Chapter Eighteen : The Request.

Becky’s POV

Ever since that day,I have done everything humanly possible just to avoid him.I barely see him leave the house.

I didn’t notice when he arrived,i saw him going up stairs sluggishly,he doesn’t return home until 9:00pm at night why did he have to come home at 2:15pm in the afternoon,did Anything happen at the office,i wanted to ask be thought of him taking summer’s name all the time stoped me from asking,what ever the problem is he can get it solved.

I was about to eat when i heard his voice from behind,I thought he was on phone call but when i looked back and saw him giving me this tired look,i just asked him to repeat what he said before.

“Am really hungry,can I join you or maybe prepare something for me...please”he requested calmly,if i say i wasn’t moved with his soft voice,then am lying.The food i prepared was more than enough for us to eat,but I won’t let him that easily,not when he insulted my cooking without testing it.

“Um am sorry,but I can’t,besides you wouldn’t want to eat from a bad cook right”i sneered,he just pouted like a kid I front of his mother begging for more.

“Can we not do this now,i am really hungry,and this is not the right time,we could do this some other time.....”he replied,i was so lost looking at him that I didn’t know when he took a spoon full of rice inside his mouth.

“Umm this is delicious...Umm”he said as he continued eating from my plate,I wanna had no choice so i decided so serve myself when he stopped me.

“You can join me”he said taking a sip from the apple juice that was supposed to be mine,anyway i wasn’t ready to ague this time so i joined him.

Each time i stole glances from him,i discovered that he has some small black dots on his face,his nose was thin and straight,they slightly red,his eyebrows were neatly shaped,his lips were pinkish,making him look charming and dashing,to crown it all he looks like a Greek god,he also looks thin,like he lost some weight maybe due to exercise....

“What is it”he asked interrupting my discovery.

“W-What did you say”i asked startled

“What is it,why are you looking at me like that?”he asked crooking his brows.ok he caught me.

“Ahh nothing really,it’s just that you look different...you know,looks like you’re emaciating”I replied shrugging.

I don’t know what and how he starts coughing,I quickly gave him some water.

Gabriel’s POV

I don’t know how I missed my chewing but i got choked with her response,she quickly gave me some water which I drank without hesitation,after calming down,I saw the worried look on her face,if only i get to know if they were sincere,sometimes she just fakes her looks.

“What happened,what?did you choke on my words”she asked smirking.

“It not something to be smirking about,besides I guess I swallowed quickly,so”I replied looking at her face,you can never tell what she was thinking.

“Umm,so why this loss of weight”she asked sitting back.

“Are you really concern,or you’re just asking?”I asked cause I wanted to know.

I actually choked because i was surprise when she noticed my condition,it’s not something you expect from such a wife like her,since on Monday I have barely seen her,i just wakes up on time to see if I could catch a glimpse of her before leaving the house,but i couldn’t get any and today,i returned from work earlier the usual so as to get more rest before going to my study,when I meant the goddess who seems not to notice my presence,and now she is noticing the fact that I’ve lost some weight,and summer even claims that this is the perfect body she wants me to have.seriously am i really comparing both of them right now?.

“If I should say that am just asking what then would be your response”she asked looking at me.

“Nothing,i Just wanted to know,anyways am really busy with office problems,and my assistant has resigned to join his father company,so I haven’t find someone capable for the position and it’s stressing me out”I replied,the project of the company was really stressing,We’re having two designs that has to be completed by the end of this month,and making plans for our company anniversary wears is killing me,kelvin the manager to the designing department is not around,so I have to take over that as well,attending meetings with those Hollywood’s stars is something else,I have to do a great presentation before them.so tell me why won’t i loss weight.

“Oh I see.Is it that there is no one applying for the position or you just don’t want to give it out”she asked chewing her steak quietly.

“Off course,they are lots of people wanting to have the space,but they are all first timers,and I don’t need or have the time to train someone before relying on them,things all need to be done urgently,and that only needs the potentials of some one who is very capable and not a green horn”i explained.

“Okay,then”she just replied and continued eating.At least she gave me her listening hears so,why am i still feeling hurt with her attitude,shouldn’t I be grateful that we talked for the first time with bringing summer in or end up arguing.Hmm What ever.

Becky’s POV

Well i would say that it’s a blessed day for me,getting to eat and discuss with the man who is my husband,really we didn’t even have any argument or even talked about summer,just the two of us no one else,I felt satisfied with the way he spoke softly and his calmness.If only thing were in a different circumstances,i have wished that we remain like this,not when i am the second woman in front of summer,it’s not my fault that his family chose me over her,but she should learn to let go of what is no longer hers,i mean now that i am Gabriel’s wife she should just wait still we’re divorced.No,Gabriel is still sticking with her.Argh God why am I feeling this way?whats wrong with me,damn it.I scream inside my head.

Now it just two days since Gabriel and I ate to gather ,and i don’t know,but i feel like I need to talk to him about our divorce papers,I just want to get away from this marriage ASAP.i can’t continue thinking in this new way of mine.I just need to talk to him when he comes back...,Ah speaking of the devil,i looked at the time it was just three minutes to eight and he is already back.

