Antonio didn't even hear about the accident until later on the next day. It wasn't unheard of for his parents to stay out all night partying sometimes, although they always had at least got him a babysitter. Being all alone the night before really started to worry him. When he awoke the next morning he figured that they had overdone it partying and instead of driving home way too intoxicated ,thy had found somewhere to crash and get some sleep until the full affects of the alcohol wore off.
The school was just beginning the start of the third period when he had been summoned to principles office. When he walked up to the principals office door he peeked through the blinds. There along with the principal was also the chaplain. All the kids at school knew that that wasn't ever good news.
He was ushered into the inner office and was told to take a seat.
"We have some terrible news son, ur parents were in a terrible accident. They are still searching for the vehicle." The chaplain explained.
Antonio just sat the in silence, staring at the globe on the principals desk. His stoic manner worried the adults.
"Son, did u hear me?" the chaplain asked.
"Yes" he whispered.
"We are going to let u finish out the day but child services will be here for u after school. " The principal said.
He just knodded his head and asked " can I go back to class?
The principal nodded back and antonio quickly got up and left.
He had heard the horror stories of what went on at some of the foster homes. Abuse of many forms befell the inhabitants. Some people were just interested in the extra money they would get, but weren't very good to the children they took in. He wasn't going to let that happen.
When the lunch bell rang he left campus and went straight to his house to grab some belongings and decided that he would ditch school for the rest of the day. He wasn't going to be put in the system. He would figure out a way to raise himself.
