Chapter 4: The Alpha triplets

Nyra's pov. “What do you want here?” The black haired male questioned, his voice husky and reeking of an aura that almost suffocated me. I couldn't speak. I also couldn't take my eyes off them. They were anything but welcoming, and the strange pang in my chest made being in their presence even more unbearable. My eyes couldn't help but notice every detail on their bodies. The first one, tall, regal and muscular, kept his unwavering deep blue eyes on me, his long, dark hair covering almost half of his face. Next to him, the bare chested, broad-shouldered male stood, with deep brown eyes that stole my breath. And then leaning on the couch, the third one stared at me, expression softer than the other two, but brown eyes still screaming danger. I swallowed the lump in my throat, and lowered my gaze. “I.. I.. I'm..” “I hate that.. don't f*****g do that.” The second one let out a warning growl, and my body stiffened, single drop of sweat rolling down my cheek. “I'm here for the maid position.” I cleared my throat, still avoiding their gazes. The tension in the huge living room seemed to shift after my response, but their eyes on me made me want to fall into the ground and disappear. I felt naked being in front of them. “That's interesting.” The one leaning on the couch let out a dry chuckle, his arms crossed on his chest. “No one has showed up here in months.” I gulped. “Why do you want the job?” The first one, cold and focused, questioned. I couldn't tell them anything about my past or the abominable truth that I was a rogue. “I was a little late on the accommodations, and someone told me about this job.” I answered and tried to speak again but the second one cut me off before I could get another word out. “So, in other words, you're a lost hippie looking for a place to crash?” My lips thinned, and my palms folded beside me. I wanted to turn around and run, but it was still pouring outside, there was no way I was going to survive out there. “I promise I will do a good job.” I countered, but a scoff escaped his lips. “Promise? We don't do promises here.” His teeth gritted. “You have to earn everything here.” I remained silent, my head still lowered. “You can have the job, but rules apply, and we take them very seriously.” The cold one spoke up, and signalled something to the third one who disappeared into the darkness behind them for a short two minutes and returned with a document. “Put down your name and sign it.” He tossed it over to me, and I caught it on my chest, quickly pulling it away so that it wouldn't get wet. I flung through the pages, going through my duties and the rules.. one thing was clear, they did not want to be disturbed. I flipped to the last page and pulled a pen out of my pocket to sign it when I saw their names boldly written on one side of the agreement. Ronan, Kael and Dante Thornevale. They were triplets?! It should have been obvious, they had identical facial features, and the identical auras to go with it. Something about their intimidating auras proved that they weren't normal wolves, but I knew better than to pry. I signed the document and shoved the pen back into my pocket only to look up and find the long haired triplet.. Ronan, standing in front of me, staring down with his warm breath hitting my forehead. I almost stumbled, my heart falling into my stomach. He snatched the document from me, his eyes causing my knees to buckle. He could sense the way my heart was pounding against my chest, he could see the fear in my eyes, and I could see the satisfaction in his. “One week.” He uttered, and I blinked at him in confusion. “I don't get it.” I tried not to stutter, bands of sweat forming on my forehead. “You have one week to prove that you're worthy of this job, or you'll learn what happened to the others.” Were they going to kill me? What the hell had I gotten myself into? He stared at me again and then walked out, his intoxicating sandalwood scent wrapping itself around me and making my senses tingle with unknown excitement. Kael walked out next, he did not say a word to me, and he didn't need to, because his eyes showed me just how much danger I would be in if I dared to cross his path. Then, Dante walked by, shaking his head. “Afraid, little wolf?” He smirked. “You should be.” His footsteps faded down the halls, and I finally let out the breath I didn't know I had been holding. My hands flew to my chest, as if trying to calm my racing heart, but I was the farthest thing from calm. Perhaps coming here was a bad idea. Living with three feral males who were ready to tear me apart at the slightest mistake wasn't really what I bargained for when I packed up and left my pack. I lifted my bag with a grunt and started to make my way down the hall, wondering why it was so dark. “No one even bothered to show me to my room.” I grumbled, squinting to see in the dark, another terrible disadvantage of being wolfless. “How do I know which room is mine? There are so many rooms.” Frustration clawed at my chest as I continued to shuffle down the never-ending hallway. I couldn't help but notice the award case and the crossed hockey sticks on the wall. Were the hockey players? Goddess! I hated jocks. They always think they deserve to be worshipped, like they could get whatever they wanted and it irritated me. I grabbed the cold handle of one of the rooms, pushed it open and sauntered in, not bothering to check first if it was occupied. It wouldn't be open if it was occupied, right? I made my way in, but I froze in place when a large, warm arm grabbed my wrist from behind, gentle but firm. The air left my lungs when I felt the heavy breathing behind me. “Breaking into rooms on your first night?” His low voice edged with something too dark, came. And then I felt it… another presence moving in the shadows, and then a third. I was in their room.. or whatever this cold place was. “Looks like little wolf doesn't know her place yet.” Dante's voice rang coldly, laced with dangerous playfulness. A low growl echoed behind me. “Then maybe we should teach her.”
