Chapter 5 Humiliation

1531 Words
Andre is here for an obvious reason: to break his engagement with Lilith and embarrass her. "Does the third prince mean to break off his engagement with Lilith?" James clenched the handle of his wheelchair, his fingers white with exertion. "There's no way around it. Lilith and I don't have a relationship, but Lilith likes me so much that I just wanted to try and see it. But as it turns out, after all this time, there really isn't anything going on between us, and Lilith doesn't have a magic awakening. It's over. " Andre said lightly. In his eyes, how could a woman who was both wayward and without magic be good enough for him? Andre's words were undoubtedly a great insult to Lilith, as he hinted at Lilith's entanglement with him and her incompetence without magic. James's face has turned livid, and he hates his incompetence. As a disabled person, he is looked down upon by others. Now that others have bullied him to the doorstep, he doesn't even have the ability to stand up for his niece. Is the Duke's Mansion really going to decline? James couldn't bear to look at Lilith. Lilith had always had a deep affection for Andre and had a proud personality. How could she bear such humiliation now? But when he looked at Lilith, he was stunned. He had expected Lilith to be ashamed and angry, but she was calm. Her placid eyes darted gently over Andre and Layla, seemingly oblivious. Lilith's reaction was unexpected. She didn't show any anger at all. "Finished?" Lilith looked at Andre and Layla with a detached coolness. Her calmness not only surprised James, but also greatly exceeded Andre's expectations. After all, Lilith once spared no expense to be with him, and now he openly proposes to terminate the engagement, but she shows no signs of anger. "Lilith, let's part on good terms and let Layla help you. That will be a good end to our relationship." Andre frowns, unsure of Lilith's intentions. Lilith raised her eyebrows lightly, her eyes coldly surveying Layla. "The world is so big, don't you want to see it?" 'Lilith asked softly, with a hint of meaning in her voice. "What do you mean?" Andre looks confused. William suddenly chuckled:"Lilith means you can f**k off." He explains it plainly and succinctly. Andre's face suddenly became very ugly:"Lilith, the king has decreed the dissolution of the engagement, whether you agree with it or not, and it will be announced tomorrow. I advise you to accept it." Layla, who had remained silent all along, spoke at this moment, her voice soft but with a hint of arrogance: "Miss Lilith, my teacher once said that there will always be things in fate, and don't demand things that are not in fate. Based on Miss Lilith's current situation, it is not wise to pursue things beyond your ability." Her underlying message was to advise Lilith not to pester Andre anymore. The White Cat thought angrily to Lilith: "Master, this woman is humiliating you!" "I am tired." she said. Instead of looking at Andre and Layla again, Lilith turned to William. Understanding, William stood up, stretched out his arms and gently cradled Lilith's tiny body in his arms. Without hesitation, he turned and left the hall. Andre's face turned even uglier. Lilith had never ignored him so much before. Today, she didn't even look at him. "It's getting late. Please go home." James coldly asked to leave, and would have had the two men thrown out if he had not considered their special status. Andre seemed to want to say something more, but Layla had already stood up with a displeased expression on her face. "Layla, you've been wronged." Andre is more concerned about Layla's feelings at this moment, only feeling that Lilith is ungrateful. Layla remained expressionless and left the Duke's Mansion without saying a word, followed closely by Andre. The two quickly disappeared from James' sight. The hall was silent, and James's face was pale. When did the Duke's Mansion suffer such humiliation. Nowadays, his father's health is gradually aging, and the Silver Lion Legion lacks suitable successors and commanders. The royal family's attention to them has also declined significantly. Judging from Andre's attitude today, it is evident that with Galen Medical School as the backing, the Empire may no longer need the Duke's Mansion. William carried Lilith out of the hall with a vaguely playful smile on his face. "Aren't you angry?" William lowered his head and looked at Lilith. He had a clear view of the situation in the hall just now, and Andre clearly came with his new love to humiliate Lilith. Surprisingly, Lilith did not show any signs of anger. Lilith looked up slightly, a hint of confuse in her calm eyes. There's a deeper smile in William's eyes, and underneath that smile, there seems to be a deeper meaning. "Lilith has such a good temper," he said softly, with a subtle hint of approval in his tone. "I'm hungry." She didn't understand what William was saying. Lilith just wanted to regain her strength quickly, so that she could personally heal her body and let those quacks continue to mess around. Her body must be destroyed. After handing Lilith over to the maid, who took care of her for a hearty dinner, while William silently leaves the Duke's Mansion and his figure disappears into it. At the same time, Layla remained dissatisfied on her face after leaving the Duke's Mansion. No matter how much Andre tried to coax her, she ignored it and felt that her status was honorable and she shouldn't be treated like that. "If it weren't for your face, do you think I would go to that place? It's just a young lady from the Duke's family, is she worthy?" Layla bit her lip and, as a student of Galen Medical School, many people begged her to seek treatment, but she ignored them. This time, for the sake of Andre's face, she humbly went to the Duke's mansion, but unexpectedly, she was kicked out by someone. She had never experienced such humiliation. Andre patiently comforted her, knowing that Layla has a strong self-esteem and he must be careful to soothe her: "Layla, don't be angry. Why get angry with that trash?" "As a prince, you really have a good temper when you have to bow your head to the same courtier." Layla sneered. Andre looked embarrassed. "Don't be angry. I'll just help you get revenge." Placating Layla was the key. Layla's face softened a bit and she reminded Andre: "Remember what you promised me." "I won't forget." Andre nodded, then sighed with relief. In order to make Layla smile, Andre didn't rush back to the mansion. Instead, he took Layla out of the city in a carriage escorted by a team of guards, and found a sea of flowers to please his crush. It wasn't until nightfall that Layla smiled again, and Andre calmly led the team back to the city. They took the carriage, passed through the city gate, came to a sea of flowers. The sea of flowers looked so beautiful in the moonlight that Layla's mood improved and she smiled again. On the carriage back to the city, Andre held Layla's hand and the two snuggled. However, on their way back to the city, the carriage suddenly stopped. The sudden stop of the carriage almost caused the two people inside to fall over. Andre felt displeased and loudly questioned the guards outside the car why they had stopped, but received no response. The chirping of insects in the middle of the night seemed particularly piercing at this moment. Without a response, Andre got off the carriage in a fit of anger. In the darkness, all the guards stood motionless on the ground holding torches. "Why stop!" Andre said displeased. But for his questioning, the guards did not respond at all. Andre felt a little uneasy. By the light of the fire, he saw a black figure standing quietly at the front of the team. The night covered him with a layer of shadow, and the faint light did not illuminate the man's features. "What man?" Andre was on guard, and Layla followed him from the carriage. The figure at the front of the procession, watched by the two men, slowly raised his hand. His slightly open palm suddenly clenched into a fist in mid-air. At that moment, all the guards' bodies suddenly burst open at the same time, and hot blood splashed everywhere. "Ahhh!! Screams came from Layla's mouth as nearly a hundred guards exploded at the same time, bleeding her with blood and sticky flesh all over her gorgeous hemline. Andre, too, was stunned by the sudden change. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. The falling torches ignited all around the wagon, and the flames enveloped Andre and Layla. Surrounded by flames, the dark figure slowly retreated and left under the farewell of the flames, whispering with a smile in the moonlight, "Unfortunately, I don't have the temper of Lilith." Then he disappeared into the night, leaving Andre and Layla struggling in the flames.
