Mary Dawson's email arrived the same day of the interview. She offered me the role, and I turned it down. It's the smart thing to do because Zach will surely find out my secret if I start spending a good deal of the day with him.
Mary had called to confirm if the email I replied her was a mistake. She'd gone from shock to pure annoyance when I told her I couldn't take the job. I don't blame her. No one in their right mind would turn down such a massive opportunity.
Two days have gone by since that call. None of the other places have contacted me for an interview. I want to think that the holidays have something to do with it, but those job ads were posted as ‘holiday gigs.’
I'm beginning to fear that Mrs. Dawson or her boss spread the word that no one is to give me a chance
