Chapter SixThey arrived at a moonlit wreckage-strewn beach. The hulk still dragged the skiff higher up the white sand beach, but the rear was submerged. The motor was underwater. The man made noises that clearly said he was disappointed, but he lifted Rico to the sand and removed his life vest. Although conscious, Rico's knees buckled and it was plain to see that he had no strength left. Even though it was probably an embarrassing position for Rico to find himself, the man hoisted him over his shoulder. With a mighty one-arm tug, the man pulled the boat higher onto the sand.
