“Look I want to be with you but it’s just not convenient right now”
“All I need from you right now is patience”
“Alright?” Jason asked.
Venice gave no response and made a pityy face due to Jason refusing her offer.
She had given up on trying to convince him and decided that she would wait for him.
“You can stay in this hotel if you want or you could go meet your friends”
“In the meantime, have this,” Jason said as he pulled out a suitcase full of US dollars and handed it over to Venice.
“Is this all for me?” Venice asked excitedly as she opened the suitcase.
“That’s all yours until I come back for you,” Jason said.
“Thank you so much,” Venice said as she pulled closer to Jason for a kiss.
“This is too much”
“I appreciate baby”
“I am waiting for when you come back but I will always call”
“Make sure you always keep your phone close by okay?”
“I hope I won’t have a lot of unanswered calls like these your clients that you don’t pick their calls,” Venice teased.
“Alright, my love,” Jason responded.
“I can’t stay here all alone for long so I will just go to my house,” Venice said.
Venice saw Jason off in his car before going to meet with her friends, Lexy and Roseline, who lived together in a one-room apartment.
“Where have you been?”
“I called you all the night but you didn't pick up”
“Since when did you stop picking up my calls,” Jason’s wife, Michelle said, agitated.
“Sorry, sweetheart”
“I was asleep,” Jason responded
“We talked about this before”
“Not picking up my call gets me worried,” Michelle said.
“I wanted to know how the meeting went”
“Was the negotiator tough?” she asked.
“It went well, darling”
“Of course, there were some challenges”
“But it went well, even better than I expected”
“We are now eligible to buy the shares”
“I will give you complete details when I get home”
“I am already on my way to the airport,” Jason said.
“How is Jude?” Jason asked about his son.
“He’s fine, we are waiting for you to be back home”
“Safe journey,” Michelle said.
Venice soon got to her friends’ house where they stayed together.
“Yay!”
“Wife of the billionaire investor,” Lexy and Roseline teased.
“So you didn’t come back to the hotel the other day,” Lexy said.
“We know what could have happened for you not to come back,” Roseline added.
“So you ditched us, your girls, to follow a man,” Roseline said.
“Oh, come on, Roseline”
“Can you blame her?”
“At least she was able to bag a rich man,” Lexy said.
“So, how was the s*x?” Roseline asked, winking and making erotic sounds and signs with her tongue.
“Was he passionate?”
“Was he just there?”
“Some of these rich men have used all of their strength in chasing money and they don't have much more to offer on the bed”
“Don’t just look at us like that”
“Tell us the gist,” Roseline said.
“Yes, yes, we want to know all about it,” Lexy added, also making erotic signals toward Venice.
“I didn't even say anything about us having s*x,” Venice said, smiling but a little embarrassed with her friends’ manner.
“Oh! Come on! Don't lie to us babe,” Roseline said.
“Okay! Alright! We had a nice time and yes, he was good”
“Very good,” Venice said, admittedly.
“Yay!!” Roseline and Lexy screamed excitedly.
“So you finally had some action,” Roseline teased.
“I am happy for you”
“Talking about bagging a rich man, don’t tell me you didn’t bring home some cash,” Lexy said.
Venice gave a smiley look that suggested that there was good news and the ladies shouted in excitement.
“Where is it?”
“How did you even sneak it in without us suspecting?” Lexy asked.
Venice reached over to the suitcase and opened the box full of money.
“Yay!” The girls screamed again.
“We are gonna party tonight,” Roseline added.
“No, no, no,”
“We are not partying with this one,” Venice said.
“But he is a cool guy”
“I like him”
“But I don’t know, it feels like he is hiding something sometimes,” Venice added.
Roseline made a sorry face and said, “With rich men like that, there is always something they are hiding”.
“That's why we already told you to go after money,” she said, bringing out her tongue in a freaky way.
“The money is the main thing, girl”
“And you have done a good job so far”
“Well done babe,” Roseline said as she raised her hand towards Venice for a high-five which she reluctantly accepted.
“I really like the guy though”
“It's not about his money for me”
“I just hope he is someone I can trust,” Venice said.
“Men will always break your heart, babe,” Lexy said casually.
Venice and her friends went out shopping that evening and they bought a lot of expensive items and jewelry.
Days went by and Venice didn't receive a call from her billionaire lover, Jason.
She called him a lot of times but he didn't pick up the phone.
Venice became worried and agitated. She wondered what had happened to Jason. A lot of scenarios played up in her head and she wasn't herself anymore.
“Good evening, Venice,” Jason said on one of the occasions that he picked up the phone.
“Hello, Jason”
“I knew it”
“I have been calling you for the past 3 days and no response”
“Was I just some girl you used to pass the time with and continue on your adventure”
“Is that what this is all about?” Venice said, worryingly.
Jason soon interrupted and said, “No, darling”
“It's not the way you see it”
“Things have been different since I came to Houston”
“I have had to attend several conferences in a few days,” Jason said.
“That is no excuse for not picking up my call,” Venice lamented.
“I mean, what would it take you to take out a few minutes of your time to speak with me”
“Or even a few seconds if it means only hearing your voice so that I know that you are fine”
“It would take you nothing, Jason”
“You know we talked about this”
“You can't just leave me hanging with my feelings up in the air”
“What happened to the sweet things you said about loving me and how my smile was the best thing you had seen,” Venice continued, with tears almost pouring down her face.
“It's alright baby,” Jason said.
“You know what?”
“I would have to go now”
“Talk later, bye”.
