Chapter 21-2

2021 Words

* * * Hunter went over the wall with Chekwe right behind. They dropped to a crouch and scanned the gardens. They were beautiful if overgrown, adorned with tiled pools and alabaster statuary, graced with date palms and papaya trees, mango and orange trees, and the whole gardens were redolent with the delicate scent of some yellow-flowered shrubs that seemed to be intent on taking over the grounds. Militarily it was a disaster, though, with more cover for skulking goblins than for the defenders. Goblin archers were popping up and around shrubs, taking shots at open windows, and there was precious little return fire. “What a turd parade,” Chekwe groused. “Easier for us,” Hunter replied. “Look at that window. They’re about to rush it.” A band of goblins stormed toward a first story window.
