Chapter 4 Helping Hands

We are now in front of his door. We prepared ourselves to meet with Commander Erik. I take a heavy breath before exhaling it, and then I knock on his office's door before entering his office.

“Come In.” He tells us.

We enter his office and there we saw an older person working on his desk. On his desk there is a sign that shows his rank and name, 'Commander Tony Erik'. He stands up from his chair, and we gave him a salute in which he salutes back. He then tells us to At Ease.

“I receive a request from Professor Gazzer.”

“What did he tell you, sir?” Invo asks him.

“He told me that he needs help to demonstrate magic to his students.” Commander Erik replies.

“I agreed with his request because I want those students to know that the BMP is the strongest amongst the BMF.”

So, he only agrees because he wants to show off how powerful BMP is. That figures.

“Also there is another thing I want to tell you two.”

“What is it, sir?” I ask him.

“I will start with Invo. Here.” He hands out a letter to Invo. It appears to be a deployment letter.

“Invo, congratulations you have been picked as one of the 30 people to enter the land of the monster.”

A group of 30 highly trained soldiers is being formed to enter the land of the monster. It seems that the kingdom is serious about retaking the lost land. Hopefully, Invo will stay alive.

“Really?!” Invo replied with a shock of excitement.

“Yes, and you will be deployed there in 2 weeks.”

“Does my dad know about this?”

“Yes, because another letter has been sent to your father.” Commander Erik told him.

“What about me Commander?” I ask him nervously.

He shifted his gaze from Invo to me.

“As for you Adonis, I receive a request for you to change department.”

“Change department?”

“Yes, at first I was reluctant to agree on it, but they showed me why they needed you.”

“But what department will I go to?”

“I can't talk about that.”

“The answer to your question will be given by that person who will greet you but I don't know where and when.”

“So you better keep your eyes peeled for any sign of that person.” He advised me.

Whoever this person is they sure like to keep secrets.

“Understood.” I told him.

“Good and that is all, you may exit the room.” He told us.

He stands up from his chair, and we salute him, which he salutes back at us. We take our leave from his office, and we began to move towards our desk. My phone vibrates in my pocket and I take it out. It was a message from Slyvia, and she tells me that the boots are already finished and she inviting us to the test room to see a demo.

“Hey, Invo, Sylvia tells me that the boots are finished and she invited us to see the demo.” I told him.

“Sure, why not.”

We began to move in the opposite direction and headed towards the test room.

We knock on the test room's door and waited for her response.

“Come in.” She said.

I turn the doorknob to open the door. We step inside the test room and saw her wearing the boots.

It kinda looks good on her.

“How does it look?” She asks us.

“It looks good on you.” I praise her.

“Eh... Erm... Thanks, Adonis.” I can see from her expression that she is blushing. Maybe she is embarrassed by my compliment?

“Okay, so how does the boot work?” Invo cuts in. Sylvia's gaze shifted from me to Invo.

“Ok, but I advise you to keep your mouth open for the surprise.” She teased.

What does that supposed to mean?

Sylvia began to concentrate on flowing her mana through her body and onto the boots. The boots began to glow. Sylvia slightly kneels, and then she jumped onto the ceiling. The boots stick on to the ceiling, and she began walking on it. She stops halfway and looks at us with a smirk on her face.

Both me and Invo are surprised at what we just saw and our mouths are wide open when she starts to walk on the ceiling. She's not lying when she said to keep our mouths open.

“But, can it ran along the wall?” Invo asks her, but the way he asks kinda looks like he was challenging her.

Slyvia takes that as a sign of a challenge, and she jumps onto the wall and starts to run along the wall with great speed. She stops halfway and jumps over us and landed behind us. She immediately takes out a pen and throws it to Invo, and it hit his forehead, the pen then bounces back and hits me.

“Owww...” We cried in pain.

“Whoops, Sorry Adonis, I didn't mean to hit you, I was going to hit Invo with the pen. Sorry.” She rushed to my side to see if I'm okay and keep apologizing, but I give her a thumbs-up as a sign that I'm okay. On the other hand, Invo who was beside us starts to flare up.

