Third Person POV
Piper stood before the gods, she noticed two thrones missing and wondered why. The entire throne room was barely lit and the crumbled pieces of the two god's thrones were all all over the floor and were slowly turning to dust and would eventually be carried away with the wind.
Zeus raised his hand and the image of Perseus killing the sun god and war god popped up. Piper's eyes widened in shock.
Years ago her beloved Perseus had told her that the gods were cruel and merciless but to commit a crime such as this and make two Olympians fade was not what she expected Perseus to do.
Silent tears streaked down her face, "He's changed." Her voice was full of pain and she spoke in a soft melodious whisper.
She hastily wiped her tears away, "How can I help?"
Ω
Erebus walked back and forth in this throne room made out of black obsidian, hanging from the walls of throne room, with large spikes sticking out of their bodies were dozens upon dozens of creatures. Some not even a part of Greek mythology. Their lifeless bodies coated the walls. The stench of death was overwhelming. The bodies were pale and shriveled. The sound of blood still dripping and hitting the floor could be heard. Erebus ignored it all.
He had done it, acquiring the artifact Draupnir was no easy feat. He walked towards the cauldron that stood in the center of his throne room and threw the artifact inside and watched as it melted, he had his men throw imperial gold and celestial bronze into the mix as well and he watched as the metals melted and mixed. He smiled with glee.
His men poured the molten metal onto a sword cast and watched them hammer it down until it gave way to the shape of a sword.
The sword was pitch black and resonated with power. The primordial deity laughed evilly, the time had come.
Ω
Perseus watched as the effects of the sun disappearing took it's toll on the Earth, food was no longer being produced, temperatures were heavily dropping, sickness took hold on many and many of the humans had died.
The gods had done nothing to stop this, yet again. Slowly but surely their time would come. It would come very soon.
Perseus stood before the Empire State building with his cloak over his head and watched carefully as if sensing the gods would act soon.
He was right.
Several flashes flashed around him as the remaining Olympians stood before him in their armor, staring at him with a mixture of fear and anger. Afterall, he did kill their minor gods and two of their powerful Olympians.
Even Perseus knew he couldn't fight all of the Olympians at once and be victorious but unlike the gods he had fought and honed his skills over the years and if he died, then he would die knowing that he would be taking more of the gods out.
"I see you're missing two of your dogs Zeus, may I ask what happened to them?" He got the reaction he had hoped as his question angered the King.
Thunderbolts rained down from the heavens where Perseus stood and the ground beneath him was immediately destroyed. However standing in the crater caused by the thunderbolt stood Perseus with the manifestation of a tengu around him, it's arms and torso already visible.
"You'll have to try harder than that Zeus." Perseus didn't falter and vanished and reappeared behind Zeus and kicked him and watched as he flew into several buildings and out the other end.
The others seeing their King being tossed around so effortlessly charged at the young immortal and Perseus laughed as he alternated between them and started dodging their attacks one by one. With each miss the gods' weapons to strike the ground and would leave in it's place another crater.
How truly sad that the god's had promised to protect the planet were here destroying it piece by piece.
That thought angered Perseus as the manifestation around him grew larger and larger as it reacted to his anger and power and there he stood in the center of a large humanoid figure with the head of a tengu, four arms each holding a sword and a pair of wings behind it's back. Each of the swords that the tengu was carrying lit up with the black flames of Shiva as he charged.
The gods increased in size one by one to match the immense size of Perseus' tengu manifestation but even that wasn't close enough as even with their full height the tengu manifestation was still bigger. The tengu flapped its large wings and the gods flew back right away.
No matter what the gods did, whether it be strike him with their powers or weapons the tengu manifestation was designed to be an impenetrable defense that nothing could get across.
And nothing did.
Perseus laughed as he looked on at the futile attempts of the gods get more desperate with each passing minute, Zeus had recovered by then and had started hurling his weak thunderbolts once again.
The black flames on his swords intensified as Perseus slashed down and despite being so huge the tengu manifestation moved with such speed that the gods had a tough time keeping up.
Perseus reappeared right behind the wisdom goddess Athena and before she could react all four swords of the tengu pierced her body as the black flames of Shiva burned her body alive and the smell of burnt flesh was in the air.
Perseus smirked, what were they going to do without their battle strategist now?
The tengu withdrew its blades from the goddess' body and the gods watched as one of their own fell to the ground, the life leaving her eyes.
The gods struck with more force afterwards after seeing how easily he was able to decapitate Athena.
Perseus had plenty of stamina left, after all his master did teach him to keep a clear head during battle, the monks in India had taught him the very same. He didn't let his anger cloud his judgement no matter how angry he was with the gods for being so cruel to humanity.
