“You're not buying much,” Ciara said as they tried to keep their items separated in the cart.
Ciara chose meatless items that could be eaten cold and from the container if necessary.
“Don't buy much in cans if you plan to store them,” Lilly said. “Cans rust too fast. You knew that about the tropics, didn't you?”
“Did you learn that here or from your short stint in Puerto Rico?” Ciara asked as she threw a sideways smile.
People pushed past and others were in such a hurry that items were being knocked from shelves and kicked aside on the floor.
“I've canned a lot of homegrown stuff,” Lilly said. “We'll share it. But you're not buying a lot either. You vegetarians ever eat?”
