Lucian lazily opened his eyes and an unfamiliar ceiling greeted him, the smooth surface painted white. Sunlight streamed through the window as it created rainbow diamonds that danced upon the canvas that is the wall in a well mannered announcement of the risen sun. He still had his clothes on. Averting his gaze to the side of the bed, the wooden digital clock on the bedside table says 10:47am in red lettering and a wooden pen pot next to it. He got off the bed before he took few sluggish steps to the window side. Looking outside, he was relieved seeing the environment he was in. He breath out softly before gently running his fingers through his hair locks. He was still standing by the window, eyes lingering the oddly interesting view when the squeaking of the bathroom door made him turn. Killian soon walked into the room. He clad in a black Nike shorts with a gray sweatshirt. His brown hair a little messy and damp. He had bristly eyebrows and his eyes had the same startling clarity as a mountain stream and the lineaments of his face were in perfect proportion to each other. His Greek nose stands perfectly with his defined cheekbones and his concrete jaw. His chiselled muscles weren't as burly as those of the male in his room, who much looked like someone in his early thirties. Lucian leaned his back against the wall next to the window as he glance at the other male. He abruptly chuckles at his own thought. "You succeeded In bringing me to your house" voice croaky, as he crossed his hands over his chest. Letting out a disgusted grunt, Killian sat on the edge of the desk a few steps away from the door. He ran his fingers through his hair then unconsciously rested them on the desk either sides of him. "Guess you eagerly wanted that, considering the fact you got yourself drunk,... Am I wrong?" He asked, a goofy grin plastered on his face. "So you bring every drunk person into your house? Is that what you are trying to explain?" Lucian reiterated and began to gesture with his hand. "You got many options, but instead you opted to bring me into your house. That I would call..." he massaged his temple in an attempt to find a perfect word. "I'm not that mischievous to have left you in the bar. Of course we had a little chat earlier so leaving you behind would have proven me ruthless. And that you should be grateful" "Grateful?" Lucian slightly chuckled "have you heard of a motel?" he snorts "well, at least I know you have a thing for me" he bragged, smirking. "by the way, thank you" he finally admitted. "Was that so hard?" Killian asked "Was it supposed to be hard? Maybe if you had added a breakfast in bed, I do thank you without you demanding for it" he mentioned wearing a mischievous expression before he pulled himself off the wall. "I will be leaving, thanks for the hospitality...I guess?" he said then walked towards the door. "You want me to drop you?" Killian suddenly asked which made Lucian stop in his track and turned to stare at him, his eyes a-sparkle with mirth. "No. did enough already" He finally said after the little awkward silent. "But you can show me the way out" he suggested to him. **** "Hello, Damien," Killian said, phone placed against his ear with his right hand and the other fingers clutching loosely on the steering wheel. He averted his gaze behind as he began to reverse out of his property "I have to admit. I can't stand you sometimes. Been ringing your line for god knows how long. Right now, I'm on my way to pick you up, Uncle Allard called, he requested us to come see him ASAP. He's been calling you, but you've been responding. Only you know what the hell you have been busy with" Killian angrily told him. "Left my phone in the living room, Selena just got it for me" he replied nonchalantly. "What? You're at your lover's place?" Killian sighed "Whatever... will be there in 20 minutes, be ready!" He urged and immediately reversed his car to a different route. "Yeah yeah. I'm gonna be. Don't get your panties in a bunch" "Utterly pathetic" Killian mumbled to himself as he dropped his phone and immediately focused on the road ahead. It was four hours fifty minutes drive, as their Uncle lives in Manaz. Allard Malcolm, a seventy-six years old man is the only surviving human of the Malcolm family after the tragic m******e of the rest of their family on June 2nd 1969. Allard being in collage at the time of the murder spared him from being turned or terminated like the rest as he was away from home. They finally arrived in front of the old Malcolm mansion and Damien dramatically got out of the car "This looks more like a hunted house now" He mocked, taking off his sunglasses, eyes fixed on the old building. Killian snorts at his words as he got out of the car "The old man sees it as treasure," said Killian as then gently slammed the car door "Maybe you are wrong about it," he said and they began to surge towards the front door. Damien unceremoniously pushed