She thought about the idea of sharing a bed with him but against all better judgement, she knew they wouldn't be getting any sleep.
"No, I'll pass. Let me show you to your room?" She tried to lighten the blow but didn't need to because Kaden understood her judgement. He just nodded and pulled her close to him and they went up stairs. She opened a room that was two doors from hers and gestured for him to enter. Once she made sure he was settled, she left and went to her own room, getting ready for bed.
She couldn't help calm down the butterflies in her stomach as she thought of him being as close as two doors away. A part of her was wishing she'd just slept with him, but another wanted to convince her otherwise. Little did she know he had the same thoughts running through his mind as he laid down.
He woke up at six a.m. and washed his face. He then checked his calendar and groaned when he saw that he had a meeting scheduled in the next two and a half hours. He also added Claudia's anniversary so his to-do list so he'd stop at a shop and purchase a gift for her.
He made the bed, returned everything to way he had found it before closing the door behind him and going to her bedroom. He knocked twice and entered when he didn't hear an answer. He peaked in and a smile found a way on his face when he saw her sleeping. He waited up to her and pulled the covers over her body, placing a light kiss on her neck. He felt her vein throbbing as he did so.
Tearing a small paper from a random book he saw on her work desk, he wrote down two words: 'You're Beautiful' and signed the note before pasting it on her mirror with Bostik and leaving her room to call for a cab.
On the way to his house, her face and small frame was all that was on his mind. He sat in the backseat with a smug smile and looking like a lovestruck, hormonal teenage boy. She was slowly tugging at his heartstrings and even though his instincts were warning him against it, he welcomed the feeling.
Once he got to his house and did his usual morning routine, he left for the office. He reached twenty minutes ahead of time and sent an email to his secretary informing her that he'd be taking Friday off and to cancel all his meetings except one he was personally interested in: Justin Delores.
15:45
"Mr Delores has arrived," his secretary said as she stood by the door and he signalled her to let him in. He got up, clearly irritated and met the man halfway.
"Mr Delores, I hope you're aware I'm a very busy man," he said in a deep tone as he eyed the man down. What a wreck, he thought to himself.
"I know, and I'm sorry for keeping you waiting," Justin said as he loosened his tie. He had been up and down ever since Ari kicked him out.
"Let me hear your excuse this time."
"You see, my wife-to-be and I aren't on very good terms right now."
"I don't really care about other people's personal matters. I warned you to keep your personal and professional lives apart, didn't I?" The disadvantage man just stood there staring at the floor, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. Kaden looked at the man, scrunching his nose as he folded his arms and asked, "You came empty-handed?"
Justin's eyes shoot up and widened as he feared his worst nightmare. Kaden tried going easy on him, so he asked, "Where's the presentation you owe me?"
"Sir, m-my wife destroyed everything." Kaden looked at him in amusement, waiting for him to continue. "I came home one morning to find my belongings destroyed, my computer and other stuff I owned were floating in the pool all drenched and my car was standing on two working tyres each."
Kaden ran a hand over his face as he snickered. Normally people would come up excuses such as their computer being hacked, but his excuse topped all others.
He decided to play along and ask, "Why would you want to marry such a psycho?"
"No sir, she's not really a psycho. She can be sweet sometimes. When she's not mad that's if."
"And what did you do to deserve such?" Kaden asked and Justin didn't want to ruin his reputation any further so he twisted the truth.
"I didn't do anything. I regret to say she suffers from bipolar." Kaden's mouth formed an 'o' as he thought of the validity of the man's story.
"Are you late because of her?"
"No... I mean yes. How do I explain this," he wondered out loud as his eyes looked at everything but Kaden. "She told me to move out so I've been having a little trouble with lodging.".
"Tell you what my good man," Kaden rested his hand upon Justin's shoulder which took him by surprise. I'm not going to lose my job after all, be thought as he waited for what Kaden had to say.
"I have a friend that works in the filming industry," he paused, letting that little information sink in. "I could hook you up with him whenever. Maybe you could even start your very own standup comedy or reality show."
