Chapter 35: Truths
(Alexander's POV)
My wolf paced inside me, restless, uneasy. The air in the healing den felt heavy as I watched Sarah curled up on the narrow bed.
She looked so small. So frail. Her face was pale, her eyes red and swollen from crying. She clutched her belly like the pup inside was all she had left.
My chest tightened at the sight, but something didn’t sit right.
Aria’s words had planted a question that refused to leave. Why does Sarah always seem to be the victim? Why does trouble follow her, yet never touch her directly?
I stepped closer to the bed. Sarah flinched slightly, her hands trembling as she brushed tears from her cheeks. “Alex,” she rasped, her voice cracking, “you… you can’t believe her… not after everything we’ve been through. You know me.”
