EPILOGUE The rain pounded upon the brick and stone streets as the cool air of the alley stirred around me. My coat and hat had been soaked from the moisture falling all around me. The only light that could be seen was that of the moon that shone into the alley. I stood in the darkness across from the church as mourners entered the building. They trudged through the rain slowly and without any hope as their faces reflected the pain and loss in their lives. I could see that Mary’s family had arrived in the city without my assistance in finding any resources for Mary’s burial. The whiskery had taken me for days and entrenched me within our home as I drowned the memories of her. I could not stop the pain of seeing the light from within the church and the faint image of the coffin on display
