Chapter Six

Elenora POV I could feel myself waking up. This felt real, not like before when I was just floating. I could see the light pressing against my eyelids. I felt tubes in my arms and heard a beeping sound. I was in a hospital. I have been in one before, once before mom died. She brought me in to a human hospital for a high fever. I was hooked up to an, what did the doctor call it? Oh, an IV and the beeping sound was monitoring my heartbeat. Someone found me and saved me. But who? I opened my eyes and the light burned my eyes. I growled and shut them again. I heard the door open and immediately could hear my heartbeat increase. I couldn’t see who was coming into my room. I tried to move my hands to put them against my face and found there was resistance. I was chained to the bed. No one saved me, they are going to hurt me more. I started to shake, and the lights went low. I heard a male voice that had the power of a Beta. “You can open your eyes.” I peeked through one eyelid and found no pain with it, so I opened both.   The man in front of me was tall and muscular. I continued to shake; sure he was going to hurt me. He didn’t try to advance toward me. I saw the pity in his eyes. “I am not going to hurt you. I want to know who you are.” I shook my head. I couldn’t give him that information, what if he worked for my father? I reached out to Lilith. “I am here Ele. I don’t like that they chained you down. Don’t trust them.” “You need to tell me who you are and what you are doing here.” I didn’t answer. I kept my eyes on him to ensure he didn’t come any closer. He continued to ask questions about who I was and what happened to me. I didn’t say a word. He shook his head in frustration and left the room. I heard him speaking low to someone outside the room then walk away.   I breathed a sigh of relief and looked around. This is different from the other hospital. The room was bigger and had a tv. I have not watched tv since the last time I was in the hospital. No electricity where I have lived. I found that even chained to the bed I could move my hands enough to turn on the tv. I flipped through the channels not sure what to watch. I settled on what seemed like a funny show. The doctor then came in.   “Oh, The Big Bang Theory I love that show. It’s funny. Do you like it?” I started to shake slightly, unsure of my safety. I decided to answer him. “This is my first time watching it. I don’t have tv at home.” “I wish I didn’t have tv at home. Maybe I would read more.” He let out a short laugh then got on his serious face. “I don’t know what happened to you, but It’s a good thing you are a wolf. Without the healing powers they give us you would be dead. Do you know what happened to you?” There was a warmth about the doctor that was calming me down. I was no longer shaking. “I can’t remember anything. My wolf does, but she is shielding me from it.” “That is probably a good thing. Do you want to know the extent of your injuries? I swallowed and quickly asked for Lilith’s opinion. “Only if you want to know.” I nodded. “Yes, please doctor.” He motioned to a chair beside the bed. “Can I sit” I nodded. “Ok so you have several broken ribs. Four of your fingers were broken. You have rope burn on your wrists. You have several bruises, deep scratches, and bite marks as well. You were also extensively sexually assaulted.” He paused and let me take it all in. “How long until I am 100%?” “It will take a month maybe to heal completely. With this though you may never be 100% again. Your body will have those scars possibly forever. You suffered a trauma and there will likely be some side effects. Do you have access to a psychiatrist?” I gave him a look of confusion. “What is a psychiatrist?” “You know how I am a doctor of the body? Psychiatrists are like doctors of the mind. Would you be willing to talk to one before you leave?” “What will he want to know?” “Just about you. How you are doing, what your home life is like. Things like that.” It was a trap. I started to shake. “No, I can’t do that.” The doctor gave me a sympathetic smile. “That is ok. Your choice. You won’t be forced. You need to sleep to continue healing at the rate you are. Please rest and ring if you need anything. Someone will be bringing you dinner soon. I have put you on a liquid diet, so It’s likely going to be some soup.” “Wait it won’t be you that brings it? I can’t do this. It needs to be you, please.” I tried to grab his hand, but I couldn’t reach it. His eyes softened. “I can try.”   After the doctor left, I tried to rest, but I couldn’t so I reached out to Lilith. “Who did this to us?”   “I know names, but I don’t know if father sent them. They were called Max, Ralph, and Felix. Their goal was to kill you. I took over when you were too weak and did my best to hold our breath until they left. They are going to see that we didn’t really die. They will come back.”   I started to shake again, and I heard my heart monitor go crazy. What was I going to do? The doctor came rushing in. When I would not calm down. I heard him ask the nurse to deliver another sedative. I once again slipped into the darkness.   Leviathan POV I was not cut out for this crap. I remember the days before I turned 18 and became Alpha. Just hanging out with Titan and combat training. I had always been trained to become an Alpha, but I much preferred the physical side of things. Knowing that you have the lives of your enemies in your jaws. That is what I used to live for. I always hoped when I became Alpha, I could make someone else run the business, but I found that it was no easy to delegate such an important task. Titan’s father, who taught me the reigns of it all since he took over for my father, pounded it into me that the business protected the pack more than physically protecting our borders did. Without the money the business brought in we would struggle to live. It’s because of my work with Night Industries that allowed for the kitchen to always be stocked, us to live on private land, and all the pack members were taken care of finically if they had to work with humans. The humans didn’t know how to properly pay their employees. None of the pack members were in poverty because of the work I did. That was the only thing that kept me coming here, kept me working, and kept me wearing suits. I used to wish I were born a warrior but being Alpha does give me a sense of pride.   I got up from my desk to stretch. I go running in human form every night, but my wolf is urging me to shift and let him take over for a run. I always had to remind him the city was not the same as pack land. I took the chance to do some quick pushups to get the blood pumping. We were close to coming to an agreement, but I had sent everyone home hours ago. Sometimes it was easier to work alone. The women in the office always seemed to be less focused when I was around. The shewolves from my pack knew to stay away. I was only for my mate. That was one thing I remember my dad making sure I learned. I didn’t understand why it was so important to me until Titan’s father explained that he had women whenever he wanted, but when he found mom the shame he felt almost made him reject her. She brought him out of it and made sure he felt the love she had for him. The human women I hired to work for us didn’t realize what we were, so I had plenty try to hit on me. It was easy to deny them, but they never seemed to quit. I knew I was good looking, hell I was an Alpha. I was good looking, buff, and had an air of importance around me. It was no surprise that women wanted me.   I looked at the clock. It was past midnight. I decided I would retire to my private bedroom that was off my office. Dad built it when he realized how uncomfortable it was to sleep on the couch when he worked late. It also allowed mom to join him in the city when they needed time alone. The space not only included a bedroom, but also a bathroom and a small kitchen. I kept it decorated like she left it. I sighed looking around. I missed them so much. I headed into the bathroom to get ready for bed. I looked in the mirror and saw the bags under my green eyes. I need to go to bed sooner than this. I ran my hand through my curly black hair before I grabbed my toothbrush. I finished up and hit the bed. I thought I would fall asleep quickly, but my mind went to the rogue. I hope Titan finds out why she and there and what happened to her and gets her out of our lands before I come back. I don’t want to deal with a hurt woman. The only women I wanted to deal with was my mate. I even made Titan’s mate, Chandra, deal with any issues the women had that came up. She handed them well enough that I didn’t usually have to know about it. Women are just too well girly. The makeup, the giggling, always going to the bathroom with each other, and the crying. There was always so much crying. It was just too much for this Alpha to deal with. I would much rather jump between two feuding males then approach a crying woman. I shook the thoughts from my head and sleep came soon after.
