📖 Chapter 10: A Night That Changes Everything For a moment.... Everything was still. Elara was still in his arms. Adrian’s hand held her firmly, steadying her as if letting go was not an option. Their faces were close. Too close. Her breath was uneven. His gaze was dark. “You’re reckless” His voice was low. Elara blinked. “I didn’t do anything” she said softly. Adrian’s eyes narrowed slightly. “You walked alone into a dark garden after being warned” “That’s called doing something” Elara looked away for a second. “I didn’t think it would go that far.” Adrian’s grip tightened slightly. “That’s exactly the problem” Silence. Elara slowly pulled herself back. This time..... He let her go. But his eyes didn’t leave her. “Are you hurt?” he asked. Elara shook her head. “No” A pause. “Thank you.” The words were quiet. Sincere. Adrian didn’t respond immediately. Instead...... He stepped closer again. Elara’s heart skipped. “Who sent him?” he asked. Elara froze. “I don’t know” Adrian studied her face. “You do.” His tone was certain. Elara hesitated. Then...... “I have a guess” Adrian’s gaze sharpened. “Say it” Elara looked at him. “…Lady Seraphina.” Silence. The night felt colder. Adrian didn’t look surprised. “I thought so” His voice carried no emotion. But something in his eyes— Darkened. “This is because of me” he said. Elara shook her head. “No.” But even she didn’t believe that. Adrian exhaled slowly. “This place is no longer safe for you” Elara gave a small, tired smile. “It never was” A pause. Adrian looked at her carefully. “You should leave” --- Elara nodded slightly. “I was going to.” She turned.... Ready to walk away. But then— He spoke again. “Wait.” Her steps stopped. She didn’t turn back immediately. --- “What is it?” she asked quietly. --- Adrian took a step closer. --- Closer than before. --- “Elara.” --- Hearing her name from his lips— Felt different. Her heart beat faster. “You can’t walk out like this,” he said. Elara frowned slightly. “Why?” Adrian looked at her dress. Her face. Her presence. --- “Because you’ve already been seen.” --- Silence. --- The meaning was clear. --- “You’re already involved.” --- Elara slowly turned to face him. --- “I don’t want to be.” Adrian held her gaze “That’s no longer your choice..” Those words— Hit harder than she expected. She clenched her hands slightly. “I don’t belong here” she said. Adrian stepped even closer. “Then where do you belong?” Elara didn’t answer. Because she didn’t have one. Not anymore. The silence between them deepened. Then— Adrian said something unexpected. “Come with me” Elara froze. “What…?” “Come with me” he repeated. His voice was calm. But serious. “I can protect you.” Elara stared at him. “Why would you do that?” Adrian didn’t answer immediately. For a moment— Even he didn’t know. Then— “Because I want to.” Simple. Honest. Dangerous. Elara’s heart shook. “That’s not a reason” she said softly. Adrian looked at her. “It’s enough.” Silence. - The wind moved again. Her red hair brushed lightly against his arm. He didn’t move away. Elara looked into his eyes. There was no lie there. No game. Only certainty. And something else. Something she couldn’t name. “You don’t even know me,” she said. Adrian’s gaze softened slightly. “I want to.” --- That answer— Was more dangerous than anything else. Elara took a small step back. “This is a mistake” Adrian didn’t stop her. But he didn’t agree either. “Maybe” A pause. “But I don’t regret it” Elara’s chest tightened. Why was he like this? Why was he making this harder? “I should go” she said again. This time.... Her voice was firmer. Adrian watched her. Then.... He reached out. His hand gently caught her wrist. Not tight. Not forceful. But enough to stop her. Elara’s breath hitched. “Stay tonight” His voice was low. “Just tonight” Silence. The meaning of those words.... Was not simple. Elara felt it. The weight. The danger. The pull. “You’re asking too much” she whispered. Adrian stepped closer. “Am I?” Their distance disappeared again. His hand moved slowly..... From her wrist..... To her fingers. Holding them gently. “Then say no” he said quietly. Elara looked at him. Her heart was loud. Too loud. Her mind said.... Leave. But her body didn’t move. Her eyes dropped to his lips for a second. Then back to his eyes. And that moment..... Was enough. Adrian moved first. Slowly. Giving her time to step back. To stop him. But she didn’t. And then...... Their lips met. Soft. Warm. Dangerous. Elara froze at first. Then.... Her hand lifted slightly. Gripping his sleeve. The kiss deepened. Slowly. Carefully. As if both of them were testing something they didn’t understand. Adrian’s hand moved to her waist. Pulling her closer. Elara’s breath trembled. She knew this was wrong. But she didn’t stop. Because for the first time in a long time..... She didn’t want to. The night grew quieter. The world faded away. Only the two of them remained. And the line between right and wrong Began to disappear. This night...... Would change everything. And neither of them..... Would be able to turn back.
