Chapter 9

Beverly's POV: ************************************* "I don't know much about royalty to judge. Besides, it's only for Nobles and Royals as expected so my opinion is not necessary", I said with a shrug. "What do you mean by that?", Aiden asked. I set down the cup I was holding, which Collins had given to me, "It's a Royal ball, Aiden. Especially for the Prince to choose his bride. Do you really expect the Royal family to invite commoners? What do you expect us to do there? Clean?" "And what makes you think the Prince will only be interested in Royals and Nobles and not a commoner?", Asher asked as he turned to look at me. I sighed, "I really do not know how things are in your kingdom, but here, it is a pretty huge deal. Whenever such gatherings are held, whether balls, parties etc, the only attendees are the people of the high class which are the Royals and Nobles. Also, what makes you think the Queen will want her son, the future King, to marry a commoner? That is if the Prince will ever think of courting a commoner". "So, you think the Prince will choose a Noble or a Royal?", Collins asked. "Yes. It's common sense", I replied "How?", Asher asked with a blank expression. "If he chooses a Royal, he has more chance of expanding his power, not like his powers aren't already expanded. It will actually make ruling easier for him. Because this time, he won't just be an ally with the kingdom he chooses his bride from, he will also be like family. And if the kingdom his bride comes from is powerful, as the Peacock Kingdom, his rule will be stronger. If he marries a Noble, he gets to have a stronger power force with him beside his protectors, guards and allies", I said as I ate the snack they had brought with them. "Wow. You have thought this through. How do you know so much about how allies are made?", Steve asked. "That is what happens when you have two protectors as friends. They have made it their lives mission to make such I know everything about how a Kingdom is run etc", I responded. "What if the Prince happens to have fallen in love with a commoner?', Asher asked suddenly. "Well, that will be a surprise. From what Mike and James have told me so far, the Queen and he made a deal that he can not fall in love with a commoner. I doubt he would even fall in love with one." I said. "From what I have gathered from you right now, you seem to have gotten all your information about the Royal family from Mike and James. Besides what they have told you, what do you know about them?", Aiden asked. "Nothing. I basically just found out the Prince's name like two weeks ago", I shrugged. "What?", the four of them chorused. "What? I didn't find it necessary to find out. He is a Prince, I am a commoner. We are two different worlds apart. What will learning about him do for me? Nothing." I said. "you really do not have any interest in the Prince, do you? Other girls will be gushing for him to notice them ad fall in love with them", Steve said "I have never seen the Prince, so why will I be interested in him?", I said as the four of them shared a look. "Imagine the Prince falls in love with you and you end up being the Princess and future Queen", Asher said as I was looking at the sky. The stars were quite a lot today. The blue moon was shining as bright as always. The wind was blowing gently. I laughed so hard, I had to double over to hold my stomach, "You are being quite hilarious tonight, Asher" "What's so funny?", he asked with a confused look. "A Prince in love with me? Really? It would have been understandable and believable if you had said a warrior or a Noble. "I said "Why?" I rolled my eyes and said, "I guess your Kingdom is quite different from mine. In this Kingdom, it is very normal for a Noble or warrior to fall in love with a commoner. They are not very picky when it comes to love. The protectors, on the other hand, are not really picky but they are most likely to fall in love with a fellow protector or at least a warrior, according to Mike and James, it has to do with keeping the power and legacy", I said as Steve and Collins nodded like they understood what I was saying, "The Royals, however, are strictly to fall in love with a fellow Royal and sometimes Noble as they are more valued than commoners. The Prince falling in love with a commoner is highly impossible. I do not even envision him as one to fall in love with a commoner". "And what if he is not like other Royals? What if he wants to set his own legacy by loving a commoner and getting married to one?", Asher asked, harshly. "Okay, you seem to be taking this too personally. I'm sorry if I offended you", I said with a confused look. "Calm down, Asher. She has apologized and besides, it was just an opinion", Aiden said, while I was more confused. "Calm down? You do not even know anything about the Prince, yet you think you can judge him like that?", he snapped in my face, startling me and making my fingers burst out in flames.     