the Range Rover door slammed shut.

Damian didn't look at me . his tie was loose. jaw clenched. the air smelled like anger and expensive cologne.

"do you know what you just did?" he asked. voice quiet, too quiet.

I stared at my hands. they were still shaking. "I... you kissed me"

"I had to." he snapped. then rubbed his face. "damn it.

the driver pulled off. silence. heavy silence.

"you kissed me back" he said suddenly I whispered my head to him. "I was in shock.

"were you?" His gray eyes finally met mine. "because it didn't look like shock."

my face burned. " Rule #1. No kissing. you broke it."

I didn't answer. because I did.

I got out.

as the car drove away. my phone buzzed.
