Daphnes POV As Gabriel let go of my hand I looked to my parents desperately wishing this were not true. "You can't mean this" I said. "It's the only way to save our people" My father said finally meeting my eyes. I could see how much pain this arrangement was causing him but he could have at least warned me. "Would you like to take a walk with me Princess? Perhaps we can get to know each other" Gabriel said. I looked down at my lap and closed my eyes taking a couple of deep breaths. This marriage was to save my people so the quicker I excepted that fact the sooner I could save them. I plastered a smile on my face before looking back to my now fiance. "That would be splendid" I said getting up from my seat. "We'll leave them to sort out the details" He said offering me his arm. I slipped my hand in the crook as we started our way out of the dining room. Jefferson and a couple other guards followed us as we made our way into the court yard. "I know you probably weren't expecting any of this" Gabriel spoke. "I truly wasn't" I responded. "Look I know we don't love each other but this will help both of us" He said. "How will this help?" I asked him. "Well the goal of this is for us to produce a hybrid child. A vampire child with fairy blood so they can walk freely in the light" Gabriel explained. "If that's all then why the need for the marriage?" I asked. "My father is very old school" Gabriel said with a laugh. "So tell me about yourself" I said. Gabriel tilted his head in thought before looking down to me. "Well my favorite color is red, my favorite book is Pride and Prejudice, favorite movie is White Oleander, and I am five hundred years old" Gabriel rattled off. "Okay grandpa" I said with a laugh which he joined. "What about you?" He asked. "Well I'm eighteen, so talk about robbing the cradle" I said with a playful smirk. Gabriel barked out a laugh before I continued on. "My favorite color is blue, my favorite book is also Pride and Prejudice, favorite movie would have to be The Other Boleyn Girl, favorite food is definitely anything pasta" I said. We continued walking around talking about various topics. Once we received word that the treaty discussion were finished Gabriel walked me back to my room. "I had a lovely evening getting to know you" He said once we reached my door. "I did as well" I said with a smile. He reached a hand up to brush a stray hair back behind my ear and I shivered at his touch. Gabriel saw this and smirked as he took a step closer. "May I kiss you good night?" He asked me leaning down. My heart beat picked up as I blushed. I had never kissed a boy or well man before. I let my wing flutter causing me to levitate to his level and placed a light kiss on hip lips. Gabriel let one arm wrap around my waist as his other hand cupped my cheek. He was very gentle and after a few moments I pulled away from the kiss and landed on my feet. I opened my bedroom door and walked in turning around to face him. "Good night Gabriel" I said. "Good night Daphne" He replied before walking away. The next morning I quickly showered and got dressed. I made my way to the dining room and sat down in awkward silence with my parents. After a while I couldn't take it anymore. "Why didn't you warn me about the marriage?" I asked. "You're right princess, we should have" My father spoke. "I'm sorry that we didn't" He added. "You know I'd do anything for our people" I told him. He nodded his head before eating more of his breakfast. "So when is the wedding?" I asked taking a drink of my orange juice. "In one month" My mother replied. I spit my orange juice out in surprise and started coughing. One of the servants came up and started to wipe down the table while another offered me a glass of water. I quickly chugged some of it before setting the class down. "A month?!" I yelled. "Please Daphne lower your voice" My mother asked. "It's understandable that she's upset Isabella" My father said to my mother. "That's fine but she doesn't need to yell" My mother said back. I closed my eyes and took a couple of deep breaths. "Does that mean that I will have to leave here?" I asked. "Heavens now honey" my mother said putting her hand on top of mine. "They Vampire prince and his advisor will be moving here until the time when the child is born. Then once it is proven successful then the rest of the vampires will move here as well so they can create their own children." My father explained. "The wedding will take place here in front of the palace that way all of our kingdom can attend." My mother stated. After breakfast I went to my room and flopped down onto my bed. "Well you maybe stuck with a leech for the rest of your life but you seemed to like him last night" Jefferson said from my door way. "He was nice and definitely good looking" I said. "Yeah he was" He said. I picked my head up and quirked an eyebrow at his statement. "What I'm bisexual so of course I noticed" He said with a laugh. I giggled "Well he's mine" I said with a smirk before lowering my head back to my bed. He came over and sat on my bed as I continued to stare at the ceiling. Later in the afternoon there was a knock at my door as my mother opened the door. "May I come in?" She asked. I nodded my head and sat up noticing the large binder in her hands. "I guess that's my cue to leave" Jefferson said getting up from the bed. "What's that?" I asked my mother pointing to the binder. "Well this has different designs and such so we can start planning the wedding." She said. "Shouldn't we wait until night time so Gabriel can be apart of it?" I asked. "All the men need to do is just show up" Mother said with a laugh. She came and sat next to me on the bed opening the binder. "Now is there a color scheme you were thinking of?" She asked me. I thought back to the conversation last night with Gabriel. "Well let's do white and red" I said. My mother gave a quick nod before jotting down the colors. We continued planning everything from the flowers which would be white and red roses, to the music that would play. I skimmed through some dress designs as my mother listed off different foods to serve. "Do vampires even eat?" I interrupted her. "We don't have to but we can" Gabriel said. My head twisted quickly to my door frame where he stood. I looked to my windows to see that sure enough it was night time. "Hello Gabriel" I said as he made his way into my room. "I hope I'm not disturbing you, your guard said you had been in here all day planning for the wedding" He said. "Yes we have been would you like to see some of the ideas we have?" I asked him. "I would, thank you" He said. Gabriel took a seat next to me as I slide the binder from my mother to him. "You're including red?" He asked looking to me. "Yes it's your favorite color after all" I said with a shy smile. "That means a lot thank you" He said giving me a big smile. We continued going over what we had already decided on we settled on. "Have you thought of a dress yet?" Gabriel asked. "No I was looking at different styles when you arrived." I told him. He leaned over close to me so he could see what I had open on my phone. "I think you could look perfect in something form fitting" He whispered into my ear causing me to shiver. I blushed before saying "I'll uh take that into consideration."
