CHAPTER 20 - IT MUST BE PERFECT - BRAYTON'S POV

938 Words
Two days after I proposed, I was sitting in my office, getting some pack tasks done, when my phone began to ring. I looked down and saw a familiar number, and smiled. ''Here we go.'' Oren commented as I picked it up. ''Hello Dakari,'' I said as I leaned back comfortably. ''Brayton,'' He spoke, his voice slightly frustrated, ''I have been ringing for nearly two weeks!'' ''So?'' ''So, I needed to talk to you.'' He told me, sounding frustrated, which I loved. Oren however, was growling. He wanted Dakari's head, he wanted the twins heads. Hell, he wanted their whole pack burned to the ground. ''I figured that much,'' I told him, ''Can you hurry this along? I'm busy planning my wedding next week.'' ''Wedding? You're getting married?' He asked, and I smiled. My plan was coming together, ''You've taken a chosen?'' ''No, I found my second chance mate,'' I told, ''Now, what do you want?'' ''My son's mate is missing,'' He told me, ''We need your help, you and Siri are friends. Have you seen her?'' ''Siri's missing?'' I questioned, ''That is just awful. Why has she gone missing? What happened?'' The line went silent for a moment, before he answered, ''She was accused of killing my son's heir, but we have proof now that it wasn't her.'' ''How interesting,'' I smiled to myself, ''How could she have killed her own child?'' ''What do you mean?'' He asked, ''It wasn't her child.'' ''But you said Siri was your twin's mate, how could they have an heir without her?'' ''We both know, that you know, what happened.'' ''I do,'' I admitted. ''Then what's with the games?'' He snapped, and I felt my shackles come up, ''Have you seen her or not?!'' ''I have actually,'' I told them ''In fact, she'll be here for the wedding, but I know she doesn't want anything to do with any of you after you accused her of murder, had her thrown in jail and tortured.'' ''Tortured?'' He said, sounding confused, and I frowned. Did he not know they'd tortured her? ''She was never harmed!'' ''I suggest you speak with your troops, because I know she was tortured. I personally had her nursed back to health.'' ''Is that why you've been avoiding me? Because you helped my son's mate?'' He asked. ''Your son's no longer have a mate,'' I pointed out, ''She rejected them,'' ''It was a misunderstanding,'' He argued, ''I know if I can talk to her, I can fix things between them. You have to tell me where you sent her. My son's are sorry. They know they should have believed her. Even before we watched the surveillance footage, they just want a second chance. You have to help me, please.'' ''I don't have to tell you anything,'' I told him calmly, ''I am not one of your pack members. However, you and your family are, of course, invited to my wedding, you can speak to Siri there. I will send out invites in two days, there will an engagement party and then the wedding the next day. I look forward to seeing you.'' I hung up before he could say anything else, and I just sat back smiling. I couldn't wait for the twins to see her by my side. ''And then once mate is marked, we declare war,'' Oren smiled happily. After a quick lunch at my desk, I met with Siri and Quin in the great hall, to discuss the engagement and reception parties, but when I turned around and saw Siri laughing with Quin, and I felt myself instantly filled with rage. I was already on edge because of Dakari, and seeing them joking around and standing so close, set me off. I had overlooked my last Beta getting close to my mate, and I wouldn't allow that to happen again, not with Siri! I walked over angrily, grabbed Sirena's wrist, and pulled her closer, ''I thought I told you to go speak with the Priestess about the ceremony!'' I snapped. I'd asked him to go ten minutes ago, and I hated being ignored. ''I... I'm sorry, Alpha, I'll go now,'' He bowed, looking nervous, before leaving. Once he was gone, I turned to Sirena and glared at her, ''Do not flirt with my Beta!'' I growled angrily, and left the main hall. ''HEY. DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT AND WALK AWAY!'' She shouted at me, once she caught up with me in the hallway, and the guards quickly made themselves scarce. ''Do not yell at me!'' ''Then don't accuse me of flirting!'' She shouted back, ''I am not Sarah. Don't project your past mates sins onto me. I don't do that to you. I would never do that to you. I would never betray my mate of sleep with another man. You owe me and Quin an apology!'' She was breathing hard, as she stared me down. If this wasn't a serious moment, it would almost be comical. She was literally have my size, and a fraction of my strength. I took a breath to steady myself, and stepped closer, guilt filling me, ''You're right, I shouldn't have treated you like that. You're not Sarah. I'm so sorry. I just... I'm scared to lose you.'' ''And you thought yelling at me would make me want to stick around?'' ''In hindsight it wasn't the best idea,'' I tried to joke, but she just crossed her arms, ''I really am sorry. Please forgive me.'' ''Just this once,'' She finally smiled, and I hugged her, ''You won't lose me. I love you.'' ''I love you too.''
