The club’s vibrant energy continued to pulse around Roched and Suno, but the atmosphere between them had grown heavy with unspoken emotions. Suno’s earlier drinks were beginning to take their toll; his posture slumped, and his eyes struggled to focus.
“Suno, maybe we should get you home,” Roched suggested, concern evident in his voice.
Suno attempted a dismissive wave but nearly toppled off his stool. “I’m fine… just… one more drink.”
Roched gently grasped Suno’s arm, steadying him. “No, that’s enough. Let’s get you out of here.”
With some effort, Roched maneuvered through the crowded club, supporting Suno’s weight as they made their way outside. The cool night air hit them, offering a brief respite from the stuffy interior.
“I can walk,” Suno mumbled, though his unsteady steps suggested otherwise.
“I know you can,” Roched replied patiently. “But let me help, okay?”
After a short cab ride, they arrived at Roched’s apartment. He guided Suno inside, leading him to the couch.
“Sit here. I’ll get you some water,” Roched instructed.
Suno sank into the cushions, his head leaning back as he closed his eyes. “I’m sorry,” he murmured. “Didn’t mean to be a burden.”
Returning with a glass of water, Roched handed it to Suno. “You’re not a burden. Drink this.”
Suno took a few sips before setting the glass down, his gaze unfocused. “It’s just… everything’s so messed up.”
“I know,” Roched said softly, sitting beside him. “But we’ll figure it out together.”
Suno’s eyes welled up, tears threatening to spill. “I don’t want to lose you… or Yesha.”
Roched placed a reassuring hand on Suno’s shoulder. “You’re not going to lose us. We’re here for you.”
Overwhelmed by emotion and alcohol, Suno’s eyelids grew heavy. “Thank you,” he whispered before succumbing to sleep.
Roched watched him for a moment, a mix of concern and affection in his eyes. He carefully adjusted a blanket over Suno before retreating to his own room, the weight of the night’s events pressing heavily on his mind.
