"I suppose that could suffice to pin me, but for all I know, it could've been you," Ari rolled her eyes. "Really?" Kanti scoffed. "Not necessarily at first," she said and paused when Vicky returned with burgers and tomato paste sachets. Ari smiled and accepted them, thanking her. She made a note to but thank Vicky with a gift because she just saved someone's a*s. Returning to the conversation at hand, continued, "I thought it was someone you hired. And after your job was done, you came to my place of work with fake years in your eyes to tell me the 'big fat sad news'," Ari said in a bored tone as she made air quotes. "But," Ari held up her finger, silencing Kanti. She made a small hole in the using her canines. then, without warning, she squeezed the entire sachet in Kanti's direction and directly onto her cream blouse, making her shriek and jump back at the mess. "What the f**k?!" Kanti was angry. It cost her a fortune and now it was ruined with tomato paste. "Oh, pish posh," Ari said, taking the napkin that came with the burger and stepping closer to speak lowly as she wiped and spread the paste all over the chest and collar area. "One thing about me is that I have a sharp eye, Kanti. And I might have noticed a bloodstain beneath this expensive collar. It's quite careless of you to killed Charles in your work clothes." "You are good. You are so good," Kanti said, her face breaking into a smile as she looked down at her stained blouse. Ari was about to say something when she noticed movement from the corner of her eye. She turned her head and her eyes widened when she saw Kaden leaning on the railing and looking down at them from the second floor. "He's cute," Kanti said dreamily, changing the subject. She waved, forgetting what her blouse looked like. Kaden smiled as he waved back. "You're actually smarter than I'd thought," Ari smirked as she tossed the napkin in the bin. "Do tell me about it," Kanti laughed. "Not only do you have me as an alibi, but you also have the word of all those delegates." "And Vicky's," Kanti added triumphantly. The two girls stared at each other before breaking in a fit of laughter as they embraced each other. "Thank you so much," Ari said and shrieked when Kanti grabbed her into a tight hug. "No need. I did what any good sister would," Kanti said as she pulled away from the hug, looking down to see a lighter but clearly stained outline of boobs on Ari's white shirt. She just sighed, running a hand through her hair. "How long did it take you to plan it?" she asked, taking a bite out of the burger and giving Kanti to take one too. "Not that long. I started planning after he came onto me at the lodge, remember?" she said as she ate. "Oh yeah," Ari chuckled at the memory. "Camera's don't record sounds, do they?" She asked as she pulled her phone out. "We can never be sure," Ari replied as she took her phone out as well. "Well in that case," Kanti turned her phone's screen to her cousin to proofread the message she just typed. To: Jerry Please erase the camera footage recorded between 13:27 and 14:03 at Dyke Inc. asap. Will reward you tonight :* "I don't know how you're still with your girlfriend," Ari said in disgust, making Kanti sigh aloud. "She loves all of me. Oh, he said it's all erased," Kanti said as she read on her phone. "Good," Ari said as she pulled an unsuspecting Kanti into a hug. "Uhm, why?" Kanti awkwardly wrapped her arms around Ari. "The new footage should show that I'm comforting a distressed hippie." "That's enough," Kanti pulled away and dragged Ari towards the exit. Ari took a chance and turned her head, her eyes scanning the place for a pair of challenging eyes. Their eyes met and they stared at each other, each daring the other to break eye contact first. Suddenly, the side of Ari's face hit the glass door, making her break eye contact first for the second time that afternoon. "Damn you, Kanti!" Ari hissed as she reached down to pick her phone up that fell from her hand when she hit the door. "You weren't listening to me," Kanti whined like a little kid. "That's the second time I'm breaking eye contact with him today," Ari complained as she walked ahead to her car. "And so?" Kanti asked as she followed. She did not understand what the fuss with Ari was. "It's an unspoken rule to not break eye contact with a man first." Rules were meant to be followed to the nip. It made things function smoothly, but what's life without breaking a little rule? To Kanti, hearts and rules were the same thing: you can't be human if you didn't break either or. "Also, he'll now think I can't look him in the eyes," Ari groaned, hitting her head. "Here we go again," Kanti rolled her eyes as Ari got behind the wheel. Kanti knew not to get in between Ari and her competitions. She tends to take those a little too seriously. "I mean, how do I prove my capability if I can't maintain eye contact, you know?" Ari asked a completely zoned out Kanti. Ari didn't seem to notice as she continued with her one-man argument.
