Chapter eight:the poison

Becky POV

Last night Gabriel didn’t returned home,this is not the first time,second nor the third,he has been sleeping out almost every day,not that we share the same room.some times I just wonder what’s the point of this marriage,he is not trying to get close at least know each other,not that am interested either,but at least you get to know the kind the kind of person you’re leaving with.

I was reading my script when I heard voices laughing foolishly,why does he have to laugh so loud,I tried to concentrate but they were already in,10:am imagine your husband comes home the next day at 10:am,and that too with his shameless girl friend.lucky me right!.

“Good morning Becky”,I looked back and saw two other men Mathew and......

“Hi am James,Gabriel’s friend”

“Good morning.....would you like anything for breakfast fast,I asked facing only Mathew and James,I could see the surprise looks on their face as I payed no attention to the other two,

“No actually we can’t,i brought James so that he can see you”Mathew said dryly not knowing what my reaction would be,but guess what?i bet Gabriel already ruined my name in front of them so,I will just do nothing but shame him as always

“Hmm that is very thoughtful of you...see,justI only yesterday I meant you and now you’re already introducing me to you friend,okay let’s do it this way maybe next week when you’re free come over so I can introduce you to mine,and come very handsome cause she is a beauty”I said with a big smile on my face.i could hear Summer and Gabriel laughing out their throats,and with the look on these two it was that of doubt

“Trust me,I know you all are curious,but curiosity they say never kills”I said and was about to leave when James speaks out

“I would like to have breakfast,that’s if you still want to”

James POV

We’ll she doesn’t seems bad but something was behind that makeup it’s like she is hiding something,time will tell.

“Sure why not”Becky agreed and went to the kitchen.

“You better be careful with her,her words are like venom”Gabriel said as he went up stairs to take his bath.

Soon the food was ready,she prepared noodles and chicken,me and Mathew sat down to eat when summer insisted on joining us

“Please the aroma just made me starving”she plead looking at Becky who seems not to be having any problem with her “hmmm this is so good...I hope your friend knows how to cook too”i asked as i continued eating,Becky just stood there smiling happily watching us eat,just then Gabriel comes down,he was surprise to see summer eating with us

“Are you sure that food is healthy for you?”he asked with concern in his voice as he took the spoon from summer and asked her up

“Don’t be ridiculous! it’s just noodles....”

“Who knows what she used in preparing it,I bet the seasoning might be too much,you can have a running stomach for that”Gabriel said cutting her short

Becky POV

Uh!really! seasoned.lean excuse I can’t even buy that,now he is just showing his attitude in front of his friends,am kind of enjoying the show,who wouldn’t?you need to see the look on their face,Mathew has the one of disappointment and James the one of disbelief,who wouldn’t be?when your husband insulted your cooking in front of his girl friend!wow.

“Gabriel the food is good”James try to defend,but what did he get?a glare

“are you going to tell me how to care for my woman”Gabriel barked.i could see how Mathew’s mouth literally dropped to the ground

“Come on Gabriel baby am okay”summer said more coquettishly

Wow,this is how Gabriel fell for you summer,too good I can’t do all this.

“Ok just don’t eat anything she prepares am afraid she might hurt you,if you want anything then you can ask the maids to do that ok”Gabriel said holding her very close,I mean close.with the way James and Mathew just watch,they were lost of words to describe the show.

“Can we leave now?”Gabriel asked now looking at his friends

“Sure am tired”Mathew said and stood up

“Oh ma’am,sorry I don’t really remember your name,I want you to have this cake it’s from my birthday yesterday,so I decided to bring you this piece...here”summer said handing the cake to me it was rapped in a foil,I just kept looking at the cake not wanting to take it but all eyes were on me

“See how heartless you’re,she just ate your food”Gabriel said coldly

“Becky it’s okay we also tasted the cake yesterday it was good”James added

“Yeah it’s,it was baked by one of the best chefs in A city,Gabriel actually hired her”summer stress the word ‘Gabriel’ to my hearing,after much waiting I took it and didn’t hesitate to take a bite

“ Becky,B-E-C-K-Y,get that....and as for the cake,Good”I comment and had another big bite,not because it was tasty,but to show James and Mathew that I have I a big heart,I missed the smirk summer gave me before turning to leave.

“I will just pack the dishes”I said as they were heading to the parlor.

“Oh s**t i forgot my phone up stairs”Gabriel said in a realization tone

“Please can you guys wait for me here?”he said as he runs up to get the phone.

As for me ,I finished gathering the plates and all of a sudden I felt numb,I couldn’t feel my hands,my head was dropping sweat my makeup wasn’t helping,my neck suddenly hot,I tightened the grip on my neck with my shirt,but thing just became blurred,I couldn’t see clearly and then i blank out.

‘Dang’!

At the sound of that Mathew and James run back to the dining table and found Becky almost lifeless,since Mathew was doctor he quickly tied her neck to prevent the poison from spreading.

