Chapter 7 An Interesting Encounter

I took a turn on the left and walks towards the entrance of the training field. A woman came out of the entrance and our eyes meet. She waves at me and I hesitate to wave back. I think I recognize her somewhere, but I do not remember. She put down her arms and I walk closer to her.

“Ermm... You look familiar did we met somewhere?” I ask her politely.

I can feel the awkwardness built inside my heart.

“Oh... I thought you already remember my name. Anyway, I'll reintroduce myself.”

“My name is Valeri Anko, 18 years old, and we met last night. Do you remember now?” She replies to me warmly.

Valeri Anko, 18 years old, and we met last night. I try to recall the events of last night about this girl...

Ahh. Now I remember, she is Princess Eltia's friend who does not know that Eltia is a princess and from what I gather in the BMA database, this woman is from a middle-class family, both her parents own a restaurant in the city. She is the 5th generation that enters this Academy and her brother works at BMD.

Eltia told me she is a very kind woman and loves to tease her. She also told me that she is very sharp sometimes and each time they met Eltia carefully chooses her words so that Valeri does not catch wind that she is the Princess of Baron Kingdom. Eltia also told me that there are always fun things that they do together.

“Ahh... Okay, now I remembered you.” I told her with a smile on my face.

“Hehe.” She giggles.

To be honest, she is kinda cute.

“Oh yeah, I forget to reintroduce myself.” I told her.

“Don't worry, I already know everything about you from Eltia.” She told me with a smile.

“Oh really?”

“Yeah.”

“You were once a war refugee, an orphan, and slaves. You became slaves to the Carlsen Household and when you were there you were treated harshly, but Invo became friends with you and manage to change his family, and little by little they open up to you and treated you as one of their own.

“You also suffered from mana illness, and it's called Low quantity which means you have lower mana than the average normal person. You, Invo, and the late prince are best friends in the academy. Even with a huge disadvantage, you manage to get top 10 until you graduated. There is an article about you being a genius-level intellect because you manage to build the first weapon that doesn't use a person's elemental affinity. That is your gun.

“You graduated from here alongside Invo and entered the BMF and the two of you are placed under the command of Commander Erik who is the commander of BMP. Not only that, you've killed a total of one thousand monsters. 10 Type 4, 150 Type 3, 400 Type 2, 140 Type 1 and still counting. I got to say that is an impressive result. Am I right?” She explains to me with a smile on her face.

I can already tell by just her explanation that she has done some homework on me. Eltia does not know about me in detail and for her to know about my background and where I came from it's very impressive and very scary. I am not going to lie, but this woman is very sharp for her age. She can be an agent of BMA if she wants to.

“Impressive, you've done your homework.” I praised her.

“Ahh... Erm... Sorry if I touch a bad spot...” She apologizes.

“It became... Quite a habit for me... To... Know about people around me...” She told me while averting my eyes.

I am not going to be surprised if she has a whole database about the students and academy employees' backgrounds. What their strengths and weaknesses, magic affinity, likes and dislikes, political views, and etcetera.

What an incredible skill to have. Just thinking about it made me chills.

“You're not the only one who checks on people.” I reassured her.

She smiled at me but deep down I know she is thinking about what this person thinks of her. Just by looking at each other eyes, we can already tell that both of us are very dangerous individuals.

“By the way, is Invo and Eltia inside the training field?” I change the topic by asking her if Invo and Eltia are here.

“No, they haven't arrived yet.” she answered.

She changes her expression from serious to worried. The look on her face seems fake but by the looks of it, it does seems pretty convincing and something is making her worried.

“Didn't the three of you exit the office together? Did something happen?” I ask her.

“Something did happen... On the way towards the training field.”

“Invo wants to discuss something with Eltia, and it looks serious. I think that he will leave her, and I'm worried that Eltia will be heartbroken about it.” She mumbles.

I took a heavy sighed, and I can already tell what they are discussing.

“Don't worry about it, whatever happens, I'm sure Eltia will be alright.” I reassured her.

Two different footsteps can be heard behind me. I take a look and saw Invo and Eltia walking side by side. Judging by their looks it is a bittersweet goodbye. I look at them and open my mouth to ask a straightforward question.

“Did you kiss her?” I ask him.

Both of them pause for a moment because of my question, they both look at each other and then me. Just by the surprise looks on their faces I can already tell that they did kiss each other.

“How did you... Is this one of his divine interventions again?” Invo ask me.

“Who knows... I was just guessing.” I told them.

Maybe it is divine intervention but who knows.

“Well, this time he is wrong, I didn't kiss her. She kissed me.” He told me.

So I was a little off.

“Wait a minute, my sweet darling.” Eltia cuts in with a stern voice.

“Didn't you tried to kiss me?”

“Ermm... Yeah... Hehe...” he answers her hesitantly.

She looks at him with anger in her eyes. Is this her coming of the month?

Judging by this conversation I can tell they will probably fight again. I need to change to another topic.

“Oh yeah guys, should we ask Adonis what he and Professor Gazzer discuss?” Valeri who is beside me cuts in and manages to change the topic, but the topic of her choice is very different from what I expected.

Nevertheless, it manages to catch both of their attention. Invo opens his mouth.

“Yeah, she's right. What did you guys discuss?” he asks me.

I hesitated to answer that question.

“He didn't tell me anything, he was just there teasing me.” I told them half the truth

“Damn, why did he do that?”

“That I do not know.”

“Maybe he just gives you a subtle hint, like a paper or a photo. You have an exceptional ability to observe right?” Valeri cuts in.

This woman is scary, she and I might have the same observational skill. I hope that she does not found the hidden clues.

Invo looks at her surprisingly. I can already know what he is thinking. He is thinking that this woman also has the same abilities as me. He looks at me for confirmation. I reply with blinking my eyes.

Eltia who is beside Invo does not seem to catch on but after a while, she manages to notice it.

“Even if there is a clue it seems vague.” I reply to her.

I look at Invo to signal him to change the topic. He caught the message and open his mouth.

“Whatever it is, I know you can decipher it but right now where is Professor Gazzer.” He told us.

Thank you buddy, I owe you one.

“Yeah, where is he? Didn't the two of you exit the office together?” Eltia ask me.

Suddenly, a man's voice can be heard behind them as he came out from the corner.

“I'm here now.” Professor Gazzer told us.

Did he just arrive or did he stays on the corner listening to our conversation?

“Were you listening to us?” I ask him with a stern voice.

“Don't be too agitated, Adonis.”

“I'm a friendly professor here... Hehe.” he giggles.

“And yes, I did listen to your conversation.” he confesses to it.

He turn his gazed at Valeri and their eyes met.

“Ms. Anko, please don't make my guest feel anxious?” He instructed her.

“Ahhh... Yes... Sorry Professor and Adonis.” she apologizes.

“Nah, don't worry about it.” I reassured her.

“Professor, I can tell she is an exceptional student, I hope you grade her well.” I told him.

“Oh?” he raised his eyebrows.

Professor Gazzer seems to be satisfied that I found her. He might be thinking that I reach his expectations.

“Yes, I grade her well, she is one of the students that need help. I hope you can help her.” he tells me.

“Sure.” I reply with a smile.

With that, all 5 of us enter the training field.
