She took a deep breath, turned the engine off, and reached for the door handle, hoping this newfound serenity would last, especially once she was looking into those deep brown eyes. “We’ve got this,” she mumbled, unlocking her house door and heading inside, hoping God had it anyway, because, at the moment, she just wasn’t too sure about herself. After a quick dinner, Macey headed toward the fireworks stand, taking along a couple of sandwiches and snacks for later. She’d left her cooler the night before, so she hoped she’d have a chance if they got a break to bring it back home and restock it. Otherwise, it was going to be a long, hot evening.