open the large doors "ugh...bloody hell...my least favourite recurring nightmare" he let out walking into the hall. "Don't make it sound that awful" Killian said from behind before they noticed Allard seated at the dinning. - "What are we looking at?" Damien asked as both eventually seated across Allard. A wooden box was placed open on the table right in front of them. Inside, has a wooden stake with some inscription carved on it. "Clearly a wooden stake" Killian replied. "Yeah, I know that, even a blind man could tell" he let his sarcasm display "... You called us for these?" Damien asked looking at their uncle for confirmation "Can you just keep it down, Damien" Killian demanded clearly not having fun with his brother's attitude. "Shouldn't we be having some liquor on the table? Because this looks like it's gonna be a really stressed family meeting" Damien suggested mindlessly of his Uncle's warning stares. "Damien," "Okay, okay. I was only trying to alleviate the tension the whole meeting seemed to be causing. Sorry Uncle" He said leaning backwards. "I remember my father saying this was the greatest weapon" the old man began. "It was originally carved when the first four Supreme vampires emerged. He said only this weapon can be used to kill them as they are nothing like the others. The stake destroys alongside the vampire. To be able to kill the four of them they had to carve four same stakes, which was enchanted by the warlock said to be the same warlock that created the vampires, and only it can kill them" he paused for some moment and silent engulfed the place before his voice pierced through once again. "Two of the stakes had been used in destroying two out of four vampires, leaving us with the other two. One of them which we haven't heard of in centuries, only know him to be called Nicholas while some call him AJIN, had long taken one of the stakes with him, way long before the two were killed. No one knows his whereabouts in the last centuries, he's more like a myth and said to be the most dangerous of them all" Allard dragged the wooden box closer to himself and then took out the stake from the box "This one here is obviously the last, which belongs to Verge, the one that turned you two" he hinted, staring at the stake in his hands. "Why now? What happened to all those days we have been asking you of how... how?" Killian voiced out "Because I haven't found it then. I knew it was in the property but not the exact place. Been searching for it since the past years, only to find out it was buried next to the grave of Malcolm DG" The old man calmly explained He placed the wooden stake back into the box then pushed it towards the two "If this wooden stake is been destroyed there is no other way to kill Verge" "You mean he will become... god?" Damien blurted out. "All the vampires will kill to make sure this weapon is destroyed. No vampire could match Verge's grit, imagine when the one thing that could kill him is been destroyed" he clicked his tongue "You need to hide it well, for now. Until you're ready" "Do they know?" Damien asked frantically. "Do they know we have it?" "They don't for now, but they will do anything to take it away from you two the moment they find out. But Verge knows" Allard explained "Let me get this straight. Verge knows we have the stake that can kill him?" Killian asked eyes narrowed at Allard who gently nodded in reply. "And he hasn't come to retrieve it?" Damien chimed "Oh... bloody hell. How impressive" **** Killian was napping on a cushion in their living room before the buzzing of his phone snarled him from his slumber. He turned to grab the phone from the wooden coffee table and placed it against his ear, forehead crinkled. "Hey" he sounded exhausted "Are you home? I'm on my way" Harvey said. "Get some drinks," Killian requested without giving a reply to the caller's question and immediately hung up before Harvey could utter a word, then snuggled down into his blanket, nesting his body comfortably on the cushion. It was 8:58 pm when Harvey finally walked into the house still fully dressed in his cop uniform carrying some nylon bags. He is a twenty-seven year bachelor who earned his place as the youngest Sargent in Harper police station. His black hair casual jumble sometimes but mostly neat and flowing. His crescent of moon eyebrows were thin and narrow and he carried an imperious nose well and his angular cheekbones carved down towards a flinty jaw. A perfect physique for a cop. His hazel eyes were orb round and darted constantly, a gleam with delight and vigour of youth. He spends most of his weekend nights here at the Malcolm's. Harvey dropped the bags on the marble island table which separated the kitchen from the rest of the living room before he walked passed Damien, and headed towards a door. He was about to go through the door when Killian mutters "It took you long enough" his eyes still shut. "Thought you were deep