“What is wrong with her?”summer asked

“We don’t know yet”James said sharply,just then Gabriel showed up

“What happened?”he asked less concern

“She slumped”Mathew said carrying Becky from the ground

“We should take her to the hospital now”James added

“Who knows if she is just faking it”Gabriel said,and the two friends just looked at him with disappointment

“Gabriel how could you say that,look her lips has turned purple,and life is drained from her face,who fakes like this”James shouted

“Ok ok fine just lets it go before it gets worse”Mathew said trying calm the two men who seems to be ready for fight

‘I will deal with you later not now’ Mathew told himself.As they rushed Becky to the car her phone slipped off her baggy pants,and James quickly grab it and they drove off.

At the hospital.

Becky’s phone starts to ring,Mathew quickly picked the call

“Hello baby,what’s up?”Andy ask as soon as the call was answered

“Uhm,I an not Becky she is actually admitted at the hospital right now.....”

“What!,hospital?which hospital”Andy shouted in fear interrupting Mathew,Becky has only been admitted once before due to some heart problems,but ever since she recovered she never visited the hospital not even when she has a running stomach,she hates it when it comes to medicines.

“Just come to the central hospital now,and with some close relatives”Mathew said and ended the call.

Gabriel hold summer’s hands comforting her as she was now crying for God only knows the reason,Mathew and James were pacing around like they were Becky’s older brothers,while Becky was in the emergency room undergoing treatment.Not so long they saw three people heading towards them Mathew and James stood still waiting for them to say something,Gabriel stood up and greeted the couple

“Good day sir,ma’am”they were Becky’s parents and the third person was Andy she gave Gabriel a disdain and disgusting look before speaking

“Who picked the phone?”she asked coldly,if eyes could kill summer would be dead by now as Andy gave her a cold look

“I did”Mathew said calmly,handing the phone over to her,though Andy was mad Mathew was still carried away by her beauty

‘Is she the one Becky was talking about?’he asked within himself,James introduced himself and explained what that morning,all the while he was explaining Andy focused on the emergence light while Becky’s mom just starts crying praying for daughter to wake up,mr Nicholas just wore a serious look.

“I will go drop summer home since you all are here”Gabriel broke the silence,the only reply he got was a killer look from Andy

“So where were you when all this happened”Andy asked

“I don’t understand”Gabriel replied confused as her eyes where on summer

“I wasn’t talking to you...you gave her the cake right?”Andy asked as her eyes were only on summer who seems not to know how to answer her question,the whole place was now quiet waiting for her to answer,

“are you crazy?what are you trying to say?,that my girl friend has something to do with it”Gabriel defends he was also angry now

“I didn’t say that you did,and you if I find my doubts true,tsk tsk tsk Becky isn’t as crazy as me when it comes to issues like this,yes I can’t compete with her but you can compare,and I would go to any extent that so the truth is revealed”with these words the light turned off and every body look at the door as the doctors and nurses came out.

“Doc What happened to her”they all chorused

“What was the last thing she ate this morning?”the doctor asked ignoring their question

“Cake”James replied quickly

“Then that means she was probably poisoned with the cake,it contained ions powder,anyway we did what we could she is currently out of danger....”a loud sigh escaped their mouth interrupting the doctor

“.....I was going to say that her right hand is paralyzed and she is in coma,pray it doesn’t take long for her to wake”the doctor concluded

They were all shocked as to how it happened

“Why doc!”Mrs Nicholas asked in tears

“it’s because she was brought late,the poison already affected her right hand”he explained and starts walks away leaving them in daze.

“Doc is it permanent”Andy asked quickly as the doctor was going,he turned back with a weak smile

“No,luckily it’s temporal” the Doctor replied and left.

“Wow...so how will you want the news of tomorrow mornings heading should be?uh The CEO of Browns cloths watched his wife poisoned by his girl friend,and still did nothing.read(page 2)for more information.How is that?”Andy asked sarcastically.

“Hey miss it’s enough,all we need to do now is to be here for Becky”Mathew said calmly,and what did he get in return? a cold glare.

“Andy is the name.As for the enough,i was going to say that......”she turned back to Gabriel but her eyes were on summer’s

“Enough of those ant cries you’re giving,it not helping issues here,and better pray she wakes up on time,if not i will make you sleep forever,just get lost okay and don’t ever show this trashy face of yours again”she concluded,with these words summer ran out covering my mouth as tears continued to roll down,just then the nurses were done cleaning the makeup off Becky’s faces and rolled the bed out of the door making Gabriel to stop following summer,the nurses passed them,only Andy and Becky’s parents followed the nurses leaving the boys shocked,another nurse came out of the room and James stopped her

“Am sorry,but is that the patient we brought?”he asked

“Yes”the girl replied.Matthew and James looked at Gabriel who also had the same expression as them

“Don’t tell me you just saw your wife face for the first time”Mathew ask

“What are you saying? I have never seen her face before and besides you all saw her during the engagement and wedding party right?” Gabriel tried to defend himself.

“ don’t tell me that,the unexplainable hatred you have for her is the curse of or this”James blames

“God What an angelic face,she is beautiful man,more beautiful than any girl I have ever seen,she deserves to be treated right bro”James added

“What did she do in the first place that makes you treat her this way”Mathew ask concern,Gabriel had no answer to the question so he kept quiet looking at the room door Becky was shifted to.