“Why do you want to hit me with your pen?” He yelled at her.

“I was annoyed when you challenge me if it can run along the wall.” She responds.

“Challenge you? I didn't even do that?”

“Yes, you did.”

“No, I didn't.”

They keep yelling at each other throats.

“Technically, Sylvia, he didn't challenge you.” I cut in to make sure the situation not getting any worst.

“See, even Adonis agreed with me.” Invo told her with anger in his eyes.

“But, the way he says it kinda he was challenging you.”

“Huh? The way I said it?” Invo asks me with slight confusion. Sylvia shifted her eyes to me.

“Yeah, and Sylvia read it wrong, so it was just a big misunderstanding from both parties.” I told them from my perspective.

They both seem flustered when I explain to them. Well, it's their fault that causes this, I can only hope that they will apologize to each other.

“I'm sorry I should've been careful with what I said.” Surprisingly, Invo was the first to apologize.

Did he mature a bit in this short amount of time?

I look at his face and notice that he is trying to hide his embarrassment.

“Well, I'm sorry too. I got it wrong, so I'm the one who supposes to apologize.” She turns away while saying those words. I can see that her face turns red.

The situation has calm down. I look at the boots that she is wearing, and I wonder if I can test them.

“Hey, Sylvia mind if I give the boots a try?” I ask her.

She turns her head towards me. She taps a button on her bracelet. The boots disintegrated.

She walks to me and taps her bracelet.

“Here, I'm sending you the boots via wireless.”

I tap on my bracer to receive the boots. A bright light came from her bracelet and fly into my bracer. A notification shows that the transfer success.

“Thanks.” I thank her with a smile on my face.

“No problems.” She blushes.

I tap on my bracer and the boots start to manifest on my foot. Wow, it fits, and it is quite cozy.

I began to walk in a straight line. After that, I concentrate my mana on my boots. The boots began to shine bright. I jump to the sky and landed on the ceiling, with that I start running and jumping multiple times before landing on the ground.

“Thanks, for letting me test it. It's super flexible, and I can move freely.” I praise her.

“Thanks, and you can keep it.” She told me.

“Wait, really?” I ask her with excitement.

“Yeah, you help me pointed the burn on the circuit board, so this is the payment for that.” She told me with a smile.

“Plus, I want someone to test it on the field and I think you're someone that I can rely on doing it. Please tell me everything when you use the boots. I want all the information that you experience when using it so that I can improve the next set of boots.” She explains her reason.

“Alright, I will help you with that.” I told her.

I tap on my bracer to store the boots.

“Alright, Adonis let's head outside. There is a Type 2 monster in this area, and we should go before it starts to rampage.” Invo told me.

Invo shows me his phone and a monster had been located near the west of the city. I nod at him in agreement. We turn our backs and head outside the test room.

“Good hunting and don't forget my coffee, Adonis!” Sylvia shouts at me at the back while waving her hands in the air.

”Okay.” I reply to her.

We head to the parking lot and enter the car. Invo turns the siren on and races to the scene.

We are now on the road racing to the scene as fast as the car can go.

“Black 2 to Dispatch, Come in?” Adonis is on the radio.

Adonis is Black 2 and I, Invo Carlsen is Black 1 who is on the wheel.

“This is Dispatch, Over.” Dispatch reply to Adonis's call.

“Dispatch, What is the sitrep on the monster, Over?”

“Black 2, Type 2 is heading to Giant Mall. Estimate arrival 5 minutes. Black 4 and 5 are chasing them. Over.”

Giant Mall is a popular mall and has a lot of people in it. If the monster gets inside the mall many lives will be in danger. This is no time waste. I need to get there fast. I step on the gas to speed up the car.

“Dispatch to Black 1, you will be leading the mission, I'll patch you up with the rest of the soldier, Over.”

“Roger that, Dispatch.”

Dispatch from the command center began patching our call to the soldiers that are chasing the monster. The soldier involves in this mission is.

Black 3 - Joseph.

Black 4 - Mike.

Black 5 - Rose.

Black 6 - David.

I steer the steering wheel to the left to avoid collision with another car. Adonis who is right beside me, taps on his bracer and two guns, and body armor manifested.

