The next morning, I was awoken by the brilliant rays of the sun peeking through my blinds. I rolled over on my back, rubbing my eyes gently. I let a comforting stretch run through my body and slowly got out of bed. I looked around at the massive room, remembering how kind Alpha Cato was kind enough to give me a room like this. “This is going to be your room for now. I hope you like it.”, he said as he opened the door for me. Damien came in after us with my bags. “Oh, she got the big room. I’m jealous.”, Damien said as he placed my bags on the king sized bed. I looked around the room for a moment. I had to be the size of a studio apartment with a huge walk-in closet, a full bathroom, and a balcony. The walls were a soft cream color with hand painted rose vines on an accent wall. The furniture was a dark mahogany which contrasted well with the light hardwood floors. This room had a feel of love and warmth. “This is incredible. Are you sure it’s okay that I have a room like this, sir?”, I asked. Alpha Cato laughed aloud and hugged me to his side. “Why not? I felt like this room suited you, beside I think she would’ve wanted you to stay here.”, he said as he looked around the room with nostalgia. “Her?”, I inquired carefully. He looked down at me with a smile. “My mother, the past Luna of the pack. This was her “work” room. She would sow, do paperwork, initiate battle plans, everything right here.”, he said. That’s why I sensed what I did earlier. Her aura and energy are still here, like a soft blanket covering the walls and furniture. I thanked Alpha Cato excessively before he left to go to bed. For a few moments, it was just Damien and I. He carefully hung up my clothes while I placed some clothes in the dresser. When we were finished, a stale awkwardness radiated between us. “Thank you for your help.”, I said avoiding his eyes. He didn’t respond at all, instead he gently wrapped his hands around my waist. I closed my eyes, trying to ignore his heat consuming me. He snuggled his face into the crook of my neck and inhaled deeply. I gasped shallowly, feeling my body shiver. It wasn’t fair how easily he got me. “Good night.”, he said before placing a soft, lingering kiss on my neck. I stood frozen in place, unable to say anything as he left.
I groaned aloud, feeling terrible for not saying anything. “Come on, Nadoria. That wasn’t cool at all. He was trying. Why couldn’t you?”, I said pulling at my hair. I was beyond frustrated with myself but in my defense, this was all new to me. I decided to take a bath to ease my frustrations. Dr. Wells, the pack’s Luna, left me a “self-care kit” in the bathroom. There were real rose petals, oils, and bath bombs. I decided to use the roses and poured a hint of lavender oil in the bath, before getting in. The heat from the water, instantly put me at ease. I sighed aloud, slipping deeper into the tub. I draped my arms on the sides of the tub and closed my eyes. The very first thing I thought of was Damien. It seems that ever since we met, he’s never been far from my thoughts. To be honest, he’s all that I can think about. His beautiful smile, his strong build, and those eyes, I’m practically at his mercy. I grumbled to myself, making bubbles in the water. This was happening far too fast, but should I be so scared? I mean, I’m clearly old enough to be married and even a mother, so should I be so quick to push him away? We are “mates”, after all. It’s meant to be.
I carefully rose out of the tub and dried myself off. I wrapped the towel around me, brushed my teeth, and headed out into my bedroom. I then opened my closet and chose my clothes carefully. I put on a spaghetti-strapped green tank, some jean capris, and a pair of sandals. I then sat at the vanity and let my hair fall down to my waist. I then put on some light makeup. I really wanted to make a good impression on everyone. It was the least I could do for Damien after what I didn’t do last night. I looked into the vanity’s mirror, feeling guilt swallow me whole. I sighed and gently rested my forehead on my arms. “Keep it together. You are the future Luna of a pack. Act like it!”, I thought to myself. I took a few deep breaths and reached for the bedroom door knob. Right as I did this, a knock sounded at the door. I waited a few seconds before answering. It was Damien. He was wearing black jeans and a red flannel, setting my soul on fire. I swallowed hard as he eyed me up and down, then back down again. “You look incredible.”, he said with a playful grin. I blushed and looked away. "Thank you...so do you.", I said in a small voice. He leaned in, gently kissed my cheek before placing his hand on the small of my back. "Shall we?", he asked. I nodded. With that, he gave me a tour of the pack house.
The only term I could use to describe the pack house is the term ‘huge’. Over twenty people lived in the house, comfortably. How the house was set up was in quadrants. It was divided by a center courtyard that had four different side walks coming from it, dividing the house into fours. For example, Damien and I lived in the second quadrant, the farthest quadrant on the right side of the house towards the back. The Alpha and Luna lived in the first quadrant, the closet quadrant on the left side of the house, towards the driveway. They had four recreational rooms, one for each quad, five bathrooms per quad, one kitchen per quad, and two movie rooms to share. I was baffled and impressed how well thought out the floor plan was and how beautiful the set up was. It was almost like a college dormitory but more like a home. “There’s one more thing I’d like to show you.”, Damien said with a mischievous grin. I looked suspiciously at him before following him out of the house, through the garden in the backyard, and into the forest.
