I cannot account for everyone’s triggers so I will just be doing this to the obvious ones.** Elenora POV This dream starts out like all the others. I am so tired of it, but I can’t seem to get rid of it, so I have to go through it.                 ‘I am laying on a cot that my father managed to steal. I can smell the dirt floor around us and feel the scratchy blanket I am laying under. I hear my father yelling at my mother. Calling her a traitor and a w***e. All I hear from her is the muffled screams she is trying to keep in while my father hits her like he has so many times before. I can anticipate the worst part coming. I get up quietly and’   BANG   I jump out of bed. That was not part of the dream. I quickly throw my legs over and look around my 1 room hut. I see a chair on the floor. I quickly change and let my wolf, Lilith, take over. Her hackles are raised, and she emits a low growl. She can smell another wolf, but not any she recognizes. “I don’t think that was your father.” In our shared mind she can see me nod my head, but she can sense my fear. I know that he is going to come after us one day. I have felt that since I fled him that night; since the night Lilith woke in me to serve as my protector; since the night he killed my mother when I was just 7 years old. Lilith’s watchful eyes searched every inch of the hut, even in the smallest of places. It was a quick search since I didn’t have much. My days consisted of hunting, hiding, and learning. The most I had was some old pots that I had stolen from someone’s garbage, my textbooks, and the small stack of wood. Lilith pushed open the door to the outside. Through my fear I could smell the night air. Lilith didn’t let it take her out of protector mode, but I knew she loved the night just as much as I. The moon always seemed to give us strength when we needed it. “Let’s do a sweep.” We ran the perimeter I considered to be our land. It felt so nice to stretch our muscles. No sign of anyone. Let’s return home. We slowed our pace as we made our way home. Once in the door I transformed back and threw my clothes back on.   “Thank you, Lilith, for always being there to protect me. I know I need to take more of a protective stance in my human form, but I feel so weak. I know father could dispose of me as quick as he did mom in this form. If he is still like he was 12 years ago when we fled, you would at least have a fighting chance.”   “My dear Ele. I will always be here to protect you. I woke up knowing how much danger you were in. Until father is dead that danger will always be there. I do think we need to figure out how to do more combat training in your human form, but I have no idea how to do that out here. We need to find a pack to join.”   “NO!”   My voice rings out. “We can’t join a pack. We don’t know who is out to get us.” I could feel Lilith’s discouragement in my head. I know she wished she could run with others, but I just couldn’t. My body starts to shake at the thought of being around that many other people. I know she would walk us to a pack border if I let her, but there is no way a pack would not see us coming in wolf form as a threat. I laid back down on my cot, hoping I could fall back asleep. It seemed like there was no hope though. My senses were already on high alert. My father has been my number one fear in life. Though I am only 19 I feel as if I have lived so much longer. I didn’t own a mirror, but I could feel how living this way has not been kind to me. I run my hands through my short hair. It’s matted and tangled and no doubt dirty. Last time I cut it I could see it was a light brown. I go to the river to bathe, but infrequently. I have no need to be clean when I live in a hut with a dirt floor and I spend a large chunk of time in wolf form. I am small and petite. I am so much underweight I can feel my ribs sticking out of me. There isn’t enough food in the forest I live in. Some rabbits here or there, but they aren’t as prevalent as they were when I first settled at the hut.   I shook my head to get out of my thoughts and decided to start my day. The moon was still up, but I always enjoyed watching the sunrise. I went outside and started a small fire in the firepit. I went back inside to get the leftovers from last night’s rabbit to reheat. I had to eat animals quickly and be careful not to get an animal that was too big. The meat would spoil, and I am not going to kill an animal and let it spoil. I bit into the rabbit. It’s not as juicy as it was last night, but it was edible. Even though I could consume an entire rabbit in one sitting I always saved some. I was never sure when I would eat again, and breakfast always seemed to get me going. After I ate, I walked to the river. I could feel Lilith in my head staying alert to the things my human senses couldn’t see. I was so thankful she was my wolf. I would have been lost without her. She woke when I was running from my father. I could hear him behind me, and I was so scared that I had fallen. My knee had gashed open and I started to cry. I knew I would die just as easily as mom had. Then I felt a voice in my head yell, “GET UP AND RUN” so I did as she asked. Later she introduced herself. I had always believed I would not hear from my wolf until I was 18, but she came to me in the darkest moment of my life and has kept me safe ever since.   I reached the river after a short walk and I filled up my canteen then took a long drink. I was lucky the river close to us was clear and drinkable. I remember having to strain and boil water then let it cool before I found the land I am on now. I looked around and didn’t see anyone, so I shimmied out of my clothes and proceeded to wash myself. The cool water under the moon felt like heaven. I stayed in the river until I watched the sun rise. Then I made my way back home, stopping to hunt along the way. I was rewarded with a small quail.   Unknown POV I watched her undress in the shadows. She was going to be mine. I was so stupid to bump into that chair last night, but next time I will be better. I will get some friends to help me take her. My paws curled in anticipation. I couldn’t wait to use her until she was dead. I watched her redress and head back to that nasty hut. “Soon you will feel more pain then you ever have before.” I smiled and trotted the opposite direction. Time to find the other rogues that like to help me take down rogue females.
