CHAPTER 13 - MATE - BRAYTON'S POV

1276 Words
''Where is she?'' I asked Oren as I paced along the territory perimeter, not daring to step over the border as it wasn't my land. ''It's one am,'' He told me, ''She's not coming, we should go.'' ''Let's give it another hour, and then we'll...'' I paused when I heard movement. Quin, who'd been lying on the ground with his arms behind his head, quickly jumped up. ''Do you think it's Dakari's guards?'' He asked, but I shook my head with wide eyes. ''Mate.'' I mouthed, as Quin looked at me in shock? ''Sarah?'' He frowned, and I shook my head. ''Siri.'' I whispered as I saw her coming. She was leaning on another man and she was covered in bruises and bleeding terribly. I went to run to her, but Quin grabbed my arm. ''Don't be a fool. If you cross into Dakari's territory without permission, it'll start a war.'' ''GET OFF!'' I shoved him and ran towards my mate. I couldn't believe this. Siri was my mate. She was mine. My heart was racing like a drum. I'd wanted her my whole life and the Goddess had finally given her to me. I could jump for joy. But when I got closer to my mate, I loved that word right now. I realized her injuries were worse than I thought. ''SIRI!'' I shouted and pulled her into my arms, as she began to cry. ''You waited,'' She sobbed as I lifted her up off the ground, and she wound her legs around me, holding onto me like a lifeline. But I was confused. Did she not smell my scent? I looked down and saw that her nose looked broken. She probably couldn't smell I was her mate, and she was most likely in to much pain or shock to feel the bond. ''Of course. I will always wait for you.'' I told her, before looking at the boy. ''What happened to her.'' The boy gave me a brief run down of events and I felt my temper rise. This pack was going to burn to the ground. I would kill them all. ''I have to get back before I'm discovered.'' The boy told me. ''Thank you.'' I said to him. ''You are always welcome in my pack.'' ''I may hold you to that, Alpha. Goodbye. Take care of her.'' ''I will.'' ''Goodbye Siri. Have a good life.'' ''Bye TJ, thank you.'' She said through tears, ''Remember to link me if they find out what you've done.'' ''Sure thing.'' He smiled before he shifted and ran back the way he came. ''Let's get you home.'' I told Siri. ''Just rest. You're safe now. No one will ever hurt you again. Not ever.'' ''Thank you, Bray. Thank you.'' I kissed her head, enjoying the bond over my lips ''Just sleep.'' As I walked back over to Quin, Siri passed out. ''Let's get home'' I told my Beta, ''But I want the troops ready. If those dogs dare to come for her. I'm destroying their entire pack.'' ''Yes, Alpha.'' He nodded, and looked Siri over, ''She's badly hurt, why isn't her healing ability working?'' ''I don't know, but I will make them pay.'' I said through clenched teeth. ''Is she really your mate?'' ''She really is mine.'' I said, still in shock, but one hundred percent thrilled. ''Do you think she'll accept you?'' Quin asked cautiously. I growled softly but menacingly, and he took a step away from me, ''I won't let reject me. I will seduce her if I have to, but either way, she will be mine.'' Once we made it back to my cars that were waiting near a town, still celebrating the Goddess festival, I slipped into the back seat, still holding my girl, and my driver took off. Under the dim illumination of the car light, I examined Siri's body. She was now covered in dry blood, there were welts and bruises all over her soft, delicate skin, her hair was knotted and filled with chunks of dried blood and dirt, her lip was busted, her dress torn and exposing parts of her body. Her body that now belonged to me and only for my eyes. I was furious. The more I looked at her, the angrier I became. Oren was just as furious as I was, and was making plans to kill the twins. ''How could they do this to her?'' I said in rage, my voice trembling. Quin, who'd sat on the front passenger side, turned to look back at me. ''Even if she wasn't their mate,'' I continued, ''They still knew her. She'd never push someone down the stairs, especially not a pregnant woman.'' ''I wonder how this Colette chick could throw herself down the stairs?'' Quin asked, ''Who kills their own child just to get another woman out of the way?'' ''She'll be the first I kill.'' I said as I brushed Siri's hair back, but that only released large bruises around her throat. They must have choked her too. It took hours to return home, the sun was coming up, and I took her straight to my hospital where I'd linked my head healer, Sebastian, who was waiting with a gurney at the front doors. ''Alpha, I have everything ready for the young lady.'' He told me. ''Luna,'' I told him, ''Not young lady, she's your future Queen.'' Sebastian and the other nurses stared down at her with wide, nervous eyes. ''We'll do everything we can to help her.'' Sebastian told me, as they started pushing her away. I followed after them, but Sebastian told me I needed to stay out as the operating room needed to stay sterile, so I went into the joining room and watched them through the glass wall. Sebastian and the nurses worked swiftly, proficiently and expertly. The emergency room buzzed with activity. My thoughts were a whirlwind of panic and anger. My rage, cold and sharp, focused. Zain and Kai would pay. Once Siri was wheeled into a private room, Sebastian gave me a list of every bruise and mark that he cataloged in her medical report. I listened carefully to him. I wanted to know the severity. The list of injuries that I was given helped play out a story of events she'd endured at their hands, and it only fueled my rage. I could see her outer injuries, but Sebastian also told me that her ribs were fractured. She had internal bleeding, and her heart was slightly damaged. ''They gave her something to prevent her from healing,'' He told me, ''It's in her blood, so I'm giving her a blood transfusion. Once it's out of her system, she'll begin to heal.'' ''Is she my blood type?'' ''She is actually, why?'' ''Give her my blood that we have in storage,'' I ordered. You couldn't give an Alpha someone else's blood. It didn't work, so every month, I gave some to put in storage, ''It will help her strengthen quicker, and I can donate more tomorrow.'' ''As you wish.'' He agreed, and looked at the nurse who bowed to me and left the room. Once she was all set, I sat down next to her, getting comfortable in a chair beside her, and just waited. Siri needed rest to recover. She needed love. She needed time to heal, physically and emotionally, and I was determined to provide her with that. My love for her was unwavering. I held her hand, kissed it and placed it back on the bed, ''I love you Siri, please fight until your healing comes back. Don't leave me. Not now that we can finally be together.''
