(Diana's POV)
Beta Cole stood firm in front of me, his arms crossed, his imposing presence blocking my way. His expression was as unyielding as stone, his wolf’s authority radiating tension.
“Miss Silverbrook,” he said, his tone sharper than I deserved, “you cannot enter without prior approval. Dominic is preoccupied.”
I met his cold gaze with a practiced smile that didn’t reach my eyes. My wolf bristled at the lack of respect. “Beta Cole,” I started, keeping my voice light but firm, “I have a matter of importance to discuss. Surely, you’re not denying me access to your Alpha’s territory.”
His expression didn’t falter. “Miss Silverbrook, protocol exists for a reason. My orders are to ensure the Alpha isn't disturbed.”
