Chapter 12: Unforeseen Interruption

388 Words
The tentative peace that Yesha and Suno had begun to forge was fragile, like a delicate thread stretched taut. As they continued their conversation in the cozy café, the atmosphere was a blend of hope and unresolved tension. Just as Suno was about to speak, the café door swung open with a soft chime, and Roched stepped in, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on Yesha and Suno. His expression shifted from determination to surprise, clearly not expecting to find them together. “Roched?” Yesha’s voice wavered, a mix of confusion and curiosity. “What are you doing here?” He approached their table, his posture tense. “I needed to talk to you, Yesha. To apologize.” Suno’s eyes narrowed, his protective instincts flaring. “This isn’t the time, Roched.” “No,” Roched interjected, his gaze unwavering. “It has to be now.” Yesha glanced between the two men, sensing the brewing storm. “Let’s not do this here.” Ignoring her plea, Roched continued, his voice laden with remorse. “Yesha, I made mistakes. I let my jealousy and pride cloud my judgment. I’m truly sorry for the pain I’ve caused you.” Suno scoffed, his frustration evident. “Now you decide to apologize? After everything?” “I’m not here to argue,” Roched replied, his tone steady. “I’m here to make amends.” Yesha raised a hand, her patience wearing thin. “Enough. This isn’t the place for this discussion.” The tension at the table was palpable, drawing the curious glances of other patrons. Taking a deep breath, Yesha stood up. “Let’s step outside.” Once they were on the quiet sidewalk, away from prying eyes, Yesha turned to Roched. “I appreciate your apology, Roched. But this is all too much right now.” “I understand,” he said softly. “I just needed you to know how sorry I am.” Suno stepped closer to Yesha, his voice gentle. “Let’s give her some space, Roched.” Roched nodded, taking a step back. “I’ll respect your wishes, Yesha. Take care.” As he walked away, Yesha felt a whirlwind of emotions. The path to healing was proving to be more complicated than she had anticipated, with unexpected turns at every corner.
