Layla's POV I chose to ignore it. "Won't you get that?" Lloyd asked. I kept my eyes on anything but him. What exactly made him think he had the right to involve himself in my business? It wasn't his problem. And it definitely wasn't his place. Before he could say anything else, I spotted Charlotte walking toward us with a smile on her face. Perfect timing. As always. Charlotte had a shift at the library, and I was supposed to walk with her there. It was our little routine. Something familiar. Something easy. "My girlie!" she called out. I couldn't help the small smile that appeared. Until she noticed Lloyd standing beside me. Her eyes moved between us, and then she gave me a knowing wink. Of course. Charlotte noticed everything. A second later, her smile faded slightly.