The love goddess was the first to appear in front of him. It was laughable that a weakly love goddess would stand up to him after all that he's done to prove that he was much stronger than her and the rest of the Olympians.
Perseus used one of the blades of the tengu to pierce the earth beneath them, seconds later the earth trembled as an earthquake so strong that the world had never been witness to before made the earth shake. Poseidon was the only one who was able to withstand it but even he was having a little trouble standing.
Perseus watched as the love goddess fell to the ground in seconds, not being able to keep her balance. The tengu expanded its wings and flew up towards the sky and dove down towards the love goddess like a hawk about to take out it's prey. It's swords were all pointed down in front of him.
A crash so loud was heard seconds later as the tengu dived down with such force that it impaled the love goddess and the force of the dive carried her all the way to the underworld. The gods peered down the large crater as the underworld was very much visible to them and the rest of the world. Their resolve weakening even more as they saw the love goddess laying there motionless with four large sword wounds across her body.
Perseus flew out of the large crater and floated in midair as the tengu retracted its large wings back into its back.
Perseus crossed his arms across his chest, "This is the power of Olympus? Pathetic. To think that such weak gods ruled for centuries."
The blacksmith god of Olympus roared in anger at seeing his wife being beaten and killed so easily.
Perseus laughed, "You are considered one of the weakest gods, Hephaestus. You really think you have much of a chance?"
That did nothing but anger the blacksmith god even more as fires from the underworld reacted to his anger and volcanoes formed and spewed out lava at Perseus until it coated the tengu and hardened.
The gods relaxed but unfortunately for them the hardened lava cracked as Perseus' tengu expanded his wings out once more and used all four of his hands to pry the hardened lava off of it's body.
"You will be joining your slut of a wife soon enough." Perseus said as he flew towards the blacksmith god and his tengu grabbed him by his head and smashed his body against the broken earth.
"Now, which leg of yours was the bad one?" Perseus chuckled evilly, "Was it your right one?" Perseus' tengu raised one of its four arms and slice the blacksmith's right leg off.
Hephaestus' screams of agony rang in the ears of the other Olympians.
"No? Maybe it was your left?" Perseus' tengu raised its left arm and sliced Hephaestus' left leg off. The black flames of Shiva burned away both limbs.
Golden ichor flooded the earth as Perseus watched as the blacksmith god cried in pain. "Unlike you gods, I'm merciful and will end your pain soon enough."
Perseus repeated exactly what he did to Ares with Hephaestus and the black flames of Shiva devoured the blacksmith god's golden heart.
"3 down. Who's next?" Perseus said daringly as the remaining gods looked on with uncertainty evident on their faces, nothing they did worked against Perseus.
Silver arrows flew into the back of the tengu as Perseus turned around with curiosity, "Oh? So you're hear to avenge your fallen brother just as that fool god tried to avenge his w***e of a wife? How futile." Perseus shook his head. This was starting to become a bore.
The day was starting to end and the moon was already high up in the night sky. The moon goddess was using the moon to strengthen herself.
Still a futile attempt in Perseus book.
Perseus' tengu batted her away before she could even close up on him, no matter how much she increased her speed the tengu was always faster and would bat her away before she could get much closer. Perseus sighed. He would show the moon goddess just how much he appreciated the moon.
Perseus' tengu slammed two of it's hands against one another and power resonated off of him in waves, the debri that was on the ground caused by Perseus' earthquake levitated and formed a giant rock above the moon goddess. Perseus snapped his fingers and the meteor was covered in the black flames of Shiva.
The moon goddess looked on with fear.
"There is no escape moon goddess, let's say you escape the impact, you won't be able to escape my black flames."
Perseus laughed as he raised his arm and dropped it and the meteor followed its command and dropped on top of the moon goddess who tried to run away but despite her attempt she could not run away. The impact crushed her body and the black flames of Shiva burned her body away until there was nothing more.
The rest of the remaining Olympians tried scrambling away after the impact, they had realized they stood no chance against Perseus.
Hermes was the first who tried running away, the wings on his sandals were bright and contrasted with the midnight sky. Perseus snapped his fingers and the wings on Hermes' sandals caught fire and burned away and the messenger god fell to the ground and even then he tried scrambling away with fear on his face.
Perseus' tengu took some slow steps and caught up to Hermes, the other gods tried to save him and were batted away by each of the tengu's hands.
"Oh I haven't forgotten about your interference in my life either messenger god." Perseus stared down at Hermes for quite a while before he spoke again, "If it hadn't been for you then none of this would've happened. You were the one who spread the news around that Helen that had kidnapped. You drama loving fool. If you hadn't of said anything then Agamemnon would not have heard and he wouldn have marched towards Troy to get that worthless princess back and Achilles would not have had to die."
