publish this chapter today. Wish you like this one! And by the way, the chemical formula that I placed in the last chapter was real, just in case you're wondering about it.

I own nothing but my character Sama and her family members.

Luckily, Reiji got out of the room after minutes of my mom leaving, so I needn't to wait that much. And when I say luckily, I can't express how lucky I was since Reiji usually stays in his room for hours. What was in my mind was the look in Reiji's eyes. I never thought I would see that too. I brushed the thought away since I needed to focus on the next mission.

I hurried in the hallway looking for mom. (I hope she didn't finish already...) I went to every room putting my ear on the door and trying to hear mom's voice. Ayato was not in his room at all. Shuu was snoring on the couch so no need. Subaru was in the kitchen and Laito in the garden with the children. I laughed when I saw my two brothers lash at him when he tries to pet my the little twins. Not that they needed to cause the two cuties bit Laito's hand every time it was in their reach.

The last room was Kanato's. I placed my way and heard mom's voice. "You really like your little teddy, isn't that right Kanato?"

"Yes, but that's none of you business..." I could barely hear his voice since it was so low but I'm sure I got that right. When I heard it, I almost jumped inside wanting to crash his skull but refrained from doing so. Maybe mom can get to his heart like she did with Reiji. And for me, I'd love to see more expressions than the creepy smile on his face. One problem, I couldn't do so since I was outside this time... But I'm sure I'll get another chance if she succeeds.

"My little boy, it's not so polite to talk to the others like that..."

I heard than a slap. "I'm not a little boy! And I don't need you to tell me what to do!" (Did he just...)

"Ow... now I have to go but bandages on my hand..." (Phew...) I thought that he dared and slapped her cheek, not that she won't send him flying herself though. "Now, now... I didn't come here for a fight my dear..."

"Then what did you come here for...? what do you think, teddy?" He started talking to his bear again.

"Hmm, you see your teddy as the only one who understands you so you always keep it near you and talk to him." mom's voice was bare mumbles this time and I almost became one with the door to hear it.

"Don't talk like you understand me..." Kanato's voice was lower too.

"Nobody can understand the other completely, but sure there are some people who can feel people's hearts."

"And you're saying that you feel mine...?" He said in a mocking tone. (Oh I'll hit you till your tiny legs crack when this is finished!)

"Yes why not? I think that you always feel I underestimated and lonely, feel like the whole world is against you, even the people who are supposed to be close to you can't do their job and always betray you... isn't this right?" There was silence after mom's sentence. "I'm almost there am I not?" another wave of silence washed the room.

Then suddenly Kanato said in a frustrated tone: "W-what do you think you're doing?!" I wondered what was going on in there to make his voice change like this.

"This my dear, is called a hug. It is a symbol of affection and care that is used to comfort others and make them feel safe."

"I know what is this... it's why are you... doing it to me?"

Mom chuckled. "It's my way of telling you that I'll be on your side and teddy's from now on."

"You... be on our side? And why would you do that...?" He was mocking her again.

"Lots of reasons! One of them that I think you need this."

"No! Me and teddy don't need anyone else! It'll be just us forever! So, so..." he was yelling.

"So you won't get betrayed isn't it?" I could imagine Kanato's face now, confused and shocked. "To show you that I'm serious, I made you this..."

"What is this...?"

"As you can see my boy, it's new clothes for your teddy. I think they'll suit him right. Try them on him!" Mom's steps was getting closer so I knew I should vanish. I ran to a near wall and hid behind it. "If you like them tell me and I can always make more... Also, I backed a cake for you in the kitchen so go fill your tummy~" she walked away and I managed to not be seen, barely.

I was about to go after her when I heard Kanato muttering: "Like I would put such trash on teddy..."

I sighed and ignored the silly shortie and went after mom. She was heading now to where I think Shuu was. (So he'll be her next target...)

She went and I sat in front of the sleeping vampire. I hid in a suitable place. She looked at him for moments then she gently tugged his shoulder. "Got a minute my dear?" Shuu removed one of his earphones and looked at mom. That was his way of telling that he's listening. She then sat besides him on the couch and started talking. "You're listening to music again?" He nodded. "What kind of music do you listen to?"

"Classic..." Shuu's answer was simple.

"I see... Then for sure you know Mozart and Beethoven..."

Shuu looked at her. "They're one of my favorites." Yet another simple and mean-full answer.

Mom released a breath of relief. "Good... I guess now that I won't regret buying this now." she approached Shuu and took his MP. Then she put a card memory inside.

"..." Shuu wasn't saying anything.

"This is a collection of music I chose for you myself. I'm not completely familiar with your tastes but I think that you'll like this..." she put in one of his earphones in his ear. She pressed play.

Shuu then closed his eyes again and began to listen to the music. Minutes later he removed the earphones. "It's good... very good..."

Mom smiled widely. "I'm really happy you like it! But I got to tell you, it's really rare to see students these days into this kind of music so I'm really impressed..."

"It is. May I listen to this a bit longer? And if I can get some sleep too..." he said that and began yawning and closed his eyes a bit.

Mom chuckled. Then she took Shuu's head, and placed it on her lap. "Take your time my dear..." she said as she ruffled his hair gently.

Shuu seemed a little shocked at first but then he quickly closed his eyes and went fast asleep. I may have imagined it, but I think I saw a faint smile on Shuu's face... When it seemed like they wouldn't move for a while, I decided to go back to the garden. I went back and found the twins and the rest resting after what seemed a lot of playing. I joined them but I couldn't get off my mind all what I saw earlier. Reiji's sad eyes, Kanato's thoughtful face and Shuu's faint smile. I wasn't really sure at first if she did reach Kanato and Shuu. But when the it was dinner time, all my doubts vanished.

Kanato was holding teddy in his new clothings and looking in a good mood. As for Shuu, it was more shocking. Mom was holding the big bowl of biriani in her hands when she tripped and was about to fall harshly. That's when Shuu, STOOD UP FROM HIS SEAT, and grabbed her and the dish stopping her from falling. Mom's reaction was simple as she smiled and thanked him. The rest of us were either jaw-dropping or eye popping, except for Reiji who his glasses slipped from his face from the surprise.

Why so shocked? Well... simply because Shuu, if the house was burning in his sleep, he wouldn't move an inch. Then how about standing up quickly just to help someone? That wasn't like him at all.

Seeing that I knew how much I missed about the six brothers by thinking that they all were just empty vampires who likes to be sadistic for fun. And after seeing all that, I decided to rethink about them and how I treat them and maybe be nicer myself.

Sorry if this chapter was short. I was surprised when I saw it myself but it can't be helped. The next chapter will be longer so it's not a problem is it?
