Chapter 3

JANE “Hello…” Right at the moment when he shifted from his wolf form into his human form, I was really doubting if he was capable of doing any harm until I looked him in the eyes. His eyes were pretty deranged, like he was not too stable and like he could turn on me at any point from then. I was shaking terribly as I tried to think of what to say. “Good day…” I greeted even though I was having the worst day of my life. But he didn't say anything as he continued walking towards me with that sinister look in his eyes and his muscular body which I didn't want to look at. I found myself impulsively backing away from him with each step he tried to take towards me. I felt I was in danger by just standing there and looking at him. I felt like I had to run away, but I was just too scared and too tired as well. He was creeping me out with the silence and with the way he was looking at me. As he raised his hand, I was expecting him to reach for my throat and devour me right there, but he was rough and just cursed this side of my face. I closed my eyes, wondering what would happen next. “What is a beautiful young girl like you doing out here?” He was now looking even more deranged as he was closing the gap between both of us. “Don't you know that this part of the woods is my domain, and that I could easily do whatever I want with you right now?” The thought of that sent a lot of chills down my spine. “Please don't hurt me…” I struggled to breathe as I couldn't handle him being that close to me. “I just happened to be chased by some people and I found myself here, so I—” “Say no more.” He hushed as he put his index finger close to my lips. “Seems like you are one of those unfortunate omegas who have to work on the farm. Too unfortunate for a girl as pretty as you are.” I really didn't know what to reply to his second comment about me being too pretty for the role that I was playing. All I could do was stand as stiff as a board while waiting to see what would become of me. “Follow me. I will give you a temporary shelf before you return to your people. I can see that you are really famished.” He sounded kind all of a sudden and the deranged look on his face disappeared and gave way for a kind accommodating personality. “Thank… thank you…” I wasn't sure why he was showing me that sort of kindness, but I just couldn't refuse. Not in my current predicament where every and anything seemed to be after me. I didn't dare to see a single word as I followed him all the way to a small wooden shelter in the woods. I had never come but that far in the forest that bordered my pack, and that made my heartbeat fluctuate with each step that I took with him towards the front door. “What do you think?” He asked as he opened the door and ushered me in. “Welcome to my humble abode.” As I walked into the deeply lit apartments, I could already perceive the enticing aroma of food that made my belly let out some rugged rhythms. “Make yourself at home. He said that he quickly left me alone to put on some clothes before coming back to see me standing in the same spot. “There is a couch right over there where you can rest a bit. I can tell that you’ve been through a lot.” “Thank you…” I muttered the same set of words which I had to reply to him at first, and I was sure he was already thinking of me as awkward. It wasn't my fault that I wasn't used to making myself comfortable in the strange place. I couldn't deny that I felt relieved when I sat on that couch, which was the softest thing I have been on ever since I spent the night in that cell. Before I could enjoy the comfort completely, he came over with a food tray which made my systems do a whole lot of acrobatics within me. I had nearly snatched the tray from him and dug into the food with my hands, but I decided to be civil as I had been a beta before an Omega. “There you go…” He said as he put the tray on my lap before going over to sit on the couch opposite mine. “You can take your time and—” Stopped right in the middle of his speech as he watched me devour the food voraciously like a predator who had finally caught a prey after weeks of searching. That was exactly what I felt like at that point. “Can I get you some water?” He asked, sounding a bit concerned. I noted without looking up for a second. And by the time I was looking up, he was standing there with a glass of water which I gulped down in the twinkle of an eye. After that, I felt a strange kind of heaviness, first from a full stomach, then in my eyes as I was slowly becoming drowsy. I lost touch with my impulses and I didn't know when I let go of the glass. Fortunately, the man was there to catch the glass, and he put it back on the table and then in the center of the living room. “What's happening?” I was panicking as I couldn't hold the tray anymore, and he took it away from me as well. “You're all right. You just need some rest…” he laughed as I passed out… Yet again… *** The sound of people's voices all around was what woke me up from the slumber I had fallen into. I wanted to believe that it was a dream that I was about to wake up from and not a nightmare that I was about to wake up to. At the moment my eyes opened, I knew that everything had gone awfully wrong. From the way the cold evening breeze blew on my bare body, I could tell that I was without clothing. “No…” I muttered as I sat up to see all the omegas around me, staring at me with laughter and mockery on their faces. I looked beside me to see my clothes there and everything, notes that contained a set of words that shook me terribly. It had been afternoon when I had been chased in the woods, and now I was waking up to see that it was evening, making me wonder what could have happened in those few hours of unconsciousness. I felt a slight burning in between my thighs and that was when the note began to make sense to me. “I'm glad we both ate… and I'm glad I ate you first…” my shaky hands couldn't hold the paper in my hand again as I quickly put my clothes on my naked body. The laughter intensified and that made me melt into tears. I couldn't handle the mockery and the hate. It was all too much for me to be with that I had been deflowered and left there in the open. Right at that moment, I just wanted to run away. I suddenly took to my heels and sped away from there. In my head there was no point of living as staying alive meant working as an Omega for the rest of my life. A death sentence would have been much better and that made me want to give one to myself as I had reached the limits of my tolerance. I ran all the way to the lake, not too far away from the farm, as that was the quickest death that I could give myself, knowing that I couldn't swim. “Stop right there!” The order from the guard came too late as I was already airborne and bound for the water. I plunged without a second thought as I was yet again wrapped around by darkness. That time around, I was sure that I wouldn't see the light of the sun ever again.
