I SOMEHOW MANAGED to get through the rest of the day, boring and uncomfortable as it was, and was more than ready when Rion showed up the next morning. He gave me a quick kiss and said, “Doc’s right behind me.”
Dr. Gardner came up to my bed, checked me over, and said, “Ready to go home?”
“You know I am.”
“Any questions?”
“Yeah, when can I take a shower?”
“Do you have to step into a tub to do it?”
“Not at all. We have a large stall shower with a tiled bench at one end. The threshold can’t be more than a couple of inches above the bathroom floor.”
“Then I don’t see why you can’t have one as soon as you get home, as long as you’re not too tired. Your partner will need to remove your dressings before you shower and replace them with new ones promptly after your shower. Just