“Black 1, You're patch in, Over.”

“Roger, Dispatch.” I reply.

“Black 1 to Black 4, How many Type 2 that are en route to the mall? Over.”

“Black 4 to Black 1, There are hundreds of them. Over.” He replies with a bit of static on his end.

“Keep chasing them Black 4, Over.”

I need to set up a plan fast, but I can't without any information about the surrounding area.

“Adonis, I need eyes on the air, can you do that for me?” I ask Adonis with a stern voice.

“Give me a minute”

“You have 30 seconds.”

Adonis taps on his bracer and a screen pad manifest on his hands. He taps on the screen and connects to all security cameras in the area as well as the drones that are chasing them.

“There is an empty building up ahead of the monster, we can divert them to go inside the building and away from civilians.” Adonis tells me while watching the pads.

It is a good option and no innocent lives are caught in the crossfire.

“What's the soldiers' elemental magic affinity?” I ask Adonis.

“Black 3 is Water and Dark, Black 4 is Water and Light, Black 5 is Earth and Wind. The last one is Black 6 with Lightning and Wind.” Adonis tells me.

Great, I can order Black 3 and Black 6 to get in front of the pack, and use Black 3, water magic to create a wall to divert their way. Black 6 will use his lightning magic as a countermeasure by supplying the water wall with it. Thus, becoming Water Lightning Wall, or I can tell them to create a sphere with water and lightning combination to trap them. I think trapping them is a better option.

“Wait, I can see multiple heat signatures inside the empty building. We can't let them go inside the building!” He continued.

“You said they were empty.” I scold him because I almost sent hundreds of Type 2 monsters heading to that building.

“They were, but the heat signature just gets inside the building!” He yells at me.

Damn it, Now my only option is to use the sphere.

“Adonis, mark the location that is best for a sphere trap.” I order him.

“Understood.” He taps on the pad and marks the area for the traps.

“Black 3 and 6, I need you to get ahead of the pack and wait for them on this mark location. After that, create a sphere of water and lightning combination.” I ordered them.

“Understood, Black 1.” Black 6 replies.

Adonis who is beside me keeps looking at the screen pad. He tells where the monsters are and where the order teams are. Black 3 and 6 are rushing to the mark location. Black 4 and 5 are right behind the monster. He also tells me that the pack has destroyed 10 cars, 3 busses and injured 50 people.

“Black 3 to Black 1, we've arrived at the mark location.” Black 3 radioed me.

“Good, wait for the pack to get close.” I commanded them.

“Black 4, how is your end?”

“The monsters are on their way to the mark location. Black 1.”

“Good and Black 4, if the monster tries to flee from behind, combine your water magic with Black 3.”

“Black 5, use your wind to push them to get inside the sphere.” I ordered them for countermeasures.

“Understood, Black 1.” Black 4 answered.

“All Black Call sign, Type 2 will arrive at the mark location in 30 seconds, get ready.” Adonis order them on the radio.

It's good to have Adonis here with his observations skill. It helps me a lot with the planning.

We are now near the once empty building and moving to the mark location. Adonis keeps telling me the situation.

“Black 1, I can see them, commencing the trap.” Black 3 told me over the radio.

Adonis tells me the situation at the mark location. He tells me that Black 3 is creating a giant sphere and Black 6 is charging his lightning.

The sphere began to take shape and the monster enter the sphere. The monster notice that they have been trap tries to flee from behind, but Black 5 who is behind them use his wind magic to push them to get inside, and Black 4 use his water magic is combining with the sphere.

The sphere is completed and Black 6 charges the sphere with lightning. The monster that is inside trying to escape by going through the water is electrocuted instantly.

We arrived at the mark location just in time.

“Good work, guys.” I compliment them.

“Well, it's not a party without you, Sargent?” Mike tease me.

“Will both of you do the honor?” He continued.

Well, if you said it like that then I would not mind.

“Hey, Adonis shoot lightning, okay?” I told him.

“Is that an order or a request?” He teases me.

“It can be anything.” I told him.

Of course, it's an order. How are you that dumb?