Perseus' tengu grabbed the messenger god and lifted him towards Perseus until they were face to face, "Maybe if someone had cut your tongue off all those years ago then you wouldn't have gone off and been so dramatic." Perseus unsheathed his blade from where it was strapped behind his back and grabbed the messenger god's face and grabbed his tongue. His sword lit up in a blaze with the black flames of Shiva as Perseus slowly cut the messenger god's tongue off.
"Now that's more like it, no more drama from the messenger god himself!" Perseus laughed at the messenger god's poor attempt to grow his tongue back, but it was no use, the black flames of Shiva had destroyed every cell in his mouth that a tongue would not be growing back.
What had happened to Ares and Hephaestus was repeated a third time as the black flames of Shiva burned away the golden heart of Hermes as yet another immortal joined the void.
There stood only four gods in front of him.
Demeter was worthless.
Perseus took care of her swiftly and easily and dismembered her head from her body. He also did the same with Hera.
Now what was to come would be the best challenge he would ever receive tonight. The big three stood before him in all of their glory.
No one had bested them if they were together but today would be the day that Perseus broke that legend and created a new one.
Poseidon raised his trident the surrounding area was flooded with water up until Perseus' knees. Hades vanished after he put on his helm and the shadows within the area darkened so much to the point that Perseus couldn't see anything. Zeus threw his thunderbolt and the water crackled with electricity and since Perseus' body was submerged under the water he was hit the full effect of the shock and flew back hundreds of feet where he met Hades who wasted no time in hitting him back towards the ground and pummelled Perseus, the tengu was still around him and took most of the hits but with the effect of the shock and the electricity still coursing through his body the tengu vanished moments later.
Perseus gingerly got up but barely had any time to breathe as the big three were on him again, thunderbolts, skeleton warriors, spears made out of water and ice were all thrown at him, maybe it was his luck or maybe out of pure skill but he did manage to dodge them all and allowed himself to breathe.
This was starting to be interesting, it had been a while since Perseus let out his full power. He had to smirk at that, he hated restraining his full power.
His eyes glowed a bright emerald green as the blue tengu made out of energy manifested itself around him once more and he charged towards the big three and as soon as he got to them, he created a dome made out of the black flames of Shiva around himself and Hades.
If he couldn't take them out all at once then he would do it one by one.
Divide and conquer.
The King of the Underworld was no pushover, but then again he was also part of the big three. The god had an endless supply of power and energy, Perseus' tengu was constantly having to bat away all the skeleton warriors that Hades would conjure up and his black flames would burn them away. He also realized that the other two, Zeus and Poseidon, were on the outside trying to put the flames out but what they didn't know was that the black flames of Shiva were extinguishable and would burn until either they burned all of what they were burning or until Perseus commanded it to stop and Perseus had no plans on stopping anytime soon.
Perseus realized that the key to Hades' power was his helm, no helm, and he would not have his endless supply of power.
His mind went through several different occasions and plans and he finally thought of one that would be perfect.
"I respect your courage and your power Hades but this is not a fight you can win."
Hades sneered and huffed in annoyance, "You insolent fool, I have been alive for eons, you know nothing about my power." He yelled the last bit as the ground exploded between them as the full power of the underworld was released onto him.
That was exactly what Perseus wanted.
The flames of the underworld once again tried to burn him but he pushed back with his black flames and a stand still took place. Perseus' tengu brought it's blades down only to be met with Hades using the jewels of the underworld as a shield to protect himself against them.
That was his biggest mistake. By allowing himself to be focused on protecting himself against the fire and Perseus' tengu he forgot that Perseus could also attack. Perseus rushed forward and drove his blade through the god's chest and out his back.
Perseus had killed a member of the big three.
He dropped the dome of fire as the remaining two looked at him in disgust for killing yet another Olympian.
Perseus' tengu vanished as a means to preserve more power. Fighting too many of the Olympians and using a lot of his powers had left him a little out of breath and low on stamina. But the adrenaline coursing through his veins would get him through.
"Would you like to dance?"
Fighting was like a dance to him, and he loved the thrill of a fight.
Perseus' tengu manifested around him once again, but only this time in its ribcage form. They both charged at him once more, fighting two of the big three was much easier and he was much faster than them.
How pathetic that the gods still relied on brute force only.
By now the entire city of Manhattan was in rubbles, there was no human life in sight. Poseidon raised his arm and waves from all around crashed down onto Perseus.
Perseus control over water, though it wasn't as good as his father Poseidon's, was still a force to be reckon with so it wasn't a surprise when he also raised his arm and the waves stopped in midair. The two beings were fighting for control.
Eventually Poseidon's force won and the waves crashed down onto Perseus before he could move out the way and Zeus without hesitation fired thunderbolt after thunderbolt, he even went as far as conjuring up eagles made out of pure electricity to dive into the lake that Poseidon had just created to attack Perseus and electrocute him.