in your slumber, Killian" he turned to say and the young Malcolm reluctantly opened his eyes. "Could sense you from the driveway" Killian muttered as he got on his feet "failed to get myself to sleep" he said defeatedly and began to walk towards the island table. "Will be out in few minutes, got to take these off then shower" Harvey said as he pushed open the bedroom door he had been standing in front. "Hm-nm" Killian replied barely audible and then took out a bottle of beer from the nylon Harvey had returned with, he got rid of the cover and immediately began to gulp down directly from the bottle. —— "It looks like you two are up to no good," Damian said the moment he walked into the house. Killian was seated on the stool wiggling his toes, his elbows resting on the island table as his arm clinched around his half-emptied beer bottle while Harvey was busy making pasta. "What are you doing here?" Killian said glaring at the male. "You forget this is also my house as it is yours?" He replied, abruptly pulled the fridge door open and took out a bottle of water. "You are not usually home this early., that's what he meant" Harvey said pouring his already chopped vegetables into the fry pan. "I knew you two were up to no good" Damian smirked and began to walk out of the kitchen area "Don't hesitate to let me know when you two need some privacy" He blatantly said. "You're a horrible person" Harvey hissed. "I know. My nightmares don't hesitate to remind me" Damien sneered at his words walking up the stairs, arm flailing in the air. Harvey averted to Killian "You know when I first met you both, I was ready to throw him behind bar" He said then picked up the pan cover. "What changed your mind?" he glanced in Harvey's direction. "Well, I still get the urge sometimes," he says walking up to the fridge "but he's just frustratingly annoyingly, a terrible charming guy" Killian snorts then gradually began to chuckle "What's so funny?" Harvey demanded casting Killian a look before slamming the fridge door once he had retrieved a beer bottle. "N-nothing," Killian said in between chuckles. *** The night was ablaze with night city lights. Killian discreetly walks down the dark street. He clad in blacks, hoodie and a leather jacket over it. Nice denim pant and a boot. He occasionally turned behind to be sure he wasn't being followed. The barking of faraway dogs broke the silence of the night before Killian abruptly made a right turn into a darker corner . "Hey" he muttered "Will be quick" the man he came face-to-face with said, "feels like I'm being watched, you know the Orion club?" the male asked and Killian nodded in response. "He owns the place. He do be in the club ones in a month, he would be there tonight" the man said before he took a peek behind. "That's good news" "No, it's not, the place is heavily guided, you have to get a ticket and that of tonight is sold out, you won't be allowed in without the ticket" the man explains. "Even a vampire?" Killan asked. "Everyone in the club is a vampire except the humans who were compelled to be there" the man said as he took another peek obviously being in a haste to conclude the conversation. "So what do we do?" "I will try my best to get a ticket for you on his next visit. that's the best I can do for now?" The man assured. "Make it two, I will pay" Killian requested. The man nodded and immediately turned and walked into a corner disappearing into the darkness. Killian stood for a few seconds before he walked out of the corner, his head facing downwards as he pulled on his hood making his face invisible. He later drove to the bar to join his friends afterwards. "Where is Damien?" He asked pouring the beer into the tall glass. "Restroom" Harvey replied motioning Killian to pour him some drink. Killian aggressively ran his fingers through his hair lock, then picked up his glass cup afterwards, eyes travelling far. For a fleeting moment, it locked with that of Lucian who sat in his initial spot. Throughout the entire time Damien had returned, he was mostly distracted, barely paying attention to their conversation only nodded at some point as his eyes unrelenting kept locking with that of the male. Watching Lucian pay up and began to walk out of the bar, Killan began emptying his beer into his mouth, but Harvey didn't fail to notice his sudden attitude "Killian?" he called casting him a confused glance. "I need air" Killian muttered dropping the glass cup on the table. Getting to the door, he gently pushed it open, but the door still opened with a slight squeak. He walked out of the bar into the freezing night only to be left dazed as his eyes travelled the space with Lucian nowhere in sight, not even his heartbeat as he had felt earlier, and suddenly Killian felt the presence of another- a vampire, but he was foreign, he could sense it. The aura oozing from him wasn't that of a regular vampire and that sparked a certain fear in him.
