Book 2 Intro
He could feel the persperation dripping off his face, as his breaths came in deep. The excerstion he was expending was starting to take it's toll. Deeper the gaspes for air came to his lips, and he willed his legs to mover faster. From shadow to shadow he went careful not to be recognized or seen if he could help it. As far as he could tell, no a person was paying him any mind.
He finally made it to his destination, the address that puppet had scribbled on it earlier. He hid behind the tree directly across from the bedroom window of his intended target. He peered around the tree and watched the house as non chalauntly as he could. It wasn't long before he seen what he had been waiting for. All the lights, one by one began to shut off in the house. As soon as it was totally dark, he made his way swiftly to kneel below the bedroom window.
Once again he stopped and took in huge gulps of the cold night air. It did little to help cool the chest which now felt as if it were burning with fire from the inside . His lungs weren't used to the run here. Not to mention that he was so nervous that he had.to stop his body from shaking on the way.
One breath became two, then a third. In threw his nose and out his mouth he reminded himself mentally, a trick one could play on their brain making it think that it was receiving more oxygen than it really was. Soon he had his breathing under control.
"Just shoot him through the glass," his o.g. puppet had said to him in a cold whisper. " And don't leave any witnesses." His protoge had added.
Over and over those words played in his head. It had became his mantra , willing himself to fall victim to belief. Again and again he repeated it, drawing from the strong words, it made him feel a bravery he had never seen before.
"On the count of.three ,"he told himself.
One ,his eyes closed in prayer ,two he tightly gripped the cold handle of the metallic pistol. Three, he rose just enough so that he could see over the windowsill. What he saw made him gulp with fear and guilt. The man was not alone.
He and his female companion both lay naked and intimately intertwined In clearly the remenants of passions pleasure. Boy deep in sleeps respit of retrieve.
Again he heard the words, " don't leave any witnesses". He knew what he had to do. Again with his customery three count ,he summoned up the courage to stand up and take aim. Pop pop pop over and over he pulled the trigger. He emptied the entire clip of bullets into the two people on the bed. He couldn't help that his fingers had taken it upon themselves to squeeze out a few years empty clicks. When he became consentiously aware that the gun was empty, he returned it into the backpack he had just pulled it out of, and took off in a full blown sprint home.
When he reached the trap he rushed up the stairs and almost hit his mentor in the shoulder with the front door as he rushed in. As he looked around at the people in the house, he tried to mask the look of urgency that he knew he had in the glare of his eyes, as he frantically seached for his o.g. when there eyes connected he motioned for the young man to meet him upstairs. They both entered the o.g s room and the older man quickly went over to the bar and poured the kid a drink. He then handed the drink over and the boy great fully accepted. He swallowed the liquid quick, relishing in the burn of it as it went down his throat and warmed his belly. He held his glass up for a refill which was obliged. The older man they called puppet waited for a few moments before he said anything. Then he asked," so did u do it?" The boy looked at him with a "seriously " look and then he added, " it wasn't like u said it was gonna be."
"What do u mean"? asked puppet.
"He wasn't alone, there was someone there with him. " He informed him
"So what did u do" puppet inquired
"I unloaded the clip into both of them."He said quietly.
"And u are sure that nobody saw u?" He added .
"No I'm sure of it. "He answered.
"Then u did good mijo, I'm proud of u.
That night when he tried to go to bed, his hours were grizzly horrific, his mind keep.repeating the gruesome scene that had went down that day. On more then one occasion it had awoken him in a cold sweat. Would it be like this forever he wondered?
Early the next morning four cars quietly pulled up in front of the trap house. A dozen men in suits got out with automatic weapons and proceeded to break in. They rounded up all the people that lived in the house and put them on there knees in the middle of the living room. Antonio was the last one they went to get. He had been awoken to the feel of the cold hard steel against his face. When he opened his eyes he saw that the guy holding the gun was huge. The gun looked rather small in his rather large hands. With only grunts and gestures, he let him downstairs at gunpoint to join the circle of the others already on their knees.
Who were these men he kept asking himself. He didn't think any of them looked familiar. All heads looked towards the door as someone slowly pushed it open. It's creaking reverberated throughout the house. Then another rather large man swiftly walked into the center of the circle. Slowly he looked at each and every one of them before he spoke a single word. Then he said with a deep baratone, it seemed to almost shake the room.
"Does anyone in this room know who I am. " He asked everyone. A couple of people did recognize him.
"Ya"one of them spoke up. " Ur don Tony of the Italian Sacramento syndicate. He was by far the most powerful man in the city.
Antonio had recognized the don by his name. For some reason he felt a heavy weight in the pit of his stomach. Something didn't seem right.
"As many of u know I'm a fair but rather harsh man." He said.
The man was right. The dons reputation was that he only gave a person one chance. After that he was downright ruthless to all those that crossed him.
Once he realized who it was that was talking to them, he had a gut feeling that something bad was gonna happen.
"As some of u may know, I was only blessed with one child. A daughter who had just recently turned 25." He informed them.he then went on to say" last night she left when I fell asleep, and somehow snuck out last night. And while she was away she was murdered. I believe it was by the hands of someone In this room.
"Oh s**t, what have I done?" But he already knew the answer to that. The other person, the potential witness he had also killed.
On the other side of the room the o.g puppet was hit with knees like a ton of bricks. He had known the dons daughter for most of his life since grade school. They had even dated briefly during high school. But her father had never approved or his thuggish ways. As much as puppet had wanted to be with his daughter, he knew that he couldn't have gone against the dons wishes. He had no doubt in his mind of what would have happened to him if he did. One would have to be a dumb mothafucker to go against the man.if the don had even just an incline of suspicion, you were as good as dead.
But now ,in this hellishness of realities, he knew that he was ultimately the reason for the tragedy. And be it as it may, he still hesitated for only a min. Puppet know that he could t live with more blood on his hands then he already had. He already had more innocent blood on them then he ever had wished for. For that, he knew he would have to atone for it later. it was then that he saw the young boy that he had sent slowly start to raise his hand.
