RACHEL
“Pretty, is what I'm doing right?” Reighn asked me while showing what he had done.
“Yes, there's nothing wrong with what you're doing. Just keep doing what you want,” I replied to him with a smile.
“I think my work looks ugly,” he said sadly.
“Are you sad because you think your drawing looks ugly? You know, my work used to be worse. But I didn't give up. I just kept drawing and drawing. Until—”
“Until you get better at painting?” he asked me.
“Yeah, until I get better. I mean, I'm not that good yet, but I've improved. You know what, you need more practice. And if you love what you’re doing, the result will be beautiful if you just keep going,” I told him.
“Thank you so much, Rachel. I used to dream of having a big sister and now it's come true. I like you a lot,” he said to me.
“Me too, I always wanted a sibling, and I like you too..” I said with a smile as I stroked his hair.
I turned because I heard someone clearing their throat. It was my godfather who had arrived. I quickly avoided looking at him. Reighn stood up to approach his dad. His dad quickly picked him up.
“Daddy, why are you here?” he asked his daddy.
“I'm here for lunch, sweetie, and I missed you.”
“Daddy, look, Rachel and I painted.”
“Wow, that’s great!” he said to his child.
“It's not good yet. But soon it will be,” Reighn happily told his daddy.
“Of course, sweetie. You need more practice.”
“You said the same thing as Rachel,” he told his daddy.
“Ahmm, daddy. Are you going back to work?”
“Yeah, daddy has a lot of work,” he replied.
“When you're not working, join Rachel and me for painting.”
“Okay, sweetie,” he said with a smile and sat next to me.
I immediately caught a whiff of his cologne. It wasn't harsh on the nose, and it seemed pleasant to smell. But I needed to control myself. I had no intention of talking to him. Our skin touched, so I quickly moved away from him.
“Baby, I'll go up to my room. I'm sleepy, let's continue this later,” I said to Reighn.
“Okay,” he replied to me with a smile.
“Have lunch before you sleep,” he suddenly said to me.
“I'll eat later, Adam,” I replied to him and finally stood up.
“Rachel, don't be stubborn,” he said to me.
“I'm not hungry, godfather. want to sleep, so please, just let me sleep,” I told him and finally left Reighn's room.
I went straight to my room and lay face down on my bed. I don't know why I'm annoyed with him. “But why am I annoyed? Is it because he rejected me? Or because he said he wouldn't like me? What is his type? Does he still love his ex-wife? What does his ex-wife look like?” So many questions were running through my mind.
“Argghhhh…” I groaned, covering my face with a pillow.
Calm yourself. You can't just stay here at his house forever. What are you going to do here? Hang out? I'm already getting bored. "Should I maybe study? It might be better if I go back to studying. So I can make some friends. And my life won't be this boring anymore," I thought to myself.
I closed my eyes because I wanted to sleep. My headache still hasn't gone away. I'm still hungover. My eyelids felt heavy, so I allowed myself to sleep.
I woke up because I felt someone hugging me. When I opened my eyes, I was greeted by Reighn hugging me. I smiled because he had snuggled up next to me to sleep too. I hugged him and let myself fall asleep again.
I woke up with something heavy on my stomach, so I quickly opened my eyes.
"What the heck?!" I was startled, so I pushed away my godfather who was hugging me.
"Ouch!" he groaned, clutching his hip.
"Why are you here?" I asked him. I looked beside me and saw that Reighn was still sleeping soundly.
"Sorry, I didn't realize I fell asleep too," he replied to me.
I ignored him. I got up and went straight to the bathroom to take a shower. I didn't take long in the shower. When I came out, he was sitting on my bed. I grabbed my clothes and changed right there in front of him.
I didn't really want to, but I was too lazy to go back into the bathroom to change. Besides, he doesn't care about me anyway.
"Thank you for getting along with Reighn," he suddenly said to me.
"There's no reason for us not to get along," I replied to him.
"Are you mad at me?"
"What do you think?" I asked him sharply.
"Are you really like this? Do you really have the right to be angry? I'm just protecting you," he said to me.
"Protecting me? You're stricter than my dad. Let me remind you, godfather. I grew up in the States and I can take care of myself. If you're always like this, it might be better if you just let me go back home. I can live alone, I'm very used to being by myself," I said to him before leaving my room.
I went to the kitchen to help the maid.
"Dear, aren't you hungry? You didn't eat earlier?" she asked me.
"No, ma'am," I replied to her and drank the iced coffee I made.
"Are you still upset with your godfather?" she suddenly asked me.
"He's too strict. I just want some freedom, ma'am. He's not my dad. He's stricter than my dad. He doesn't trust me. I know his reason. Because I grew up in a more liberal country," I told her.
"He's strict, but I know it's not because he doesn't trust you. Maybe he doesn't trust the people around you. Believe me, he's concerned about you," she said to me.
"I'm sorry, ma'am."
"You're a beautiful child, so maybe your godfather is just trying to protect you. So please don't be mad at him. Adam is a good person. I always hope he finds a woman who will love him."
"Why don't he and Reighn's mom just get back together?"
"Because—"
"Ma'am, Reighn and I will eat outside," he suddenly spoke.
“Alright, Gov.”
“Get dressed, you're coming with us.”
“What are you waiting for?” he said, clearly annoyed.
The house keeper and I exchanged looks. Who is he talking to?
“Rachel, are you deaf?!”
“Am I the one you're bringing along?” I asked him.
“Is there anyone else?” he snapped at me.
“How am I supposed to know if you were talking to her?” I retorted sharply and quickly left the kitchen.
“When are you going to fix your attitude?” he demanded angrily.
“I'm not going,” I said to him.
“Rachel, I'm not amused with you anymore. Your stubbornness isn't fun anymore.”
“Do you think I'm amused by you?” I retorted sharply. I know I'm being rude, but I'm not amused with him either.
“You're really pushing my patience.”
I was taken by surprise when he pulled me. I lost my balance as I was climbing the stairs. I shut my eyes, bracing for a fall, but it didn't happen because I was caught.....
