Chapter 8

1129 Words
John was the cashier at the signing event. Yesterday, two "idiots" bought almost 6,000 tickets. Even though the deposit had already dropped to 100 per ticket, John still made a decent commission. But he worried they might come back to cause trouble. To his surprise, when John woke up this morning, positive news about Soren had taken over the internet, and he regretted it so much he almost destroyed his home. According to the current deposit amount, how much commission had he missed out on? In contrast, he was the real i***t. Now, John was sulking because the pre-sale tickets in his hands had already sold out. Just then, a familiar and booming voice suddenly rang out, and John instinctively looked up. 'Damn! They are the two idiots from yesterday!' They made him lose so much commission and were boldly reselling tickets right here; it was so unfair! "Security! Security!" John shouted angrily for help. Soren's popularity was truly astonishing. Combined with yesterday's events, the number of people paying deposits on-site far exceeded expectations. Many had come specifically from other cities just to seize this opportunity. Anthony, Kevin, and others were quickly surrounded by fans. Upon realizing the tickets were genuine, they rushed to snatch them up even though the deposit price had doubled. Kevin had previously worried about selling them since the normal price was 1,000 dollars each. By the time security came to remove Anthony and the others, almost all 6,000 tickets had sold out, and some people were still desperately asking if there were any left, driving John to the brink of rage. Stepping outside of the crowded stadium, Anthony took a breath of fresh air before checking his bank account, which showed 1.94 million dollars. Even for Anthony, who had anticipated this, seeing that number made him swallow hard. In his 30 years of life, he had never seen so much money. And earned so effortlessly! When he started his business, the combined loans from both his parents and relatives only amounted to 160 thousand dollars. The 820 thousand dollars borrowed from Kevin wasn't a one-time deal, but a result of several accumulations. So, this time, using less than 100 thousand as capital to make over 1.9 million truly made Anthony want to shout with joy. Typically, when someone became wealthy overnight, their first thought was to splurge on luxury items. Anthony was no different. But he reminded himself of his debts and the prices of those luxury brands, forcing himself to remain calm. A watch costed hundreds of thousands, a car was worth millions, and even the cheapest house in this city was several million dollars. With the little money he had, he could only afford a small apartment. 'There's not enough money; if I want to give Ashley and Emily a good life, I need to keep working hard!' Anthony suppressed his excitement. Anthony could foresee the future, and he didn't worry about money; he just needed time. Behind him, he heard footsteps. Kevin, drenched in sweat, approached. "Where did those people go?" Anthony asked with a smile. "They've all left," Kevin replied, sitting down and handing Anthony a bottle of water, a smile of excitement on his face. "Didn't you give them bonuses?" Anthony teased. "Of course! Each person got 7,777 dollars," Kevin answered. "That's petty! You made tens of millions and can't even round it up to ten thousand!" Anthony scoffed. "This isn't just about rounding it up or something!" Kevin glanced at Anthony and added, "What if they got some of my luck and found someone like you?" Anthony shook his head and laughed; Kevin's attempt to flatter him was too obvious. "Anthony, you're amazing!" Kevin said, "If I had listened to you back then, I wouldn't be earning just ten million dollars now; I'd be making forty million!" "The maximum number of access available is only around ten thousand. Even if you bought them all, it's impossible to earn forty million dollars; the most you could make is twenty million," Anthony replied. "Well, that's still something!" Kevin sighed. "Give me your card number, and I'll pay you back the money I owe you, principal and interest included. After that, we'll be even," Anthony said. "Pay me back? No way!" Kevin jumped up. "Anthony, are you looking down on me or what? You helped me make money, and I already feel guilty about it. Why do you have to bring up repayment?" Anthony smiled wryly, "Kevin, debts should be repaid. It's only fair. The reason I partnered with you is that you helped me before." "Enough!" Before Anthony could finish, Kevin interjected, "If you feel the need to settle things, then pay me back the 820 thousand dollars, and I'll give you the money I've made. From then on, it'll be like we never met!" "Are you really willing to do that?" Anthony scoffed. "What if I'm not? I'm not a saint, but I'm a grateful person!" Kevin replied seriously. From Wavelink Networks and the issue of reselling purchase access, Kevin had already figured out that Anthony was not simple. In Kevin's impression, the old Anthony had been a total lowlife. He used to look down on people like him. But now, Anthony seemed like a new person, completely shedding his past despondency and instead filled with vigor, like a rising star. Kevin had a strong intuition that as long as he was with Anthony, that ten million dollars would soon turn out to be chump change! "I'll say it again—you're my best friend. I'm not asking for repayment to have you owe me a favor; I just..." At this point, Kevin grinned, "I just hope you can keep helping me make money in the future." "Alright, thank you then." Anthony accepted gladly. Compared to the money he helped Kevin earn, the 820 thousand dollars was nothing. Seeing that Anthony agreed, Kevin felt relieved, as it proved that Anthony was willing to continue helping him. Anthony seemed to think of something and added, "I've divorced Ashley. She might come to you for the repayment. You know what to do, right?" "Are you divorced?" Kevin advised, "Anthony, as someone who has been through this, I have to give you some advice—I've looked into your wife, and it's hard to find another woman like her in the world. You can't let her down!" "Divorce is the end; remarriage is the beginning. This time, I'll make her live a happy life!" Anthony gazed into the distance, speaking to Kevin yet seemingly to himself as well. After chatting a bit longer, Anthony returned to his apartment. Tomorrow was Saturday, and Ashley should have the day off. Now that he had made some money, he planned to buy something for Emily.
