A battle of strength...

Queen Mira- Walking to the door of her room, I see Iroquois nod towards two warriors. I bet he personally picked to protect her. There are also three on patrol hidden outside her window as well. I’ll have to remind him to have them cover their scent better. “Come in, you two! We have some babies who have been asking about their uncle.” Briar’s cheerful voice greets us from outside as we walk in. She is radiant. This glow about her seems otherworldly. She looks like she has rested nicely. Next to her bed are two baby beds. “Well, who do we have here.” Iroquois speaks in a low, soothing tone. I see they are resting, and I don’t want to wake them. They have the most perfect chubby faces. They have an adorable light complexion. Iroquois leans over to peak at their ears. “My mom told me the ears will tell you the complexion they will become.” Both have the same brown ears as their mother. I smile up to Luna Briar, and she nods with happiness. “Have a seat so you can hold them.” Luna Briar tells Iroquois. I watch with a peaked interest as he goes over to wash his hands. I stay quiet and motionless, giving him this moment. “Queen, please have a seat!” Luna Briar welcomes me. I nod and sit by the window to watch the babies, and I get close. The door opens, and Alpha Ronan walks in. A huge smile on his face. Like he has walked the entire pack handing out cigars. “You sit, Iroquois; I’ll place them in your arms.” He says as he washes his hands and walks towards the babies. “I can do it, Ronan,” Briar whispers. He gives her a stern look. She smiles and lays back on the pillows. Iroquois sits with pillows under both arms. Eager to hold these little beings. “Let us introduce you to our son, River Gideon Black, and his sister, Reign Meadow Black.” He places one in each of his arms. Iroquois slowly exhaled, looking down at them. They are so tiny and perfect. The boy is a little bigger than his sister. I can already feel such power radiate off of them both from across the room. “They have the middle names of your parents.” Iroquois states as I look up at Luna Briar, who has a water-eyed smile on her face. “What beautiful names for beautiful babies. I know they are smiling down on them as we speak.” I speak in a soothing voice. “Oh, I brought flowers for Mother Briar and small gifts for the twins.” Iroquois speaks as I stand and hand over the two gift boxes for the twins to Alpha Ronan. He sits on the bed with Briar, and they both open a box. “Iroquois it’s perfect!” Briar exclaims as tears roll down her cheeks. They both hold up baby blankets. One monogrammed for the boy with Gideon on it. The other is for the girl with Meadow on it. “Seems like I made the right choice between that and stuffed animals.” He jokes. I hand Briar a tissue. I see Iroquois about to hand the babies back. “Wait. Let me get a picture. So you will always remember this moment.” I pull out my phone and take a picture with just him and the twins. Then, one with the twins, Iroquois the Luna and Alpha. “I’ll send you all these pictures. The babies really like you.” “I have a way with kids.” I stare at them. They have not moved since resting in his arms. I smile hearing them all converse like one big family. I can only focus on how amazing it is to bring new life into the world. To hold the future in your arms. We gave them time to get packed up and settled back at the pack house. We continue on towards the fields. Where training is happening. “I am thankful I got to experience part of your private life with the Luna and Alpha. You all seem really close.” We exit the hospital. My men are in tow as we head towards the woods. “I am lucky to be a part of their family. It is my job to keep them safe.” “Speaking of, you may want the men in the woods to cover their scent more.” Iroquois frowns and stops. “You can sense them?” “Yes, but I’m a queen. Two in those trees and one on the ground over there. It is barely detectable until the wind blows.” I add. I sense him mind-link the men, and we continue on. Through the woods, the air becomes cooler from all the shade. Then I hear motion and grunting. The woods all but disappear as a large dirt field comes into view. There are several pairs of men and women fighting. Training to remain the best. There are all species out here as well. “All the different species train together? This is fascinating.” I speak out loud. “Yes, what better way to learn your possible opponents than to battle them and learn from the best.” Iroquois replies. We make our way more onto the field. “What are we going to tell everyone exactly? About us being together?” I ask, not sure what to tell my people. If this gets out, it will make it harder for me to rule