Everywhere became silent. No one said a thing. The four of them stared at me with huge shock in their eyes. I was frightened. This has never happened to me before. I have never lost my cool to the extent of me revealing my powers to anyone, not to even Mike, James, Ashley or my family. No one knew. I was always careful. I always feared the day I would accidentally reveal my secret. Unfortunately for me, I just had to reveal it to the people O barely know and one of them was insanely mad at me for reasons unknown. "H-How?", Aiden asked as he stared at me. I quickly ran to the green river and dipped my hands inside to cool off the flames. My heart was beating insanely fast in my chest. What am I going to do now? I was worried. I turned around and saw them staring at me. "Please do not tell anyone", I pleaded as I ran away with tears in my eyes. Asher POV: ******************************** What the hell?  That was what was going through my head as I watched her run away. Did she just start a fire? How is that even possible? Can it be possible? Did it really happen? I must have been imagining it, right? She is just a commoner, there is no way she was able to do that. There must be a reasonable explanation. But the look on her face when she realized what had just happened flashed before me. I saw the fear and panic in her eyes. "What just happened?", Aiden asked as he broke the powerful silence. "Did what think just happened, just happened?", Steve asked while Collins still hasn't recovered from the shock. We all teleported back to my room.     We went into the secret room we built when we were 13. It was connected to my room and it was magical. No one else can get in. They would not even know it's there. It is where the four of us used to hang out a lot. Sometimes, we would hide there when we did not want to train. I would sometimes stay there anytime my mom is about to give me my "princely" lesson. It is also a place for us to cool off and just be alone without anyone interrupting or disturbing us.     The room was large. At the far back, against the wall, were two huge bunk beds. Beside the bed was a huge bookshelf filled with different spell books and history books. Beside the bookshelf was another shelf, though a little smaller. It was filled with different potions with different colours like blue, red, green, orange etc. It also had some materials we used to make the potions in jars like mermaid strands of hair, a giant nail, unicorn bags of dust and tears. merman scale etc. On the opposite side of the room was a pool table, game section, bar, fridge and snack shelf. In the center of the room were three huge couches that were placed to form a U. In the center of the couches was a table. In front is a huge television suspended in the air. On the left corner were two doors: one leading to the bathroom and the other was a closet. "How was she able to do that?", Aiden said as he sat on one of the couches. "I don't know. I never even thought it was possible for a commoner to be able to do that", Steve said with a frown as he sat beside Collins, who was holding a book he had taken from the shelf. "I can't find anything here that explains what the hell actually happened", Collins said as he slammed the book shut. "Maybe, we could just ask her?", Steve said. "No", Aiden said, "I do not think that would work. She won't tell us. From her expression, she was pretty scared when she noticed what she had done. It looked like it is a secret. She wouldn't want to talk to us about it". "That is if she even wants to see us again", Collins said. "What do you mean? I'm sure if we tell her we wouldn't tell anyone and we pretend we don't know, she won't have a problem to remain friends with us", Steve said. "It won't be because of her secret. It will be because of Asher", Collins said as he looked at me. "Because of me? How?", I asked shocked, while I looked at Steve and Aiden who seemed to have understood why. "Do you think after your little tantrum and show tonight, she would still want to meet you? You basically went berserk at her all because she was saying how she felt", Collins said with a disapproving look.     f**k. He was right. I doubt she would ever want to seem again after what happened tonight, especially because I was the reason her secret was exposed. I do not know what happened. I guess I just snapped because I did not expect her to think that way of me, even though she did not know I was the Prince. I guess I was also upset she did not know anything about me or my family except for the things her friends told her. Her lack of interest in my family was a slap in the face. I have always hated it when girls are interested in my status but when she showed no internet, it actually hurts. I blew off at her because, in a way, she was right. I can't get married to a commoner. It has to be a Noble or a Royal. But, I want to change that. Why does it have to be a Noble or a Royal that gets to be my bride? "s**t", I cursed.  "Oh my God, he is right Asher. You must have frightened her away with your barbaric behaviour. What if she actually stops seeing us?", Aiden said. "No. I'm sure she would let it go. She does not seem like the one to hold a grudge", I said trying to convince myself. "We are not saying she might hold a grudge, Asher. We are saying she must have become scared of you", Steve said softly.     No, it is not possible. She can not be scared of me. She must have come up with a reasonable reason for me to have behaved that way. She can not leave me now. She will not leave. I will not let her leave me.  I must find a way to meet her so I can explain the reason for my barbaric behaviour. I can lose her after I just realized how I felt.                 I am deeply in love with her.
