Lucifer's Apostles Episode 28

When Maria regained consciousness after her electric shocks, the lights were out. Her fingers were throbbing from where Melissa had hit her. Maria hated arrogant people who thought that they were better than you. We all come into the world the same way, and we all leave the same way, her father often told her.

The door flung open, and the light flicked on. Melissa came for her like a raging bull, “Ready for round two b***h”!! she shouted.

“I’m ready, c***k w***e”!!! Maria yelled, standing to defend herself and kicked Melissa in the knee. It only stopped her for a second. The stun gun found its mark on one of her breasts as Maria swung her left fist, hitting Melissa square in the jaw. Melissa released the stun gun from her breasts. She then pushed Maria, watching her fall to the ground.

Melissa hit Maria over the back of the head with the stun gun with all her strength. Blood started to run down Maria’s neck before Melissa kicked her hard in the breast twice. When she tried on the third occasion, Maria grabbed her ankle and pulled her down making Mellissa hit the floor hard. Maria was on top of her in seconds, wrapping the chain around Melissa’s neck and pulling as tightly as possible.

Maria jammed her knees into Melissa’s shoulder blades, pulling on the chain with both hands. The years of going to the gym and adrenalin combined. Melissa grasped for the chain around her neck with both hands. She was turning a blue colour as her larynx, trachea, and spinal cord were being crushed.

Maria pulled harder. She was like a madwoman. She could hear the bones in Maria’s vertebrae cracking. Melissa was lifeless, and Maria still pulled with everything she had. Krishna ran into the room, followed by Snake and Jacko. Close to two minutes had passed from when Maria first started strangling Melissa.

Snake and Krishna tried to pull at Maria’s arms, but it only made the pull on the chain tighter. Jacko grabbed a handful of hair and pulled her up off the top of Melissa. Maria dropped hold of the chains whilst flailing punches at Jacko. Snake unwrapped the chain and saw that Jacko had lifted Maria by her throat and was about to do the same damage to her as he did to Sally. “STOP’!!! He yelled at the top of his voice. Jacko stopped and instead threw her like a rag doll across the room. Snake heard her shoulder pop out of its socket as the chain stopped her suddenly.

Maria slumped to the floor, screaming in agony. She screamed at the top of her lungs, and Snake could not stop Jacko from walking over and kicking her squarely in the stomach with his size twelve barefoot. “Jacko, if you damage her face, you’ll be finished”!!! Snake yelled.

Snake had been pumping on Melissa’s chest when Jacko erupted. The damage to her throat was substantial. The bones in her vertebrae would be damaged if not broken. She was not breathing. He looked at her ashen face and knew she never would again. He kept the chest compression going, looking up at his big friend who was shadowing them both. Krishna was gone. Snake doubted that he would ever see the little man again.

“She’s gone” is all that he could say. As Jacko picked Melissa up and held her, he moved out of the way. A puddle of urine was on the floor where Melissa had lost all control nearing the end. Jacko was the only one who got on with the Ice Queen. She liked Jacko. She merely tolerated everybody else. He took Melissa’s lifeless body from the room, leaving Snake alone with Maria.

Krishna had flung open his bedroom door and yelled at Snake, “Get up. She’s killing her”!! He heard Krishna do the same in Jacko’s room. Having trouble getting to sleep, Snake had been contemplating asking Melissa to look the other way while he cuddled Sally. They all raced into the room to find Maria kneeling on Melissa’s limp body, choking any remaining life out of her.

He would have to look at the recording to discover what had happened. It was supposed to be lights out. All the hostages should have been trying to get some sleep. Now, he moved over to Maria writhing around on the floor. He picked her up under her armpits, and she howled another massive wail. Snake then tried to put her shoulder back into place. He had been trained to do this while working as a registrar in the emergency department at the hospital.

He clicked it back in. It was not in soundly. The ligaments would be stretched. He was determined that she had just climbed the ladder and would be tomorrow night’s sacrifice. He looked at the burns from where the stun gun had been held against her skin. Melissa had been torturing her. He had an idea why after Melissa had said she had been called a c***k w***e. He looked at Maria and whispered, “No wonder Christopher and Helena wanted you dead”. Snake walked out of the room and slammed the door shut. He needed to call Ruby. It would have to wait until he got answers.

Snake walked into the office, stopped the recording feed into Maria’s room, pressed rewind, and then play. The light suddenly went on in the room, and Snake witnessed what had transpired from that point on. When he was finished, he rang Ruby and told her everything that occurred. She told him to put Melissa into the preparation room to keep the body cool until she worked something out tomorrow.

Snake had not had a lot of sleep over the last week, and he doubted that was going to change much. After finishing the phone call, Snake stopped the recording in Sally’s room. He asked Jacko to put Melissa’s body into the cool room and then told him to go to bed. He waited until Tipsy arrived, who complained that she had already gone home sick. What was wrong with Melissa? When Snake told her, she broke down and became a blithering mess. Snake then told her to nap in one of the bedrooms. He would wake her when he was ready for her to take over the watch. Tommy should have been called in, not her. They all had to make what was best in dire circumstances. After she left him, Snake went into Sally’s room before lying down between her and the wall and cuddled her back. She tried to turn, but Snake said, “Not tonight, I just need to hold you”.

January 17

Louise woke with Ned still at the foot of her bed. She had fallen asleep while he was down there rubbing her feet. He was still fully clothed while she was as naked as the day she was born. Louise nudged him with her pedicured foot. He only stirred, so she nudged him harder. He woke up and stood within seconds, “I’m sorry, Louise, I must have fallen asleep”, he apologised.

“Ned, calm down, will you? I told you I was going to let you sleep in my bed, didn’t I?” she asked.

“You did yesterday. You didn’t last night. I wasn’t sure, and I fell asleep”. He was pouting, waiting for her wrath. Instead, she held out her arms and motioned for him to come to her. “I-I-I’m not sure w-what you mean”, he stammered.

“It means come here”, she whispered, “You have been such a good boy for me. You deserve a reward. Our relationship can’t be all about punishment. You have to be rewarded when you’re a good boy”.

“R-r-relationship, are you sure?” he asked, putting his head between her small breasts. Louise started patting his hair with one of her manicured hands.

“You’ve been such a good boy”, she whispered. He was uncomfortable and in an awkward position, but he would not have moved for a million dollars. “You’re going to help me with everything. I’m sure you will”.

“Anything, anything at all”, he sighed. He thought he was in heaven.

“I want you to make my breakfast and get yourself in the shower. We have some work to do today”. Ned nodded before springing out of bed and heading into the kitchen.

Louise showered, cleaned her teeth, and shaved her legs. When she was out of the shower, she wrapped a towel around herself and went to the small dining table. Her breakfast was waiting for her as she had asked. She sat down to start eating. Ned walked toward the bathroom when Louise said, “I think you are forgetting something, Pet”. Ned stopped and turned as she pointed to her cheek. What is going on this morning, Ned thought? He walked over and bent to kiss her cheek when she turned her head and gave him a peck on his lips. Ned felt that he was going to faint. “See what happens when we work together, Pet. Now, go and shower and change out of those clothes. We’re staying in today to work on the case from here”.
