Chapter 2

BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!

I smack my allarm off. Again I have that dream. I sighed, I live in the city. I have never seen the country or any dirt road.

Hi, my name is Aspen. Aspen Moonstar Barkley. Yeah, it's a weird name, but that's me. I keep having this dream and I don't know why. It's about vampires and werewolves. Come on. I know I have read the stories and they sound so amazing, but I also know vampires, werewolves, lycans, fairies, unicorns, mermaids, and dragons. They are all just make-believe. It broke my heart to find out I couldn't be a mermaid when I grew up. Now I am grown and know it's all make-believe.

After thinking about my dream, I finally got up and headed to the bathroom. I brush my teeth and shower, then get ready for work. I am 18, just out of high school. I am an intern at a big company with my best friend. We get paid in peanuts basically, but after a few years we can get hired full time.

"Hey beautiful lady, how are you?" I heard my best friend Lilly.

"Hey Lilly, I am tired. I don't know why I passed out at 9 pm." I said, laughing,

"Shhh quit. Someone might think your 60 or something. Your 18 and never party."

"So? I told you I don't like to party. I would rather stay home and read or watch TV. Mostly read then yell at the TV because the movies are wrong." I said, laughing.

"Okay, so what, please come to a party this weekend? It will be fun."

"Movies they say a party will be fun, then they almost die or they do die. You know that, right?" I said, joking.

"You know movies and TV shows are fake though." She said and I laughed.

"Yeah I know. I like to use it as an excuse though," I said. "Anyway, come on, we will be late." I said and went to clock in.

"Hey, you ready to go?" Lilly said, surprising me.

"What? Oh yeah let me finish this and we can head to lunch." I said, not paying attention.

"Lunch? Aspen its 7 o'clock. We have been here for 10 hours."

"Wait what?" I asked and looked at the clock. "Oh um okay let me sign out." I said, signing out of the computer and running to clock out.

"Okay sense I waited for two hours for you to get done you now have to go out with me this weekend." Lilly said.

"Fine. You have a deal. Just let me ask my mom." I said. I usually walk to work but Lilly gives me a ride home. The car ride is silent.

"Dont forget to ask your mom," Lilly said.

"I wont. Dont worry." I said. I got out and headed inside. My mom is sleeping when I get in. I put my food in the microwave to heat it up. I eat and put the leftovers away.