“Good day”I greeted,honestly this was the first time in four months of our marriage,not that I really wanted to great him,it was just to get his attention,he stopped and looked at me with shock written over his face.

“Are you feeling better,is did any thing happened at the house today?”he asked concerned. ‘Seriously what is wrong with him,it just to get your attention,Hello!’told him in my mind.

“No,am Okay,actually I wanted to get your attention”i replied as his face turned disappointed.

“Can we have this discussion tomorrow,am really busy”he replied and starts to climb the stairs.

“No it’s important,I think we should talk about it not”i pressured.

“Ok fine that will be after three hours,I’ve somethings to put in Order”he replied entry his room.At least we get to discuss after three hours.

Argh!why can’t the time run faster now,it’s only two hours since he entered his study and he is yet to come out after one more hour,what if he forgets about it?,no he won’t,or would he?.i just want to know where i stands in the relationship,i Can’t take it anymore with summer,he can go ahead and keep her but he has to stay away from her now that i am about to start leaving the house,i can’t go outside as Mrs Gabriel and that b***h shows up as his girl friend.And I can’t be on the losing side while he he keeps Winning,he keeps a girl,and I don’t,he brings her home and I don’t even have any male visitors except for his friends,he spends the buy things for her and i am just playing the role of a dumb and blind wife in front of all this.Now he has to play Same way with me,no cheating.I don’t know how I got to his front door but am standing and not willing to go back.

I knocked but there was no response,I repeated but there was no answer coming from him so i pushed the door opened and found him sitting behind his desk in deep focus on the file before him.I stood patiently for God knows how long but he just ignored me.I tried making signs that would get his attention,but he was dead serious with what so ever he was doing,so I took my time to look around,at least since i am here he wouldn’t forget about his agreement.

The room was big and is loaded with books of different kinds and sizes,half of the floor was covered with books and the couch was no doubt filled with books too,he seems to be reading everything in the room,I expect to see the room clean and well taken care of,but it was just the opposite of what I imagined,though the ground and the furnitures looked clean and shiny the scattered books made it look like mess trash can.

Since there was no space for me to sit except i creat one for myself,I decided to put the books back to their right places,it was a little stressing,he didn’t even raised his head up to see what i was doing for him,he just got his eyes glued to the heap of files in front of him.Once i was done i check the time it was already quarter past twelve midnight,and he said after three hours,I sat my ass down and rested my aching back bone.

“Ahem,can I have my time now”i requested calmly.I didn’t expect him to look up at me dropping the file,he took a quick look at the room before returning his eyes to me with a weak smile.

“Thanks...and as for your time,Am sorry..I really thought i could finish within three hours,but your distraction was not helping”he said calmly.

“So helping you with all your mess it a distraction,and what an excuse Gabriel,you told me after three hours and now you’re saying that i distracted you,wow!”i exclaimed,really?.

“Ok fine we can do this arguing stuff maybe next week,but not now,not here Okay?”he ask massaging the back of his neck with his long fingers.

“Ha ha Gabby ha ha ha you...didn’t tell me that you’re a joker”I commented in between laughter,he just kept quiet watching me.

“Really Gabby?,So you now have to set days for us to argue,really ha ha ha”I said laughing harder.

Gabriel’s POV

Wow she had this melodious sound of laughter,her laughter was genuine,she was not pretending,she could be fun to hang out with,only if she would agree,what a pity for our marriage.

“Why so funny?”i asked as she kept on laughing nonstop.

“Everything Gabby,you said after three hours and now you’re blaming me for nothing keeping up with the time you set?”she asked calmly.

“Ok fine,next week we will have that discussion,besides am very busy unlike you who doesn’t have anything to do”I said looking at her as her expression changed.

“Mr Gabriel,do you even know me?”she asked coldly,now we’re back to Gabriel,Umm what was I expecting.Her voice was filled with disappointment and frustration,she has very right to be disappointed.

“Am sorry...can you please help me out with these few tasks?”I requested trying to make the room more comfortable,she just kept looking at me for folding her arms on her chest,she wore a bright sleek red pajamas with her hair tied in a high ponytail making her sexy and smart,don’t blame me she is such a tempting woman.

“ I’ve never done any paper work in my life,and you said that you don’t want any green horn”she said stressing the word ‘green horn’

“It’s okay,I can tell you what do”I replied standing up from my sit with a smile on my face,i handed her some files and told her what to do,she also has to plan my meeting and keep records of my appointments.She just did exactly what she was told to do,with her help i was less occupied,i notice that she eat snacks while doing her work,i never knew she eats this much,and that too at late night.

When it was threes o’clock in the morning,we went to our separate room.

“Becky I want you to Come over with me to the office tomorrow,what say”i asked before she entered her room.

“What say?,i never knew you were this funny”she respond sarcastically.

“Am serious”I said in fact

“Do you really want me to follow you?”she asked resting her head on the door frame.

“If i want you to,Then why am i requesting you?”i asked sleepy

“What ever,good night”she replied and went inside.

“Am serious don’t keep me waiting,and good night too”i said loudly before she closed the door.
