Chapter three:engagement party

Gabriel POV honestly after she walked out of me that day,I started imagining my married life with her,i don’t know why but I did,and when I broke the news to my friends they were nothing but shocked as me,if I hadn’t planned to meet summer that day I would have gone home and starts thinking about my future.But thanks be God I didn’t go home,summer’s love really relaxed me.

And now tonight is the engagement party so she is going to be here so is summer,I don’t care what people are going to say,besides they all know that I only loved one person and that is summer.

Becky POV

“Tsk Tsk Andy am not planning on looking good,his girl friends are also coming so what is the need to look pretty,it’s not like I really want to be engaged”I said as Andy kept choosing clothes for me to wear,the Browns family brought me lots of clothes to wear elegant and expensive not that I can’t afford them but i am not ready for this marriage let alone want to live with that grumpy face for one year.

“You know what Becky I think for the first time I have to say this,you’re so lucky,i mean two weeks time you will be Mrs Becky Brown do you know what that means for those cheap girls out there” Andy said still checking the clothes out.

Have I told you that Andy’s mouth is like a switch,she can turn it on and off anything she feels like

“Seriously Andy,can you hear yourself speaking” asked arching my brown

“ come on,if I tell you that am looking for who said that,you won’t believe me” she said looking around as if she is looking for someone,I couldn’t help but laugh at her silly attitude.

At the venue

We,i mean me and Andy.my parents already left for the party and Am very grateful for that,they won’t let me leave the house wearing what am wearing now,i ignore the dresses they brought and come up with something simple,clean,but old fashioned dress,in those days you could call them elegant but now tsk tsk tsk only God knows,though Andy was against as she says Gabriel’s girl’s might laugh at me but I assured her that ‘Becky’ knows her ways.After much assurance she then finally agreed to my God knows plans.

As we walked through the huge doors,as if I was a human magnet I beginning to get attentions and murmuring my mom quickly walked towards me

“What happened dear?why this dress? did something go wrong with the other dress”my mom asked in shame which almost make me regret my actions be they should have thought of me before they made their decision

“What?am I not gaining attention so don’t make it any worse than it is already” I said as I walked passed her,Andy gave her an apology look. I walked straight to Gabriel who was holding a girl but,I just took it as no one was there

“I guess you all have been waiting for me so lets get it done and dusted with” I said taking a glass of wine from the service boy.Every one was quiet waiting for the next action,when a another girl entered the show,every one looked at her with grace....ok let me say she is beautiful very beautiful.happy!?

She walks towards Gabriel and stood beside him smiling like his trophy wife,every other persons were smiling with satisfaction,except for the Browns family plus me.

“Gabriel it’s time” Mr Brown said coldly,God are they all cold in this family good news they have me,I will teach them in the right way.

Gabriel stood forward with his hands inside his pocket “this is what you want right fine” he brought out a ring with i big diamond on it he grabbed my hands and slipped the ring in my fingers.This wasn’t how I imagined my engagement to be,I’ve always dreamed of love say sweet things before going down on one knee asking ‘will you marry me’ all that didn’t even happen I don’t even have a clue of who I was marrying,in my dream engagement party I wore a pretty red dress,but now am wearing a shabby dress that even i was ashamed of myself,in my dream engagement my face was unique my real face not this me stand here like drenched clown,before I could look up a tear drop down then I realized that was not part of the plan,I can’t cry not here not now.

I looked up and saw every one watching me Andy quickly came to me

“Since he has put the ring in your finger we should go”she tried to pull me but I remain rooted to the ground

“No wait it’s my engagement party for God sakes,how can I go....”I looked around for my supposed husband but he is no where to be found his family are just looking at me like someone who lost a battle and the girl that Gabriel was holding was his sister she gave me a disgusting look and hissed before leaving,I looked at the other direction and found two handsome men they’re equal with Gabriel maybe they are his friends who knows “....so let the party begin...wow”I shouted those who were tiered as me were happy while others just shake their heads soon the music begins,I didn’t notice when my parents left in shame.

After few more steps and more glasses of wine,Andy too me home,as soon I entered the living room I was greeted with a slap “how dare you uh?how dare you disgrace your family in public Becky how...”my Dad shouted at me for the first time ever since i became twenty.

“We raised more than this,Becky,we did better than this,what is wrong with you! what Becky! What sham is all this” my mom said as she broke down in tears.really shouldn’t I be the one doing all this drama,like they are took my role in a movie.

“Oh please i should be the one asking you all these,why did you decided to shame like this,why I have my dreams mom,I have wishes that you just cut short dad”I shouted climbing the stairs

“It’s was the best decision we made for you dear”my dad said coax my mom

“Yeah why didn’t you asked for my opinion,you married you own love,why didn’t you let me do same,Why why!!”I shouted louder and Shot the door behind me,and slid down and starts to shake with tears washing down my heavy makeup.

For the rest of the week I refuse to speak to anyone not even Andy,my mom would knock at my door for minutes and if she doesn’t gets a reply then she leave,I stayed in my room refusing to eat anything,thank Goodness for the water in my bathroom I could make use of it.not long enough I received a call from Andy requesting us to go out for shopping which I agreed because I was planning to eat something outdoors soon as I reached down stairs I found my to be mother-in-law sitting with my mom.

“Hello dear how are you doing?”Mrs Brown ask

“Uh how do you expect me to do if not fine”I answered coldly

“She just asked a simple question okay,and besides she is here to see how you’re doing since we told her you refuse to eat or talk to us”Mrs Nicholas said

What ever did she think I would listen to her since I didn’t listen to my parents,old school.walked towards them and took a sit

“So what can I do for you ma’am”I asked not minding if I was rude

“Ahh I...i..really bought this this wedding dresses,so you know choose one...here”Mrs Brown said pushing the bags to me,honestly no doubt the dresses was amazing,on a different situation i would want to try them all,but now,noway.so I push the dresses back and said sincerely,I mean whole heartedly “ma am really sorry,I love all of it if you ask me,but still I can’t take it.I don’t want it,and besides it not my dream wedding so what is the need in wearing all these,I hope you understand.i don’t have any problem with and your family.I just don’t want this......Ah thanks for thinking about me.”I stood up and adjust my clothes.

“I Ah ...I understand how you feel right now,and am really sorry for the way things turned out to be for you and my son,I am.....if possible....can you....call me mom..please,ma’am is seems to old”Mrs Brown requested smiling silly

“I will see if I can try...I am actually going to buy a wedding dress...bye”I said dryly and left the house.
