Lila's P.O.V I wrote the letter back to my elders and I boldly stated my reason for not living and continuing my life in the estate. The hot tea that Diane ordered for me sparked neurons and nerves in my head that inevitably made me say my mind. After several of writing and scribblin down, the ink had finally dried on the page, the last sentence curling like a tired sigh. I stared at the paper, the words I had forced myself to write now staring back at me with a stubborn clarity...“I am done. I will not return to the estate, nor will I allow the past to dictate my future. If you cannot accept this, then you will have to let me go."
