Chapter 13

1425 Words

Katherine’s pov I was running as fast as I could when I started feeling something wet pour down on me. I looked up—it was raining. Just perfect. The cold drops soaked through my dress, mixing with the hot tears that wouldn’t stop falling. My heels slowed me down, but I didn’t care. I kept running until I found myself in the middle of a deserted road, no car, no lights, no sound—just me, the rain, and the echo of what just happened playing on repeat in my head. I dropped to the ground, curling into a ball as the rain drenched every inch of me. I hugged my knees tightly, the silver dress sticking to my skin, and my heart felt like it had been ripped open. Why did it hurt so much? Why did he hurt me so much? Minutes passed—maybe more, maybe less, I couldn’t tell. Then I heard it—a honk.
