Episode 11 — The Missing Brother
The alarm grew louder.
Amina could hear footsteps approaching from above, getting closer with every second.
“Where is my brother?” she demanded.
Her father looked at her, his expression heavy with regret.
“I don't know.”
“You don't know?” Amina whispered. “You've been hiding all these years, and you don't even know where he is?”
“I spent twenty years trying to find him.”
Youssef stepped closer.
“Who took him?”
Her father hesitated.
“The organisation.”
Amina felt anger rising inside her.
“Then why didn't you tell me?”
“Because they were watching you.”
He pointed towards the photograph.
“They believed your brother carried something that could expose everything they had built.”
“What?”
“A memory.”
Amina frowned.
“That makes no sense.”
Her father reached into his coat and pulled out an old cassette recorder.
“When your brother was a child, he witnessed something he was never supposed to see. Before they took him, he recorded everything.”
Youssef stared at the recorder.
“Where is the recording?”
Her father looked towards the locked door.
“That's what they've been searching for.”
Suddenly, a violent crash shook the room.
Someone was trying to break through the entrance.
Amina grabbed the recorder.
“We're not staying here.”
Her father nodded.
“There is another way out.”
They hurried through a narrow passage behind the photographs. The tunnel seemed endless, twisting beneath the building.
Then Amina heard something.
A faint voice.
“Help me…”
She stopped.
“Did you hear that?”
Youssef turned pale.
The voice came again.
“Please…”
Amina ran towards it.
At the end of the tunnel was a small steel door.
Someone was breathing behind it.
Her father grabbed her shoulder.
“Don't open that.”
“Why?”
He stared at the door.
“Because if he's still alive…”
The door suddenly unlocked itself.
Amina reached for the handle.
And from the darkness came a familiar voice:
“Amina… I've been waiting for you.”