Perseus' eyes glowed a bright emerald green as his tengu grew in size and expanded its wings and he shot out of the water. He was breathing heavily.
Perseus had to end this as quickly as possible.
All four blades of the tengu caught on fire as he dove towards Zeus and Poseidon, slashing and hacking away at the two as they could barely keep up with it's speed. Cuts were all over their bodies as they bled heavily.
Perseus stood before the two gods as they were on their knees out of power, they once bright eyes now a dull lifeless color.
"You may have been my birth father but you were never there for me. Always pushing me away and acting like I didn't exist. I prayed to you everyday and night and you didn't answer. You instead chose to spend your life with other women or with that weakling fool son of yours down in Atlantis." Perseus had a tear roll down his cheek as he angrily brushed it away. "You are no father of mine sea god."
Perseus' tengu brought both of its blades down and the remaining two gods of the big three were left defenceless as their heads were also dismembered from their bodies. Their bodies fading away and returning to the void.
Perseus dropped to knees as his tengu disappeared. He knew he would pass out soon due to the sheer amount of power he had used.
Footsteps were heard behind him as he panted heavily on the floor and a woman kneeled gently beside him and rubbed his back.
"You are not a monster Perseus."
He looked up and saw the bright orange eyes of the goddess of the hearth peering down at him. He smiled, Hestia was always his favorite goddess and she was always there for him when he prayed.
"While I do not fully agree with what you did tonight, you only did what you thought was right so for that I can not blame you." Hestia spoke in a soft motherly tone. "Now come on, you need some rest."
Hestia coughed up blood seconds later as she looked down to see a pitch black blade protruding out of her chest. Her body fell towards the ground, the life slowly leaving her.
Erebus stood behind the two as he looked down at them, "You did well Perseus, you managed to do what no man has ever done before. But now I have no need for you." Erebus laughed evilly as he brought his blade down and pierced Perseus through his chest and turned around and walked away to leave him to his impending doom.
Perseus coughed up unhealthy amounts of blood and had trouble bleeding.
"Perseus!" His vision was starting to get blurry but he managed to look up and caught sight of those beautiful kaleidoscope eyes that he fell in love with years ago looking down at him.
"Piper..?" He softly managed to whisper as his beloved cradled his vulnerable body in her arms and pushed the hair that was in his eyes away and traced his face with her fingers.
She had missed him dearly and this was not how she wanted them to reunite.
Perseus closed his eyes, faintly hearing the love of his life shouting his name.
Ω
It was a while before Perseus woke up, he opened his eyes and looked around him, no longer was he in Manhattan. He looked around, Piper wasn't here next to him, he was in a garden with a variety of flowers, in front of him a big castle loomed above the clouds, there were 3 suns in the sky. It looked like a utopia.
"I see you're awake, my boy." Perseus looked around and heard footsteps and look up, in front of him stood a fairly tall man with long gray hair, he was wearing a robe, but the most distinct feature was the eyepatch he was wearing over his right eye.
"Where am I?" Perseus asked, "And who are you?"
The man in front of him laughed, and raised his arms and looked around, "Look around my boy! You're in Asgard!"
"Allow me to introduce myself, I am Odin."
"But how? Odin is dead, that's not possible."
"You are partially correct, in your mythology when a god dies they fade and their spirit goes back to the Void, or I should say Chaos, but in our world, our spirits stay trapped forever in Asgard. You however are the only link between me and Midgard my boy." Odin stated.
"So you're a ghost? And not a god?" Perseus asked, unsure of himself.
"Yes, you are correct, we after simply just a shell of our former life. "Odin said sadly.
"You said link, what link?" Perseus asked.
Odin sighed, "You my boy, are our only hope. You are the last child of the Aesir. What you have done to the Greek Pantheon was the start of Ragnarok, the world is ending, Perseus. I'm afraid you have been the cause of it. But there is always a way. My time is up my boy, we will surely talk again, I have healed your wound with the amount of power I have left, do not fail us young one, we are all counting on you."
The scenery changed, he was dazed for a few seconds but he looked around and saw that he was in another garden, there was a big tree in the middle with mountains encasing it, it's branches rose to the heavens and the canopy was huge, his eyes landed on the figure in front of him, her face was covered in a veil but she took it off the moment Perseus locked eyes with her, her eyes were a beautiful bright purple , her hair was blonde and it was shining, she radiated beauty and power.
"Welcome to my home, my son, I've missed you."
A/N - stay tuned, more to come. this was probably my favorite chapter to write. as usual if you have any ideas, feel free to pm me and I will try to incorporate them into the story. also yes, i realize that Perseus is op as f**k but that's the point of the story, it will have a unique ending.
