šŸ“– Chapter 11: A Fire He Couldn’t Control The kiss didn’t stop. It only grew deeper. Elara’s fingers tightened on Adrian’s sleeve. Her heart was racing. Too fast. Too loud. Adrian pulled her closer. His hand firm on her waist. Something was wrong. He could feel it. His breath was heavier than usual. His body..... Warmer. Too warm. But right now.... He didn’t care. All he could feel..... Was her. Her soft lips. Her trembling breath. The way she didn’t pull away. Elara tried to think. She really did. ā€œThis is wrongā€¦ā€ But her body betrayed her. She didn’t move back. She didn’t stop him. Instead..... Her hand slowly moved to his chest. She could feel his heartbeat. Fast. Strong. --- Almost… unstable. --- Adrian suddenly pulled back slightly. --- His breathing was uneven. --- Elara looked at him. --- ā€œAre you alright?ā€ she asked softly. --- Adrian didn’t answer immediately. --- Something inside him— Was burning. --- A strange heat spreading through his body. --- ā€œI’m fine,ā€ he said. --- But his voice— Was rough. --- Not normal. --- Elara frowned. --- ā€œNo… you’re not.ā€ --- Adrian closed his eyes for a second. --- Memories flashed. --- The party. The wine. --- A servant handing him a glass. --- Then— That woman. --- Blonde hair. Sweet smile. --- Seraphina. --- His eyes opened slowly. --- ā€œā€¦The wine.ā€ --- Elara blinked. --- ā€œWhat?ā€ Adrian’s expression darkened. ā€œThe wine I drank earlier.ā€ His jaw tightened. ā€œIt wasn’t normal.ā€ Elara’s heart dropped. --- ā€œYou meanā€”ā€ --- ā€œYes.ā€ --- He didn’t say the word. But she understood. --- Drugged. --- Silence fell between them. --- Elara stepped back slightly. --- ā€œThat’s dangerous,ā€ she said. --- Adrian let out a quiet breath. --- ā€œI know.ā€ --- His hand ran through his hair. --- ā€œI didn’t notice it at first.ā€ --- His gaze moved back to her. --- ā€œBut nowā€¦ā€ --- Now it was clear. --- The heat. The loss of control. The way his body reacted to her. --- Stronger than it should. --- Elara understood too. --- Her cheeks flushed slightly. --- ā€œYou should rest,ā€ she said quickly. --- ā€œThis isn’t something you can ignore.ā€ --- Adrian looked at her. --- ā€œAnd leave you alone here?ā€ --- Elara hesitated. --- ā€œI’ll be fine.ā€ --- Adrian’s eyes darkened. --- ā€œYou were almost attacked minutes ago.ā€ --- Silence. --- He wasn’t wrong. --- Elara looked away. --- ā€œā€¦Still.ā€ --- Adrian stepped closer again. --- The distance closed. --- ā€œYou felt it too.ā€ --- Her breath caught. --- ā€œWhat…?ā€ --- Adrian’s voice dropped. --- ā€œThis.ā€ --- His hand gently touched her cheek. --- Elara froze. --- ā€œYou didn’t stop me,ā€ he said quietly. --- Her heart pounded. --- ā€œIā€¦ā€ --- She couldn’t answer. --- Because he was right. --- She didn’t stop him. --- Even before knowing about the drug— She didn’t. --- Adrian’s thumb brushed lightly against her skin. ā€œI’m not out of controlā€ he said. His gaze locked onto hers. ā€œI know what I’m doing.ā€ Elara searched his eyes. There was heat. Desire. But also— Clarity. That scared her more. ā€œThis is a mistakeā€ she whispered. Adrian didn’t move his hand. ā€œThen stop me.ā€ The words were quiet. A challenge. Elara’s lips parted slightly. Her mind screamed— Say no -l But her body— Stayed still. Adrian leaned closer. Slowly. Giving her time. A chance. But again— She didn’t move away. --- And this time— The kiss returned. Deeper. Hotter. More urgent. The control between them..... Was slipping. Adrian’s hand moved to her waist again. Pulling her against him. Elara gasped softly. Her hands gripped his shirt. ā€œThis isn’t just the drugā€¦ā€ she thought. Because she felt it too. That pull. That need. It wasn’t fake. It wasn’t forced. It was real. The night air grew colder. But between them.... Everything burned. Adrian lifted her slightly.... Guiding her toward the inner hallway near the balcony. A quieter place. Hidden. Elara’s heart raced. ā€œWe shouldn’tā€¦ā€ she whispered. But her voice...... Was weak. Uncertain. Adrian stopped for a second. He looked at her. ā€œOne last chance,ā€ he said. ā€œTell me to stop.ā€ Silence. Elara looked into his eyes. And then— She shook her head. Very slightly. That was enough. Adrian’s restraint broke. The distance disappeared completely. The world outside no longer mattered. The danger. The palace. The people. Everything faded. Only the heat remained. Only them. That night..... Under the shadow of the palace..... A mistake was made. Or maybe.... Something inevitable. Something neither of them fully understood. But one thing was certain.... When the sun rises.... Nothing will be the same again. And the consequences.... Will follow them. No matter what they choose.