alone. The clergy is fighting to find a way to let a man rule. I am the only blood relative left besides my younger sister. “Well, while you reside here, your secret is safe. We can bound them all to secrecy. I mean, our pack kept the Omni-Wolf a secret for a while.” He is correct. No one knew they had found her. We heard the Alpha found his mate. But we were told she was a human learning her background. “…and when we leave this pack, I can be your trusted partner for the alliance to the Black River Pack.” Iroquois states as if he has already thought this out. “I think that could work. So will you fight? I mean on the field today.” I ask, trying not to envision him shirtless with his body all dirty and sweaty. “Why, are you imagining me in dirty positions?” He teases. My eyes go wide. “Of course not. I'm just saying that if I’m here, I wouldn’t mind a real show.” I pause remembering I said that out loud. I feel several eyes on me. ‘Don’t worry, sweetheart, you aren’t the first to enjoy watching me. Imagine if I actually get my hands on you.’ Iroquois mind-links me. “I will sit here, I guess.” I ignore his comment, but my body doesn’t. I exhale, crossing my legs. I feel friction from my jeans. I hope it elevates the arousal down there for me. He smirks as he walks around, giving pointers. The groups all respect him. I think it’s more so the fact that he has been vocal since his hospital stay. I spoke with some people, and they said he refused all communication except with Alpha Ronan. Nothing more than grunts would he utter to anyone else. Then Luna Briar broke his hard shell, and the babies all made it happen for them. So everyone seems genuinely happy to see another side of him. Especially the women here. There are a lot of women in this class. Not that I’m paying attention. I mean, he is gorgeous to look at. Even a blind man could see that. His hair is pulled into a low ponytail. His cut-off sleeveless shirt sticks to him with sweat. His large arms are the size of my thighs. All sweaty muscles flex with each movement. He is a true giant among gods. He has to be seven feet tall, and I wouldn’t mind climbing that mountain. I mean, yes, the goddess of the moon called it wrong with this match, but I wouldn’t mind a sample of what he is offering. In the middle of the instructions to a werebear and a werewolf, Iroquois pauses and looks at me. Shit! Did he hear what I just said? I quickly pull out my phone and scroll. It’s too late. I feel him walk over towards me. His energy is off the charts. Suddenly, a large cloud is over me. I look up, and it’s him standing in front of me. ‘Control your thoughts, or I’ll have to control them for you. My way is much darker than you may be used to. Even for a vampire.’ He mind-links me leaning over so that we are face to face. He thinks he can really intimidate me. I lick my lips, watching as his eyes focus on my tongue. His Adam’s apple moves up and down slowly. “Is there something I can help you with, sir? Do you need another hand out there?” I decide to ignore his comment completely. He squints his eyes at me. “Sure. Come.” He commands the queen of the underworld, and I can’t say it doesn’t turn me on. I’m the woman in charge. I’m the most powerful. I am also easily disregarded because I’m a woman. Yet his power turns me on. I walk towards the field. Standing as he walks with the were-bear to the circle. Explaining the weakness of the bear. Their size. Usually not as agile. “Volunteers?” He asks, and no one raises their hands. Except for me. He seems taken aback. ‘He won’t go easy on you, Your Highness. Are you sure you want this?’ I don’t know if he means the were-bear or him. At this moment, I want both. Wait…I mean fight the were-bear and take this mate of mine for a private ride. I removed my corset. Someone hands me a tank top. I place it on and begin to circle him. The were-bear growls at me. A look of excitement on his face. “It’s been a while since I took down a powerful vampire. I’m Felix, so you will remember my name while you heal.” He chuckles. I smile back. “I won’t tell you my name, so you will just always wonder who kicked your ass.” He charges towards me as I jump, gripping his neck. I swung around him, still using his neck as a pole. I grip his back, but he doesn’t move. He laughs. I use pressure points, and he collapses with ease. Falling to his knees, I slam my forearm into his chest repeatedly. Until I hear the crack of a rib. He roars in pain as I’m flipped over. Looking up from the ground, I roll in time to miss his large fist slamming down on me. I jump up to my feet and do a reverse roundhouse. Landing it right on the side of his head. He is completely unconscious before he hits the ground.
