There was a stunned silence as the door closed behind Nate and Jenny. The others looked at each other, not sure what they should do.
Finally, Linda spoke up. “So, what do we do now? If the Roughneck crew knows about the book, they’re probably going to keep trying to get it from us.”
Everyone looked at Morgan, expecting her to have an answer. But she just stared back, not sure what the next step should be.
It was Kathy who came up with an idea, surprising all of them. “So, we give them what they want.”
“We can’t provide them with the book.” Casey almost jumped out of her chair as she answered. “They’ll have access to everything we’ve worked so hard for. Plus, there’s Pops to consider. He gave his life to be sure the book remained safe. How could we just hand it over to them now?”
