“Is it his birthday today?” I asked without thinking.
“Didn't you know it was his birthday, dear child?” Mama Carmela asked me with a smile.
“I thought it was yours, Mama, because that's what he told me,” I replied to her.
“Maybe he's shy to say it's his birthday. Especially since he's turned another year older,” Mama said with a laugh.
Mama is quite the joker. She thought of this joke, but she's right. Adam has turned another year older, so maybe he gets annoyed when William teases him because he's 39 today. Now I understand why he was sulking yesterday. He was probably really hurt by his brother's joke. And then he thinks William is really handsome to me.
