CHAPTER THIRTEEN

CHAPTER THIRTEEN Evan POV My car drove into the palace without hesitation. I didn’t know why my mother had called—only that her voice had sounded low, and before I could ask what was wrong, she cut the call. I swear, if it’s my dad again, I might have to discard all fatherly respect. He had always done things to hurt her. My mother was his mate, yet he kept marrying different mistresses, ignoring the fact that whenever an Alpha sleeps with someone other than his mate, she feels the pain—like a knife stabbing into her heart. I got down from the car, ignoring the guards’ greetings, and walked toward her chamber. I remembered when I was younger—how my mother would curl up in bed in pain while he lay in another woman’s arms. I swore that day I would never have a mate. As I got to my mother’s chamber, I found Ben sitting by the door with his head down. I frowned. “Ben?” He looked up and stood when he saw me. “Evan.” “What are you doing here? Aren’t you at the party?” I asked, confused. He stepped closer so I could see his face under the moonlight. “I came as soon as I heard.” I frowned. “Heard what?” “Your mom… you haven’t heard, have you?” Ben asked carefully, choosing his words. I rolled my eyes. What’s wrong with him? Why does he sound drunk? “Ben Hindwid, if you want to talk, talk. You know how much I hate wasting words,” I said lowly, my voice laced with danger. Ben ran a hand through his dirty blond hair, clearly frustrated. “Damn… I hate to be the bearer of bad news.” “Ben…” I repeated, my voice dripping with ice. “Your dad divorced the Luna,” Ben blurted. Silence. He sighed in frustration. “Man, I thought you knew. If I had known you didn’t, I would’ve waited till tomorrow. I—” “Who did you hear it from?” I asked calmly, cutting him off. My voice was calm—too calm. Not the anger he expected. Maybe that’s why it took him a moment to reply. “My dad. He called while I was at the party,” he said slowly. I nodded and turned toward the throne room. “Wait.” Ben stepped in front of me, his face full of worry. “Where are you going?” I looked at him calmly, hands in my jacket, eyes hooded. “Move, Ben. Tonight is the full moon. You don’t want to get berserk over the scent of blood and hurt humans. Go back to the party—it’ll mask the scent.” Ben shook his head. “I’m worried about you. Your voice is too calm.” I smiled—a smile that wasn’t really a smile. “Is it?” “Look, Evan, it’s the full moon. Whatever you want to do, leave it till tomorrow.” “You’re worried I’ll lose control?” I cut in. “Evan, it’s the full moon. Any werewolf would struggle to keep control—and you’re no normal werewolf,” Ben said. “Have you ever seen me lose control?” I asked. “But—” “Go home, Ben.” My cold eyes met his. He hesitated, then swallowed whatever he wanted to say. “Don’t act recklessly,” he added before finally leaving. I turned my gaze to the palace doors. Don’t act recklessly? The old man had insulted my mother. It was a disgrace for a Luna to be divorced by her Alpha, yet my father had done it—after everything she endured. What right did he have? I reached the chamber doors. The guards stepped forward. “Third Prince, the Alpha—” I didn’t let them finish. With a flick of my hand, I released pressure that sent them crashing into the wall. The doors opened on their own as I approached. I didn’t need to touch them—my anger was enough. Maybe it was the full moon… or maybe not. But my wolves—Cole and Ash—whom I always kept in check, burned with rage. Yes. Two wolves. I’m a hybrid. A rare one. I stepped inside. The room was silent—but I wasn’t fooled. I could smell him. Not here… but inside the inner chamber. I stormed in and found him sitting with a glass of wine, smiling. He reeked of alcohol, yet looked perfectly composed. “You’re late,” he said, as if nothing had happened. Anger surged through me. “Dead men don’t talk.” He smiled, almost pleased. “Tell me… why did you do it?” I asked. “My mother was a good Luna. Despite everything, she stayed. She endured. And you discarded her like that?” He stood. “Evan, I am your Alpha. Is that how you speak to me?” “You can go to hell with that,” I snapped. He smirked—and released his pressure. It slammed into me. I groaned as my knee hit the ground. “You may think being born a True Alpha makes you invincible,” he said, stepping closer. “But before a crowned Alpha, you are nothing.” “And that, Evan… is your weakness.” I smirked despite the pressure and looked up at him. “So that’s what this is about? Me being a True Alpha?” His eyes darkened. I gave a sad smile. “Ever since that test eleven years ago, you’ve been cold. You even silenced everyone who knew. So this was it… you were afraid I’d take your place.” “Don’t speak nonsense!” Malfoy shouted. A tear slipped from my eye. I used to be loved. A pampered prince. Then everything changed the day I was proven to be a True Alpha. I expected pride. Instead… I got rejection. I tried to grow stronger for them. They gave me nothing but coldness. So I became what they feared. I looked at him. “You know what? My mom deserved better.” I stood up—meeting his eyes—and saw the flicker of shock when he realized his pressure no longer worked on me. My eyes burned gold and red. Cole and Ash were taking over. “We don’t need you,” I said coldly. “Stay the hell away from us.” Then I turned and walked away. Omnipotent POV He had grown powerful. Malfoy stumbled back, his beta appearing to steady him. I once thought being hated would make things easier… but seeing the hatred in Evan’s eyes still hurt. “Why don’t you tell him the truth? you were doing this for him” Hindwid, my beta, asked. Malfoy smiled bitterly. “He wouldn’t believe me. Not now.” “I told you not to do this,” Cassius said as he walked in, fanning himself lazily. “Evan loves his mother more than anything. You knew that—yet you still hurt her. Now he hates you. And we all know Evan… you just woke a sleeping lion.” Malfoy sigh. “He hates me before." “Its worst Malfoy." Cassius replied. “I did it for the future,” Malfoy replied. “Whether you saved it or doomed it is still unclear,” Cassius said. “He’s powerful now. You saw it.” “And his wolf isn’t just two—it’s four.” Malfoy’s head snapped up. “Four?” Cassius smiled. “Your son isn’t just a rare born True Alpha… he’s one of its kind throughout history .”
