After about four years, Teresa was inside the airplane. She was returning home from the United States with his son and her nanny.
“Madam Teresa,” the nanny said, tapping Teresa who was fast asleep on the shoulder. “The plane has landed.”
“Mom, I’m finally going to meet grandpa,” a young male figure said excited. The boy’s name was Xavier. He was only four years old, with bright and curious eyes that sparkled like the morning sun. His dark, neatly tousled hair framed a face full of innocence and charm.
“Yes,” Teresa replied to her son and then they all began stepped out of the airplane with their luggages.
“I’m certain that mister Albert will hardly recognizes you when he sees you,” the nanny said, smiling gently.
Teresa didn’t reply. Instead, she asked Xavier to stay close to her.
“Mom, I’m just so happy to be here. Maybe I will finally have the chance to see my father too,” Xavier said and then turned his head to look his mom in the face excitedly. “Is that why we are here? Did dad ask us to come back home?”
What Xavier had just asked made Teresa feel downhearted. She always didn’t seem to like it whenever Xavier wanted to talk about his father.
“I have told you several times. Your father abandoned us. And he didn’t want to see us anywhere near him. So stop asking about him. Just have it at the back of your mind that he does not exist.”
“It makes me sad when I see other kids having fun with their fathers. I really want a father to do something fun with,” Xavier said and then paused for a minute. “Mom, do me a favor. Take me to him. I want to ask him why he abandoned us. Are you…”
Before Xavier could complete his sentence, Teresa interrupted her.
“Xavier!” she said, shouting softly. “Your father doesn’t exist. So stop talking about him!”
If Teresa wouldn’t want to talk about Xavier’s father, maybe she wouldn’t mind talking about his adoptive sister, Allison. Although everyone except Teresa and her aunt, Mary, believed that Teresa had twins the time she gave birth.
“Allison would be happy to see us as soon as we found her. Right, mom?”
Four years ago, when Teresa gave birth. She succeeded at running away with Xavier before mister Albert could lay his hand on the baby. And about six months later, she adopted a female child named Allison. But after two years, mister Albert went to the United state and took away Allison from Teresa.
Actually, the main reason why Teresa had returned to her country was to look for her adopted daughter and also to finally sign some papers to officially cancel her engagement with Richard.
During the time when Teresa was in the United State, she had been putting calls through to her father and the Donalds, begging them to cancel the engagement that had been placed on hold.
Richard had also agreed to that but since Sir Donald was refusing, there was nothing he could do but now that Sir Donald had finally agreed towards the engagement cancellation, Richard was happy. Although, the plan was for him to get married to Teresa’s stepsister, Sophia. With that, mister Albert had no doubt about the success of his intentions to save his company and also to improve his social status.
Richard was waiting at the airport’s exit for Teresa. He had been sent by Sir Donald to bring her home.
“When is this ugly b***h going to show up?” I have been waiting for an hour now,” Richard complained, talking to his assistant who was standing next to him.
“I’m certain she is closeby. We just have to wait a little longer,” Richard’s assistant said and then paused for some seconds. “Just not to get Sir Donald upset, I will advice you to treat her fairly when she arrives.”
Just as Teresa was just a few distance to the exit of the airport, she saw a figure that caught his attention. Although it was the backside of the figure she saw, but she still recognized who exactly it was.
Even though it had been four years, the figure hadn’t changed much. The figure was Richard.
“What is he doing here?” Teresa couldn’t help but say gently to herself in a voice that was barely above a whisper. “Could it be that he was the person that was sent to pick me up?”
Teresa was aware that someone had been sent to pick her up just that she was not expecting the person to be Richard. She kept on walking toward where Richard and his assistant were carefully waiting for her.
Richard, whose backside was facing Teresa’s direction had no idea that Teresa was closer.
“Geez!” Richard said. “I can’t believe I’m really doing this. She was as big as elephant and ugly before she left but now that she has given birth, I can’t imagine how she would be looking. It's even going to be an embarrassment when people see her with me.”
Just at that point, Richard turned around now facing Teresa’s direction. It was at that point that he noticed the presence of a lady who was just walking toward where he was standing. The lady was a vision of effortless beauty, with smooth, radiant skin that glowed in the soft light.
Richard could not get his eyes off the lady. They were locked on her as she was approaching him. The fun part was that Richard was not the only one admiring this lady, a significant number of men in the airport find it difficult to take their eyes off her as well.
“I’m looking at an angel on earth,” he said softly to himself in a voice that was barely heard. “Her beauty is breathtaking.”
Just as the lady was closer enough to him, he quickly walked up to her.
“Hi,” Richard said, smiling gently. “Uh-huh. Actually, I was waiting for one lowlife fatty lady and her doucheface kid but seeing you, you caught my attention and I don’t think I can let you walk out of here without offering you a ride to wherever you might be going.”
Hearing how Richard had just talked about her, she felt embarrassed. The airport was a public place. It would make no sense to start exchanging words with Richard there. With that knowledge, Teresa didn’t respond to what Richard had just said. Instead, she just kept looking at him.
Richard had no idea that it was Teresa who was standing in front of him. She was completely different. She had lost weight and now she was just looking fit and beautiful.
“I’m sorry. Pardon my manners. Your beauty made me forget to tell you my name and also to ask for your name,” Richard said, apologizing. “I am Richard Donald by name and you are?” he asked, his eyes locked on Teresa’s face, expecting an answer.