“I will open a hole for you tell me when you're ready.” Joshua tells us.

I concentrate my mana to both of my hands and apply two different elemental affinities. My right hand is wind and my left hand is fire.

Adonis who is standing beside me, spin the elemental wheel on his gun to switch to lightning. The color on his guns change to blue, and he pointed his gun at the sphere.

“Ready?” I ask him with enthusiasm.

“Whenever, you're.” He replies to me with a grin on his face.

“Alright, Joseph open the hole now!” I ordered Joseph.

Joseph, open a hole facing us. I cast a tornado spell and blaze spell into the hole at the same time as Adonis shoots his guns.

Bright blue lighting shoots into the hole. The blaze and tornado magic began to combine and intensify. It combines and becomes Blaze Tornado. The blue lightning then combines with the magic that I cast and becomes Blaze Storm.

Joseph closes the hole. My magic combines with Adonis lightning burns and electrocuted every single monster inside the sphere. The monsters try to escape by going through the water, but they only get electrocuted by the lightning surrounding the water. We can hear their screeches from the inside. They are slowly dying by the burn and electrocution and to make matter worse for them is Adonis as I saw him walking towards Joseph and the others.

“Joseph, Mike, spin the water clockwise and David intensifies the lightning.” Adonis order them.

The three of them look at me in unison. They might think that it is overkill but knowing Adonis, who bears such hatred towards monsters for him this is just the tip of the iceberg. I gave them a nod as a sign to go ahead with the order, Adonis gave.

Joseph and Mike began to spin the water clockwise.

“Make it faster!” Adonis orders them with a stern look.

They began to make it faster and faster. David charges his lightning and cast to the sphere. Adonis points his guns at the sphere and shoots 6 lightning rounds at the sphere. The sphere is now moving with tremendous speed charged with lightning.

“Make the sphere smaller until there is nothing left of their bodies.” Adonis order them.

“Hey, if you do that then, there is nothing left to be recognized and there is no proof that we do this work.” Mike tells Adonis.

Adonis looks at him and then pointed at the sky. All of us look at the sky with the exemption of Adonis. A drones hover over us is looking at us.

“That drone record in real-time and will send it to the HQ as records. The drones can calculate how many we kill the monster accurately, so you can get a reward by asking them to count using that data.” Adonis explains.

We turn down our heads and look at the sphere. Joseph and Mike began to make the sphere smaller and smaller until there is nothing left.

There is a difference between moving on and moving forward. For me, moving on is like focusing on the future while still remember remembering once for while, and moving forward is using the pain and strife for the future. In other words, it is like ignoring the pain versus learning the pain.

Adonis who gave me the advice of moving forward in the lobby this morning meant that I need to learn from the pain and improve my weakness. It was good advice for me but Adonis... He is not 'moving forward', he is 'moving on'.

Everyone might think that he hates monsters, and it is true, but Adonis's hatred has become too common that he does not even have to feel hate when killing monsters.

He was not like this when we were kids but that incident 8 years ago changes him to hate monsters, and to add more fire they added tons of oils by using 'hate' to tell how awful the monster is and, how vicious they are and what they have done at the Alexandria Kingdom when it falls.

When I am king, I will never use 'hate' to unite the people instead I will use 'hope'. I think if I use hope I can unite the monster and people to become one and our kingdom will become stronger and to do that I need support from the Royal Family, BMF, and also Adonis.

Adonis might not remember but he and that girl that he takes care of at our shed 16 years ago is the key to that dreams. That girl and Adonis gave me hope that there is a way to unite.

Adonis looks at my face and walks towards me. He then pats his hand on my shoulder.

“Hey, why are blankly staring out at the open? We already finish here and let's hit the road there are still monsters rampaging throughout the city. I'll drive.” He told me with a determination on his face.

“No, I'll drive, you be my eyes on the situation.” I reply to him.

“Okay, but if you dozed off again, I'll take the steering will by force.” He declared.

“I won't trust me.” I reassure him.

“The last time, I trust you, I got drag to your mess.” He glared at me.

We took off and enter the car. Adonis then tells me to go to the eastern side of the city. I start the car and headed there.
